Former 4* S/CB, Wayne Davis is transferring from Ohio State

Another VA kid transferring out of Ohio State.

He red-shirted in 2016 and didn't get on the field much this last season. I believe he would have to sit out a year and then have two years left. Will we have any interest?

lol, I posted this very thing a few minutes ago in the recruiting thread, same link and all.

Hopefully he decides to come to VT, but...to be quite honest, I don't remember much about him. Were we in contention for him during the crooting process?

According to their website, he didn't move well enough to be a DB, so he would have to compete with Deablo Mook, Floyd, and Hunter and others to see the field. Not saying I don't want him, but there are probably better places for him.

Since Davis would have to sit out a year and be eligible in 2019, Mook will have graduated. Hunter worked at whip in the spring as well and with the way Foster has been using DB types in that position, the depth chart is not quite as crowded as it appears.

Looks like he had an offer and Zohn Burden was is primary recruiter after Bryan Stinespring. If he doesn't move well but has good ball skills it sounds like he would be in line for a Safety position, but I doubt he would contribute anything more than depth.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.
