I saw the trailer for the upcoming (2019) live action remake of the Disney Classic, Dumbo. Directed by Tim Burton who I feel is hit or miss. Staring Eva Green, Michael Keaton(I love), Danny Devito, Collin Ferrell, Alan Arkin and more.
How do we feel about this? They are playing around with some classics now and they can be very well done( Junglebook) or in my opinion poorly done (Alice in Wonderland by Tim Burton himself)

Tim Burton? Eva Green? Michael Keaton?
Count me in.
I agree on your take with Tim Burton, I gave up two separate times on making it through Alice in Wonderland. I am cautiously optimistic about Dumbo though, that could be a really fun one if done correctly, both Junglebook and Beauty and the Beast certainly were.
Beauty and the Beast? That movie was....underwhelming to say the least
I would feel a lot more comfortable if Jon Favreau was directing like Junglebook and the upcoming Lion King live action. He seems to have a great feel for this kind of stuff. I will say that Dumbo was always trippy enough that it could suit Burton's style well though.
Michael Keaton and Tim Burton always go together well
Agreed on both of those but same could have been said at one time about Johnny Depp...
There is no way this doesn't end in tears
I'm about to speak the dam troof, but I have never seen Dumbo.
What kind of childhood did you have?
I was more into true stories like Star Wars and Star Trek. Flying Elephants is pretty far out.
The physics is sound in Nick's assertion. Those ears lack the structure and area to provide enough lift to help an elephant fly. No stabilizers. No controls to make those turns.
Light sabres... totally possible.... right?
With the amount of booze and drugs Dumbo does, it's more amazing when he's not flying.
You're better off than me.
What THE FUCK is it with Disney, and killing off everybody's mom in the animated classics?
Just in case I got to you in time, don't watch Bambi, Old Yeller, King Kong (I know... It's not Disney, but's its fucked up. Jesus Christ, I tear up just thinking about King Kong) The Fox and the Hound, or The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Spoiler alert, FFS!!! /s
Not /s for Nick's sake, apparently.
Have you ever heard of Grimm's fairy tales?
Kids used to get injected with reality even before they got cell phones.
Not anymore.
You forgot The Land Before Time... Just the 1st one (maybe the second)... They are not good after past that.
What you don't like Land Before Time 23?
Team Petree!
...Damn, If only this thread happened 4 months ago when I hadn't yet named my kid.
Sigh... The movies of our childhood... We are officially old... Yup!Yup!Yup!
TLBT related--- who else had the puppets from Pizza Hut? I think I had the whole set.. I was so into dinosaurs and this movie, I had purple dinosaur Converse high tops.
Hey, I remember those.
Walt Disney's mom died when he was young which is why they like to kill off the mom in the classics. He basically wanted the movies to reflect his life in some way.
It looks good to me!
I hate the off-season!
I would assume that the murder of crows that give him the feather to hold onto so he can fly are going to be very different from the original version.
Not to mention the drinking scene...
I wasn't excited for this at all, like thinking I would pass on it. But it looks awesome. Lord willing moviepass is still around then.
BUT JUST GIVE ME A LION KING TRAILER.
FTFY
This may have been the best Honest Trailer I've seen
I am the worst at TKP. Fixed my post.
Honestly I thought "Dumbo" in the thread title was just going to refer to something else that Bronco Mendenhall said...
Carry on!
