What are your thoughts on this list? In my opinion things that stick out are Black Panther and Dr Strange being too high, Infinity War and Thor/Iron man series as a whole a little undervalued.

Black Panther was a great film, but it's not the best, IMO. Also, there is no way that Dr Strange is better than The Avengers! That's the most egregious mistake on the list.
People tried to project their own meaning behind BP inflating it to be better than it probably deserved. That being said, I would say its a Top 5 Marvel movie so far, easily. Its not like the Ghostbusters reboot from a couple years ago where you just weren't allowed to say anything negative about it without someone knifing you.
Captain America 2/3 are criminally underrated. Black Panther is completely overrated.

Haven't seen infinity war yet, but I'm not a huge avengers fan. Captain America is probably my least favorite.

It kind of bothers me that this list seems to have been ranked based purely on the metacritic scores. From what I have seen, the opinions of critics can vary widely with the general audience. I think Infinity war should be 1st (but this could be recency bias)
Iron Man 1 has to top this list. It changed comic book movies forever. It was darker, grittier and showed both sides of the hero. It set up all of the others IMO.

The Dark Knight came out after Iron Man (by a little over 2 months), and I'd hardly say that Batman Begins even comes close to either in quality.
Yeah, but the Dark Knight was generally recognized as the better movie. It made a ton more money than Iron Man and I believe had better reviews.
I'm not saying that Iron Man is a better movie, I'm saying it changed how we look at super hero movies and should be on top of the MCU list. Obviously the Dark Knight sort of did that too, but it did it after and didn't have the lasting affect of altering its own cinematic universe. I mean, it was the last DC movie that was good (Rises and WW were ok I guess).
Problem was the Dark Knight was part of a trilogy, not a part of a larger universe with other characters.
IMO, if they'd somehow convinced Christopher Nolan to direct a couple movies expanding the Dark Knight trilogy into a larger DC universe it would have gone a lot better than the hot garbage they've been releasing (with the exception of WW).

Spot on IMO. The marvel movies are pretty shallow - there's no underlying message, it's just cool action scenes and funny one liners. Dark Knight trilogy (especially #2) has dynamic characters who deal with ethical dilemmas. The Dark Knight received 8 oscar noms, winning two of them. The marvel movie empire (to date) has only a single nomination.
Constipated Batman? I think not. Not even the best casting for batman.
All of the Spiderman movies are over-ranked and I think the Blade series got hosed.
Blade was badass especially for the time
Spideyverse is legit, homecoming was good, the first Garfield one was watchable, the rest are garbage.

My honest response is that putting Black Panther at #1 is pandering. It was a good movie. It may be top 10. But #1 is a combination of recency bias (which didn't really help infinity war in this rating) and trying to appeal to viewers or virtue signal or something. It doesn't seem like a fair choice for the top spot. I also think that Blade, the Iron Mans, and Infinity War are too low and Civil War is too high.
I would rate Iron Man (first), Captain America (1), Avengers (1), Doctor Strange, and Thor: Ragnarok all as better than Black panther.

I apparently have an unpopular opinion about Ragnarok.
At some point (probably once the MCU has come to some sort of finale), I'll probably watch every single movie in the series. Every one except Ragnarok.
What didn't you like about it? The humor was too funny? The action was too wild for your liking? Was Hemsworth so sexy it made you question your allegiances?
The movie tried to be too many things at once, there was no consistent theme. It tried to get all serious, and then an awkward joke would pop up. Then in the middle of a comedy bit, a serious fight would break out. Parts of it were gut-bustingly hilarious, and there was some serious action in it, but there was nothing cohesive tying it all together.
It was like I was watching parts of 3 different movies with the same cast, cut and spliced together randomly. It just wasn't my thing.
Everybody is going to have their own ranking for a variety of reasons. I think one thing we can all agree on is that Marvel has made a boatload of great movies and it's hard to even come up with a Top #5 without leaving a well deserving candidate out.
With regards to Dr Strange, for example, I absolutely loved it. I thought the cinematography was outstanding and it introduced a pretty interesting character to the MCU.
Recency bias also plays a huge factor. Also, Marvel has been able to calibrate their newer movies based on the public reception of the earlier ones.
I do agree that the first Ironman should be in the top 5, as it started the domino effect of where we are now.
I know a lot of my friends like Dr. Strange and I do love Benedict Cumberbatch in general but that was the least fun I've had watching a Marvel movie in theaters. Also, I know I'm in the minority here but I did not love Logan.
I thought Logan was a good movie but not a great superhero movie. The scale was small and told a very tight story. It also gripped with a lot of darker themes.
I did not think of Logan as a superhero movie, let alone a comic book superhero movie. It was more a darker drama, than an action movie.
Winter Soldier is way too low. Should be top 5. Top 3 without the non-MCU films.

The first Iron Man has to be number 1. I saw it in theaters 10 years ago and still remember almost everything. I can't say that about any of the others that came after. That said, Guardians 1, Deadpool, the Avengers 1 and Logan round out my top 5

I like the movies that are good, real good, but don't take themselves too seriously. So if I had to...
1 - Deadpool (I almost think this one is unfair to count, because its not officially MCU... yet)
2 - Avengers 1
3 - Ragnarok
4 - Guardians 1
5 - Iron Man 1
I've seen Ragnarok a couple times and each time I'm catching jokes I didn't pick up on the previous viewings. But its also a serious and pretty dark movie as well. The only reason I don't count it as the best MCU movie is that the first Avengers really kicked off what we know of the whole series now with multiple characters in each movie playing off events of the past. At the time, it was a pretty groundbreaking movie.
Man I am not seeing any love for Spiderman Homecoming in this thread. Fits your criteria perfectly. May not be top 5 but it's hilarious, Tom Holland is perfect as Spiderman, and I love Michael Keaton as the Vulture. Plus they gave Vulture relatable motivations and made him unexpectedly formidable.

Homecoming would have had serious contention for the Top 5 if you excluded Deadpool because it isn't MCU. I'd have a hard time deciding between Homecoming and Ant Man for that last spot in the Top 5, I find both equally good, but would likely give the nod to Homecoming because of the reasons you stated.

In a way I also don't think its entirely fair to breakout certain films and rank them separately, the creative team and thematic continuity between some of them deserve acknowledgement. If making a list I think it would be better to list them as a group, as while you can make certain critiques about each part the similarities and continuity I think mean that they ought to be taken as a whole.
The biggest would probably be the Russo brothers with Winter Soldier and Civil War, both are arguably more spy thriller/political drama vs Superhero movie.
While Gunn and the Guardians movie are essentially one long coherent arc of Sci-Fi comedy.
But then the Thor movies less so because of so many changes in the team and themes between each.
I have varying opinions about how to list these. I think we can universally agree that the Ed Norton Hulk movie was the worst. I didn't care for Dr. Strange outside of it advancing the story. I loved all three Captain America movies and it chaps my behind when people crap on the origination story- the character was noble and decent, hence the tenor of the movie.

I think we can all agree that the Ed Norton turd Hulk movie was the worst. I have a soft spot for Captain America, but Thor Ragnarok was by far the most entertaining of the MCU movies, with Captain America Civil War, Guardians I, Spider Man Homecoming (Michael Keaton) and Iron Man 2 (Sam Rockwell) as the next tier. Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Captain America and Cap Civil War round out my upper tier. Iron Man, Iron Man 3, all three Avengers movies, Doctor Strange and the first two Thor's were entertaining but don't warrant repeated watches unless you are hunting Easter eggs.
Putting Black Panther at 1 completely invalidates this list to be honest.
Saw Captain Marvel Friday, it was good. It's too hard to rank all Marvel movies ever but in the MCU movies it's solidly midrange.
Outside the MCU movies, top tier Marvels movies are Deadpool 1/2, Into the Spiderverse, and Logan. And while we're at it, Netflix Daredevil Season 2, Jessica Jones Season 1, and The Punisher Season 1.
This looks solid except for Winter soldier and Black Panther, I liked both of them much more than you did.

Honestly, I don't get the love for Spider-Man: Homecoming. The kid is a perfect Peter/Spider-Man, but the movie itself was very boring to me. Nothing stood out as memorable, ..shit...I've seen the movie 2 or 3 times and don't really recall any of the action/fight scenes. It was a pretty run-of-the-mill Spider-Man movie story wise, as well. Hot Aunt May must be giving it a bump. lol.
I suspect the next movie will be really good though.

Anywho, I'm gonna catch Captain Marvel either tomorrow or Tuesday. My expectations are pretty low though, based off the only trailer that I watched. Also my friends said its about in the same tier as Iron Man 2 or the first Captain America - neither of which I'm a fan of. I'm really only gonna see this because of the MCU tie-in and continuity before End Game comes out.
So I had never seen The Incredible Hulk until I saw it was on demand on TNT last night. Honestly I wasn't sure if I was watching the right thing or if it was some sort of joke even during the intro credits. What a steaming pile of manure that movie is.
