So I haven't been in a few years now, but I decided to get it going at Jimmy Buffett this Summer. We used to go all the time, and it's so much damn fun I don't know why I haven't been in so long.
I am in the recruiting stage at the moment, but if you are going to be there you should let me know. If you have never been and think you would not enjoy it because you don't care about Jimmy Buffett, you need to get over it and give it a go, because I guarantee you leave a Jimmy Buffett fan. The pre game is wild and one of the most fun tailgates you will ever experience.
I have a group of 4 going already, with the number hopefully going. Get at me if you will be there.

Saw Jimmy a couple times in the 80's at Kings Dominion, definitely wild times back then.
Already going and would love to meet up.
I will be in contact with you before then. If for some reason they are Nazis with tailgating and only let people in two hours before, one of my work offices is literally next to the venue and tailgating can happen there until the lot opened. I have not had much trouble in the past though with getting in there early. They know people will just do it in the street otherwise.
Sounds good, my man. I think they will ease up for JB. I don't know when they made the 2 hour rule, but I saw him there a few years ago and we tailgated our asses off. I don't remember when they opened the lots, but I know it was more than 2 hours prior.
There are certain shows that I can definitely understand why they would not want tailgating all day and tons of alcohol. Jimmy Buffett is not very youth based, though so underage drinking is not a problem. And they are anything but a rough crowd. Tailgating is necessary for the full JB experience.
I have seen people tailgating in the Target parking lot and all the way down Wellington for Buffett until they opened the gates.
I'll just have to listen to JB on the radio that night because I am going to be on an island (OBX--Kill Devil Hill). I'll do my best not to step on a pop top and blow out my flip flop.
Buffett show is nearly upon us. Hit me up dakerrjr@vt.edu
That'll be very different from the Slayer show I'm seeing there this weekend.
So a few things on the topic of Jiffy Lube tailgating:
1) They do not allow tents
2) No table games - flip cup or beer pong, but you can have cornhole.
3) Lots open 2 hours before the door open time of the show.
Tailgating can suck there - but going into it with knowledge of what you can and can't do does help.
LiveNation Tailgating
These rules are generally always broken for JB. It is one of the stipulations of him playing the venue. It is also why he didn't go back to Virginia Beach for so long, but they finally got over it.
Edit: I actually remember in 2012 Jiffy Lube banned tailgating all together. There was lots of uproar, and it wasn't until the Jimmy Buffett show later that summer did they redact this new rule.
I would be interested but me and LancerHokie will be chillin' on the beach in the Outer Banks starting that day until the 11th.
Buffet did a GREAT job singing w/ the Beach Boiz on "Ko-ko Mo" @ Cap 4th. I could tell Stamos was enjoyingly living up that dream w/ the collab.
I will be getting there early afternoon hopefully on Saturday. wasknick at gmail if anyone wants to try and find me.
Where's wasknick?

It's tough to see the Busch light can in that picture.
Don't you know? You're not supposed to look for it, you've got to listen for it

Well played haha
Actually it sort of looks to me like he does have a Busch Light in his had.
Hey Nick, text us some pics from the JB experience
Pics do not do the Jimmy Buffett experience justice, but I will provide you with something.
Fine then. Take some vids, slap 'em to Youtube & then post 'em here. Bam. Boom. Done.
I understand that pics don't do the Buffett experience justice. Still want to see pics though. I think it would be entertaining to see you in a grass skirt and lei. That might even make the contact picture in my phone.
I can at least pretend to be there. I think if we weren't at the beach HokieEnginerd and I would have come to the concert.. I have always wanted to go to a Buffett show.
Here you go. This was quite awhile ago. Forgive me for cutting my ex out of the picture.
I want a current one from Saturday night... right now your picture is the one you sent me from the Busch factory.
What are you talking about? That is still exactly what I look like.
Ok all you TKP Parrotheads, be loud and proud tomorrow night. Radio Margaritaville is going to be live from jiffy lube tomorrow.
OP delivers and represents
Also, Is that the same hat?
It's the only one of those hats I have if that is what you are asking.
Did you steal the actual Lot 18 sign last fall?
It is a magnificent reproduction.
I'm here to tell y'all, this man had no Busch Light. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Don't let him spread his lies. Lol.
Glad I got to see you, brother. We failed miserably on the photo op.
Drank it all
The truth behind this story is there was a Total Wine right next to where we ate lunch so we went in there to buy beer. They had cases of Busch but they also had 36 packs of Miller lite for only $23. And the nerds I was with are alot like many of y'all and prefer it to Busch anyway. So thats what we had. Y'all know me, I cant tell a difference in any of them.
I honestly have no room to talk. There was no ass pocket on APFOW on this day. But, in my defense, someone had to steer ship home.
I also enjoy how when you found me in the lot earlier, I said I would try meeting up with you on the lawn. Forgetting that this is what you are dealing with.

What the hell are you talking about? I'm right over there.
If I didn't know no better, I'd say that's a Miller in your hand homie...
I can absolutely gaurentee you it was drank, I can.
Lot 18 Anthem this year:
This is also accepted:
What the hell did I just watch???
Ok y'all are back from Buffett, time for stories. What chicanery did you witness?
A bunch of under 21 year olds tried to get me to buy beer for them.
I always go to Buffett, but took this year off. Looks like a great set list.
PS. I don't know why, but I haven't been here in months. It's almost time, Let's go HOKIES!!
