The 2018 season has been a banner year for the Hokies' program, already setting records in total wins as well as ACC wins.
With a 9-1 record, Tech has the most home wins in program history during the 2018 campaign.
Tech earned its first ACC Tournament victory at the conference tournament last week.
The Hokies secured the program's first ever wins over Notre Dame, Louisville and Syracuse this season.
The women's lacrosse tournament features 27 teams, 14 automatic qualifiers from their conference tournaments and 13 teams selected at large. Each of the first two rounds is played at regional campus sites, at the home field of the top eight seeds.

This is great for Tech. Although I don't think the seed shows any respect for their record.

Awesome. Was satisfying to see them whoop up on UVA for those sweet clash points
And yet UVA got better seeding.
They lost to Buzz and still got ranked first. These are the straws lolUVA must grasp to before they do something historic like be the first #1 seed to lose to a 16 seed.
Don't let that distract you from the fact they became he 1st every 1 seed to lose to a 16 seed!
By the looks of it, there are only 6 seeded teams. I don't think we deserved to be one of the top 6 in the nation. I am not sure how they place the rest, but it could be by random.
There are 8 seeded teams. #7 and #8 each have to play in the first round, which is why they look different.
UVA is having to reach pretty far down the list of sports that we should 'just wait until' their season starts after we whip them in football.
Zima is a hell of a drug

I don't see where you get the seeding grudge. We have the most lost losses of any secondary host team (those with a #). We got the NCAA equivalent of an 8 seed, playing the 9 of our half in the first round. Hard to argue that for us. UVA appears to be way too high of a seed though, as the NCAA equivalent of the 10 playing the 7 at Stanford. We are seeded higher the UVA, and around 15th overall to their 20th. Now if you arguing based on strength of schedule I could be wrong and not know it, as I admit I do not follow the sport at all.
Tech has to travel out of state LOLUVA doesn't, Techs second round game is against a 2 seed LOLUVA a 3 seed, JMU. WHILE ONLY YHR TOP 8 teams are right naked you can look at see team like Cuse and UVA compared to their season relied on some historic memory for the committee in its location and opponents list.
LOLUVA has to travel to California for their first game. They are not favored to make the second round. We play our first game at home, and our favored to win. Do you really want to trade seeds with them?
Umm no they play in Harrisonburg at JMU. And Tech plays at UNC.
You are skipping to the second round? First round, 5/11 - Georgetown at VT, LOL at Stanford?
Games are hosted at the highest seeds campus. So all of the games in UVA's bracket are in Harrisonburg.
What he said.
Damn fine print. Gotcha now. Still would not change seeds with them.
UVA still probably wont get past Stanford where as we should have a decent shot to beat Georgetown and get to the second round.
Stanford is effectively the 14-seed, and UVA is effectively the 19-seed, based on the fact that Stanford is listed as the "home team" for that matchup.
On the other hand, we are effectively the 15-seed, playing the 18-seed. Technically our first game is easier, and either way we're both probably going to lose in the second round.
And besides, it's still not too different, both teams still have to travel. We have a 3-hour drive to Chapel Hill, and UVA has a 1-hour drive to Harrisonburg, and if they flipped the two then we'd be driving 2 hours and UVA would be driving 3.5. Overall less total distance this way.
This is the current rankings, Tech is ranked 12th in the country. Yet teams behind it have better matchups and future matchups. I'm just thinking that Tech being so new in the sport and 1at appearance they aren't being graded on same level.

Good to see them make it! Hopefully this gets the ball rolling on raising the profile of the program to where they compete for a tourney spot every year.
For my fellow Triangle area Hokies, we play at 3 pm on Friday at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh.
Gibbons?
What the hell are we playing there for? Don't NCSU, UNC, and Duke have their own facilities?
UNC is renovating their lacrosse facility at the moment. Since UNC is hosting they can pick where they want to play. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
So they decided to choose a high school across the street from NC State's basketball and football stadium?
ok then
How the fuck do they get to host when their facilities are being worked on?
The same way that they get to give out degrees when they don't have real classes.
Hokies win!!!
A 13-10 victory over Georgetown. I saw most of the game except for the last 10 minutes, and #7 Tristan McGinley was a beast especially in the first half, scoring at least 4-5 goals. Georgetown went on a 5-1 run midway through the second half after trailing 9-3 at halftime but the Hokies finished strong.
Up next is the 2 seed UNC on Sunday afternoon, also in Raleigh.
Go Hokies! Glad for the win, but why did they have to put us with #2 UNC, a team who beat us. I was hoping for a deep run for our first tournament.
