So, as some may remember the dream I had a couple months ago...I upped my giving and in return I had gained like 10 days on my seat selection. This did not happen and I am sad.

This is just the minimum donation to get a seat in each section. Giving that much per seat does not guarantee that you get a seat at that level. That is determined by total amount given, number of years given, number of season tickets purchased, and consecutive number of years season tickets are purchased.
EDIT: Specifically, here is how the Hokie Club points are calculated.
2 Points for every $100 cumulative giving to Virginia Tech Athletics
5 Points per consecutive year of giving to the Hokie Scholarship Fund
3 Points per consecutive year of purchasing season tickets (football, men's basketball and women's basketball)
1 Point per purchased season ticket (football, men's basketball and women's basketball) with a maximum of 16 points accumulated per sport, per year
1 Point per neutral site or postseason event with ticket(s) purchased (football, men's basketball and women's basketball)
5 Points per year of membership in the Student Hokie Club
50 Points for being a former Virginia Tech letterwinner (one-time bonus)

It's interesting that even though you pay for the season tickets in March prior to selection, your Hokie Club points do not reflect that "purchase". The tickets are not deemed "purchased" for the purpose of calculating that year's 3 points per consecutive year purchasing season tickets or the 1 point per purchased season ticket until there is an actual seat assignment attached to them.
I guess it doesn't really matter for ranking purposes (unless you are increasing the number of tickets over last year) since the same calculation is applied to everyone, but what is the point of having the March 16 deadline for purchase? I presume it is just to reserve a spot in line.

This is true... but those seat license prices tend to create open gaps that can be filled with a big enough donation. .
It doesn't matter if I have 500 priority points if I'm only donating $400 per year currently... I won't be able to buy 4 season tickets in the $600 or $800 sections... if I want 4 I have to stick to $100 $50 or $0 sections.
You would probably have to call the ticket office to get info ahead of time about open/unfilled seats there are in the primo sections that you are angling for, and then make the a guess on how many people would be willing to move up who have higher point priority
So last year, I could go into the seating system well before my selection time and see what seats were left. It served primarily as a form of self torture as I watched the good seats dwindle daily but it also helped me plan for my choices when my day finally did arrive. This year, everything is showing as unavailable when I click on any section of the stadium. Are others seeing this the same way?

Do you just see the green sections or when you click on them can you also see the individual green seat dots? I see them as green sections, but then when I click on them all the individual seat dots are red, indicating they are not available.

I selected mine not quite an hour ago. I added two extra seats and ended up calling the ticket office because the site wouldn't let me add them. They ended up overriding the system and I got my 6 seats from last year and two new seats for this year.
On the seat selection tab did you actually click on a section to see what was available or stop before clicking on a section. If you don't click on the section it appears that there is nothing available

No I'm actually clicking on the section and all I see are red dots in every one. I can give them a call and see what's up though, sounds like it's just me for some reason.

I think I know why now too. I just noticed they have me designated as zone club on the left side of the page, so that's the only place it's showing me any green dots. Weird, we sat in section 5 last year. I'll give them a call. Thanks for taking the time to look for me!

May 29th at 1:39PM. Also keep in mind that the tax deductibility change likely impacted things this year in particular. Some people may have made (did make) multiple year donations because the partial tax write-off goes away next year.
Probably not a huge impact, but imagine it influences things even though this is not a reseating year.

Another way to skip ahead and get great seats is go Club.

I'm on that June 4th timing as well. 11:26 AM

I purchased season tickets but I have yet to receive any notification of day and time. Assume this means I am in the back of the line?
May 31st.
May 30 here, but we never switch seats so it's mostly irrelevant.
Just out of curiosity, when do single game tickets typically go on sale?
May 1st
Dollar. Dollar. Bills, yall.
May 14th - in the afternoon
May 16th @ 10:34am. Hope I'm sober for it.

It hasn't started yet. I would think nothing will change till almost first selection day.
I thought seat selection started today.
I can see availability in all of the sections just like last year, not sure why it looks different for you.
Looked at seats when email first came out. I could see available seats.
After I saw your post, I logged in now and am looking now and can see available seats. No idea why you can't.
Do you just see the green sections or when you click on them can you also see the individual green seat dots? I see them as green sections, but then when I click on them all the individual seat dots are red, indicating they are not available.
I can see individual seats that are available in west, east, club etc.
However reserved parking I cannot.
