Hooray! Will be there for that one as well!

I will be taking off work the day after that. Hopefully I can still sneak into the students section by then.

Rip his freaking head off!

Weaver said we had a night game forthcoming.......he didn't say when....or where...

If Hokiegirl is gonna be there i'm gonna be there. :)

At least its at home for the short week instead of traveling to ATL again.

This will be quite the way to kick off my senior year. Never though I'd say this, but thanks Weaver!

Wooo! Definitely will have to try and get to that one. Glad he didn't farm it out to FedEx Field!

This is good and all, but I just wanna know what the ACC's obsession is with Labor Day

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

Swofford REALLY loves wearing white and sees Labor Day as a festival of sorts.

The ACC obsession in the $$$$ ESPN is paying them to showcase an ACC team on Labor Day.

I'm pretty sure it's in the league's contract that they have to have a labor day game. Just like the provision that says that they must have something like 3 games on Friday nights. Just part of the TV deal.

I think it brings a national spotlight game to the ACC every year.

It used to be that Thursday night was equivalent to Monday Night Football in the NFL. Then, the NFL decided to start doing a Thursday night game every week and I think that has taken away from Thursday night football games.

When we had a Thursday night game, every football fan watched. It was great PR for the school and the ACC and Big East, when we were there. Now, only college football fans watch those games most weeks, most general football fans, I think, choose to watch NFL over college when they can. The NFL game at least dims the spotlight on the college games.

The Labor day games are usually very good match ups, and the NFL isn't in the regular season yet, so pretty much all football fans watch that game. I love it. I know it's tough on those of us who have to work but it's so worth it.

anybody else think we'll split with tOSU

they're (annoyingly) a pretty talented and well coached team right now. I think they'll beat us next year but I like our chances in 2015 with a QB who has been in the system enough to know it but they won't have any film on him (assuming Leal starts all of next year) and some more experience up front and at the RB position. Plus we should, by then, have more seasoned receivers.

I fully expect Bud to continue to reload on defense...I'm not worried about our D

Onward and upward

I hope so. I think they'll have us next year. We'll be replacing Logan, Tyler, Gayle. The following season we might have another new QB. This is a tough time to get this series.

OSU will lose likely lose Miller to the NFL and their backup QB Guiton, top 2 RBs, and 4 starters on the OL are SRs, so they lose a ton on the offensive side of the ball. I'm more worried about Meyer outcoaching us and having to go to the 'shoe.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Who are we replacing Wisconsin with for the games that were pushed back? Any rumors?

VHokie

I think one of the replacements will be the BMS matchup against Tennessee. I could be wrong about that though.

That seems accurate. I'm guessing we line up another neutral site game for 2017 as well then.

Yea, it was. Our OOC schedule is full for 2016 now. Maybe we're talking to Chik-Fil-A Kickoff about another trip there?

@VTimHokie85

we just cant let them take over lane. did anyone see their game at cal? there were sections of cal fans but most of that stadium was red. and this is in california. it blew me away. i know it would never be that extreme but those folks travel.

The game at Northwestern last weekend looked like an Ohio State home game in the stands. Sea of red!

"They've done studies you know, 60% of the time it works every time!"

Also have to remember the tOSU has around 50k undergrads. That mean a lot of people graduating every year. Northwestern pales in size compared to them. Think Wake and Tech in football. We have a lot more alumni, and a more fervent football fandom.

Plus, I know a lot of tOSU fans that have never taken a class there. They fill seats at away games just as well too.

They're from Ohio, I'd want to get the frick out too.

Hey! Ohioans have feelings too...

May we all get what we want and never what we deserve.

Wouldn't they get the normal allotment given to away teams? We'd simply have to sell our season tickets & get the students in the seats for a night game.......seems like it shouldn't be a problem.

___

-What we do is, if we need that extra push, you know what we do? -Put it up to fully dipped? -Fully dipped. Exactly. It's dork magic.

I was kind of thinking the same thing, season ticket holders basically own every ticket in the stadium except for the away sections (including students). So basically, no one sell their tickets, or if you do make sure it is to a hokie. I think tOSU will bring one of the larger followings, but I doubt they will take over lane.

What is this "night game" thing that you speak of?

I think it's when you have to shotgun a beer on one knee at the tailgate and the queen comes around and "nights" you with a foam finger...................something like that..............been too long to really remember.

"They've done studies you know, 60% of the time it works every time!"

Clearly, a night game on Labor Day is so much more convenient than a Thursday night when I take Fridays off!

Live for 32. Ut Prosim. Let's Go, Hokies.

This is the biggest game ever in Blacksburg! Can't wait to storm the fleld!

true, but if the next years go well for us and them, which it looks that way--it could be two top-5 teams playing each other like that 05 miami game.

I'll add - '03 #10 VT hosting #2 Miami (a game we actually won, and Beamer's only W vs. a top-5 team)

"Exit light..."

Yup!

Just don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves...a lot of big news this week, but we still have to play a aPm team that has beat us 4 straight times.

We had a few epic matchups with Miami back in the Big East.

Just please...for the love of all that is Hokie...DO NOT SCHEDULE A GAME THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY. I don't care if it's the lowest rated team in all of FCS.

Ohio St Mon 9/7
Furman Sat 9/12

So the whole "We learned our lesson and will never do that again." thing was just an outright fucking lie. Lovely.

Um, Yup.

At least, AT LEAST, the tOSU game is at home, so we won't be traveling for it...
(Maybe we could do to them what was done to us...give them a loss then send them home to stumble against youngstown state or directional michigan.)

I will be taking time off on Tuesday for it. Lane will be electrifying that night and I'm not going to miss that.

yes and no. I think they learned their lesson but with the ACC schedule set in stone, and the OOC games set--drawing in a high caliber team like tOSU requires some compromise. The only thing they could have done was put it on Saturday instead of Monday. But Monday draws the big bucks..

I think the lesson is scheduling Furman and not JMU

I'm going to take this opportunity to go on a short rant.

I hate the way they have set up the ACC schedule and I really don't like that it's "set in stone"

it really bothers me that kids will go to school for 4 (or 5 or 6) years and potentially never have the opportunity to watch VT play a regular season game against some of the best teams in the conference (Clemson, FSU, Louisville)

that is just outrageous. I don't know what was going on behind closed doors to make this schedule but it's absurd!!

rant done

Onward and upward

That comes with a larger conference...and allows for a marquee game in the ACCCG. Otherwise, the big boys are just knocking each other off before the beginning of December.

@VTnerf on insta, @BuryHokie on twitter, #ThanksFrank

well I think you could still get the best of both worlds. Eliminate the permanent cross overs and keep the 2 team rotation that we had in the old format. Keeps the big boys mostly protected and sets up the intrigue for the ACCCG but you still get a chance to see a team from the other division more than once every 8 years.

Onward and upward

I agree...I think they should do 6 in division games then the 2 out of division games rotate each year so you see every ACC team within 4 years. I know they are trying to make it so that the ACC championship game could be two top-5 programs battling it out, and that makes sense. But it also makes sense to play everyone in your division. I love that the NHL has adjusted the schedule so that all 30 teams will play each other this year...I don't like the conferences but I digress.

not remembering last year?

Calls from JMU to fill that next Saturday have gone unreturned

The Dude Abides

Too soon....

too soon

When I first read the story, I thought we were going to play ECU on short rest and I almost flipped out.

so now the mission is talking my parents to letting me stay for one more semester...

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

GRAD SCHOOL!

Was a little upset about pulling the Thursday night game this year. But Weaver is starting to earn my respect back: OSU to kick off the season, Tennessee the year after that, put WVU on the schedule again, got PSU, and Wisconsin in there too. Gotta a lot to look forward to

The Dude Abides

I'd heard this game was originally scheduled for the 26th and not the 7th. That date IMO would have been perfect because our QB wouldn't be making his 2nd start and Gameday was almost guaranteed to come to Lane

A bit off topic but does anyone know when next season's schedule is usually officially released? April or so? I want to make sure I get a Blacksburg hotel room this year and apparently 3 months prior to kickoff is not early enough.

Let's Go...

Generally in March, I believe. The ACC announces the schedules in February, so I would imagine it would be shortly thereafter in order to get a jump on Season Ticket sales which start late March.

Thank you sir, honorary turkey leg for you until I get my 20

Let's Go...

On a side note, there is just NOTHING better than paying $150 for a smokey, trashed room at Days Inn in Christiansburg

Let's Go...

Yay for /sarcastica!

Dude check out Radford's hotels. Hell I even see VT fans at the hotel right off exit 101 (my exit) at the lake. Its only a 20-25 min drive from bburg.

@AMB4VT

My family always used to stay in Salem, before I got an apartment in Blacksburg...

This could potentially be a HUGE opening game. AND it will be in Lane. Shit I get goosebumps already thinking about it.

Party Positive.

I think this should all be summed up with a brief video done by none other than yourself!!!
