The Orlando Sentinel provided more details regarding Norell Pollard's commitment to Virginia Tech.
"I started itchin," Pollard said of not being able to wait until July 1.
Pollard took a visit to the Blacksburg campus the weekend of June 8 and as he was leaving he figured he'd seen enough and he phoned the Hokies' coaching staff to let them know he was onboard.
"They just welcomed me like I was already on the team, all the coaches, players ... they just welcomed me and I felt like I was at home," Pollard said. "I told them when I was on the road, leaving campus ... just a little ways down the road. ... I'm 1,000 percent committed."
He committed to the Hokies 11 days ago.

I love it.
That's the environment we want.
THIS IS HOME.
The Wiggins Signal was up on the 11th, could this be that?
No
Does this mean I should stop checking the Wiggins Signal Up thread every 30 mins?
Edit: OK LAHokie, F5 it is!
Every 45 minutes should be sufficient.
Based on what I know, it's a different one.
Being from central Florida, it's a good thing he didn't take his official in December.
yall are killing me with this silence stuff.
So what's happening around July 1st? Or was that his sent commitment date?
he'd previously set July 1 to be his commitment date, yes.
Oh hi there fellow civil bro
Well hello. Nice name you got there.
What's the significance of July 1st?Civil beat me to it... drinking.
As if any of needed an excuse to drink!
I see you've been drinking before posting my good man
so what's the motivation to not commit immediately? letting other coaches who've recruited you know that you're going elsewhere? building anticipation? why the fuck not? i don't follow crootin' well.
Edit: spelling
Some kids like to build the suspense, or schedule a ceremony, have their moment, or inform others schools (as you said), etc... It is different on a case by case basis.
So do we have more silent commits than UVA had fans at their spring game?
Certainly more than UVA had spring games this year.
At this rate we won't be able to keep saying the numbers always work out as the window closes becuase we'll have 20 silent commits and have no idea what our actually count is but maybe that's Fuentes work around if they're all silent the NCAA can't track em so we can have unlimited croots
The silent signings will be a real trick.
Miami lived on that back in the day.
I didn't want to jinx it before, but I can only assume Joe is posting this because Pollard was indeed told to wait until we can announce several commits at once to build some momentum, insiders know but theyre staying hush.
