Well that sucks
Yup.
Well that's extremely frustrating. Hope he has a speedy recovery!
I know the medical redshirt cutoff is around 4 games. Anyone know if he''ll be eligible? Is the number still 30 percent?
well we better make sure we hit an ACC championship and a bowl game just to be safe...maybe 2 bowl games
Foster implied he would be eligible for a medical redshirt in the post game. When Foster was talking about that, I knew they expected it was bad.
Speaking of which, does anyone have audio or video of the post game without the echo?
The echo goes away after a couple minutes
If it is 30%, we'll need to play 14 games for his 4 games to be below 30%. Gotta get back to the ACCCG to save a year of eligibility.
Should go without saying, but

Anyone know if Hunter still feeling the effects of his concussion, or is he just that far down the depth chart being a true freshman? Kinda figured we would've seen more of him by now.
Ladler was pretty highly touted iirc, so hopefully that knee holds up and he can progress like everyone expected!
Hunter has been playing on special teams, I know he had a block in the back penalty called on him on a punt return. He may have played with the back ups a few times as well, but I don't think he's been in with the ones.
I think it says more about the quality of the people in front of him than anything else. Some real quality and depth there.
I wonder if they consider quarters/halves of competition in the 30% eligibility calculations. If so, he would've only played in 3.5 games which would put him under the 30% for 12 games.
I've found conflicting info on whether it's 3 or 4 games:
https://www.fromtherumbleseat.com/georgia-tech-football/2015/10/7/945784...
http://newsok.com/article/3697118
others places said that the conferences/NCAA (waiver requests are submitted to conferences and can be appealed to NCAA if denied) round 3.9 games up to 4 and/or also count championship and bowl games towards the number of games in a season.
Hopefully they go ahead and pass the "players can play in up to four games and still redshirt" rule that the coaches association wants and we won't have to worry about this kind of thing any more.
Sigh. Freak injuries are the worst.
Hoping for a quick full recovery. He's got a great future at DBU.
Man you have to hate that for him. After not breaking in at WR, he goes through a position change and works his tail off to become an immediate impact player on defense, and now this. Man I hope and pray that he is able to recover and return to form next year.
You just listed all the reasons he's become one of my favorite defenders this year. His name doesn't hurt his case. I hope he's able to come back next year to help us defend our national championship
Just horrible. Watched him roll his ankle on replay and was hoping he just tweaked it - obviously much worse.
It looked like he landed awkwardly on his (I think) left foot after he caught the ball on the interception. When he came up gimpy, my first thought was sprained ankle, but obviously was worse. Heal quickly Divine!
I thought it looked like an Achilles tear the way he pulled up on it.
Thought the same until I saw the replay. He landed awkwardly and kind of turned his foot/ankle weirdly. I'm actually betting on it being a broken foot. Metatarsal fracture maybe? #amateurdoctor
Here's hoping Hunter's scratch vs ODU (EDIT: hamstring, not concussion) was more precautionary, and that he's good to go. If not, we are suddenly hella thin at what was a deep, talented position 2 weeks ago
Between this and Farley, we've reached our Shitty, Poorly Timed, Season-Ending Injury At A Position Of Need quota for the season, right?
Well, there's sprained ankle, and then there's sprained ankle. In my limited experience, a severe sprain is ten times worse than a broken bone.
I can testify to this. I severely sprained my ankle once playing pickup basketball and it was a full 6 months before I had a full range of motion.
If it's that lisfranc BS again, imma lose my shit. Anybody else remember that season not long ago we lost like four guys to lisfranc sprains?
This, and Achilles are my worst fear. I feel bad hoping that it's only a broken bone.
JGW was out with it for awhile in 2009 and I'm pretty sure there was at least one other guy that season with the same dang thing
I keep thinking it was Bruce Taylor.
Who's his backup? Someone tell me this will all be okay.
Well he was a back-up who was playing better in pass coverage. When he went out, they moved Mook to a safety spot and brought in Newsome at Whip/Nickel
Yeah, my first thought was, "why did Coach leave the first-string in so long! He should have been giving reps to backups and making sure the first string was healthy for next week!"
So ... what's up, Adonis?
If there was one position on defense where we could somewhat be okay after an injury, it was safety. Sucks he's gone but we do have some depth there.
True. But. Hunter was held out vs ODU
(concussion). EDIT: (hamstring). Until I hear he's cleared and ready to go, I'm concerned. (And even then, Hunter hasn't gotten much run at safety - most of his snaps have been on special teams.) A lot will be asked of our safeties in this game.Wait Hunter was held out of ODU for concussion? That would mean he has had two already while at Tech.
He was held out for a hamstring injury according to 247.
I may be incorrect, HF - I see that he's had a hamstring issue too. Could have sworn I read somewhere that the ODU scratch was a concussion. I'd be happy to be wrong - I'll take a hammy over a concussion any day.
EDIT: my bad. Hammy. The concussion was earlier in the season. Apologies
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGH!
No. We already played Eastern Carolina.
This is a comment of the highest kwality
This comment made me really want to talk about this with you, until I figured it out.
Embarrassed to say I googled ("Kwality" AND "pirate"), at least I found some great Halloween costumes, you guys.
Left the door open for Adonis to come back this week....
Off the depth chart, but said they are "evaluating"
Dammit! I would like to know exactly what it is.
Broken Ankle and Torn Achilles are the leaders in the clubhouse
I want to throw the Lisfranc fracture in there as well as a contender.
"Don't you put that evil on me" gif in three ... two ...
I sprained my ankle pretty bad a few months ago. Grade III sprain I believe is what the doc referred to it as.
The sprain was so bad that I "broke" a bone in my foot. More specifically, my ankle ligament was so hyper extended it actually pulled a wafer of bone off of where it connected to my talus. I guess ankle ligaments are strong m'fers. So when they're talking about a broken foot bone that could be what they're referring to.
Unpleasant and no high-impact exercise for 6-7 weeks, but no cast needed - just a snug ankle sleeve to minimize motion and let the ligaments heal and that wafer of bone fuse back. Even after I could start running again, it took a solid 3 months to get back full strength / range of motion in that ankle/foot. So even with top-shelf care and constantly monitored rehab, I can see why they are going ahead and calling him out for the season.
Both surprised me, cause I watched him try to jog on his way into the med booth at Lane.
Yeah, I've NEVER seen someone even attempt to run or jog or even walk after tearing an Achilles. I thought it was a sprain initially, the way his ankle turned under him.
Having just torn my Achilles completely earlier this year, that injury looked nothing like an Achilles from how he walked/was able to walk.
Unless your weight goes straight through your knee into your heel and down into the ground, you aren't walking.
I'v seen broken foot.
Man that's a bummer for Divine, he was really developing into a force out there. Here's to hoping Hunter can step in a pick up the slack, even though it was disheartening to not seem him play or on the sidelines Saturday.
Fuente also said that they were still unsure of the Adonis situation, but stated that he'd let us know. Hopefully that can get sorted out and he can play.
Such a bummer. The kid was playing well to the untrained eye. Hopefully he can get the medical RS and fully recover.
Woah...big loss
Anytime I see a non-contact injury I assume the worst.
I was hoping Hunter would get more playing time now.
Apparently he has been hurting with a hamstring injury. Kid can't catch a break this season. I assume if he's healthy he will get more reps as the season continues especially with this Deablo injury.
My thoughts exactly. I like having taller guys back there to tip balls with their reach. When Penn State came back and won against Iowa, the ball went just over the DB's finger tips. I couldn't stop thinking that it would have been tipped by Edmunds or Diablo.
I hate to say it, but when I watched this live at the stadium and saw him back pedaling for no reason into the sidelines after catching that ball, which then resulted in him hobbling off the field, I thought to myself: "that was a completely preventable injury"
I did not know that he broke his foot and thought it was a simple roll of an ankle.
I still don't understand how someone breaks their foot backpedling.
All of your weight is landing on the ball of your foot. If something is slightly out of alignment, it can break/fracture really easily. Small thin bones in your foot.
Reason: this happened to me senior year high school fb. Was running a tackling drill in practice and just came down funny. Luckily mine was hairline and I was only out 2 weeks
I thought it was gonna be something terrible like ACL, since it was non contact and kind of awkward.
..still, sidelined for the rest of the year is just as shitty.
Ladler Also coming back from Injury. I think if Divine can recover and get back to being the #1 FS if Terrell goes Pro.
I like Ladler in the Mix. the future is still strong for VT in the DBU positions.
As for this year, don't be surprised if Mook has a bigger role at Free Safety, he can cover well, has a good engine, can blitz when needed and has an eye for the ball. But only in passing situations really. Deon Newsome seems to be doing good at Nicklewhip when called upon.
Reggie Floyd is still effective though, he just isn't that great on passing downs but he's doing great making opponents one-dimensional on running downs.
So mix of Rodgers and Ladler for backup?
EDIT: My computer conked out
hmm...Shegog is still on the roster, and has been on the box score. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him back on the field. Just ask Arkansas how good he is.
i think he plays in a slightly different package, he's technically the backup to Tremaine at Backer but seems like he plays in the 30 Package when Settle gets out, Tremaine becomes a rusher and Shegog is Backer (or sort off)
Shegog is really underrated as an athlete... 6-2 230 with some cover skills.
My feelings are summed up by Nic Cage
Fractures heal! Come on back DD!
FUCK
I'm assuming Deablo will be full go after about 6-8 weeks, based on my own experiences with a few broken bones.
Long enough where it wipes out his season, but it shouldn't disrupt his winter conditioning and he will be full steam ahead for spring ball.
The timeline is going to depend on whether there was any ligament damage associated with the break. If so, that adds time (ligament heals much slower than bone). Looking at the play, and I hope I'm wrong, but I bet there's some ligament damage too.
Either way hate it for him, never want to see a guy get injured, especially in a no-contact scenario.
If he can come back stronger and essentially take a red shirt with 3 full games of experience, that's a very nice positive sign all things considered.
glad it's a fracture and not a tear, but that sucks for him. He was killing it and was in full beast mode.
Any update on Deablo? There has been no mention of him at all throughout the spring?
THIS...scared...the....crap...out...of....me, had to check the date
Holy Crap. I saw this with 12 new comments. Every new comment will scare the next person that much more.
Updated the thread title in a modest effort to keep anyone from having a heart attack when visiting the site this evening.
Imagine my shock. I saw this and was like "HOLY CRAP!!!" then saw my username and picture. "Wait a minute..."
Dude don't do that to me...
Yeah. The latest update is that you just caused a lot of us to freak out.
Now that I have fresh pants on.... bro!?
Huh, so that's what having a heart attack at 2:30 in the afternoon feels like...
@#$%$%$%@@#$%
TBH, this got me until I got to eshiben's post here, at which point I thought that his comment sounded familiar....
I know I shouldn't downvote, but it's so tempting after giving me a damn heart attack.
WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU BUMP THIS THREAD LIKE THAT
Must resist urge to downvote for making me need new pants
Yeah, next time bump a different thread, change the title, SOMETHING to save us all from soiling our pants.
I know, I know. I did see the date before I clicked on it, but only after missing two heartbeats.

Lol, this chain of replies right now:
Lol @ the nun with the weak-ass slaps.
I haven't seen this much of an overreaction since some Marine was told he couldn't throw his cigarette out a car window.
I hear you can get a ticket for that.
Damn milennials
Funniest thing about this subthread is that you know this topic will be resurrected sometime over the summer and none of us will have a clue about why this is hilarious.
Legs for this entire subthread
Should have calmed him down with some crayons.
Seriously, anyone know anything?
He was hurt during the spring. Right now the hope is it isn't a chronic thing that keeps him out for a 2nd season. Probably won't hear much until fall camp gets closer.
Was he actually still hurt or did they just hold him out as a precaution? I honestly can't remember. I know they normally sit anyone with so much as a hangnail for the spring game because it isn't worth the extra risk when there isn't an actual game on the line.
I believe I read somewhere that it was somewhat of an aggravation so they kept him out as a precaution to keep it from getting worse, so kind of both? Just hoping the kid can get/stay healthy because he could be special
Sorry for all of the panic! I merely thought this was the right thread to ask for an update...
And this is why recycling threads after a year isnt exactly a time saver haha.
