Despite the frustrations of last season, and that game in particular, RVD's block is still one of my all-time favorite plays.
Prediction for today: VT 21 - Pitt 17
Let's go Hokies!
At the beginning of the year I had a best case 24-10 and worst case 21-19 win for the hokies. Seeing the offense improve, I would say best case is 35-10 and worst case is 28-19. I would love to see a huge win for us, but this is a tough opponent...If the offense is humming like it was against UNC for the first half, it could be a huge game for us.
edit: worst case is a loss. by worst case, I mean the less than desired outcome---if things don't execute like they should: i.e. inept offense for a quarter or 2, defense bending but not breaking.

the read seems to have kind of died with last season, and I mean that for the NFL and for college. I haven't seen it being used too effectively.

His feet definitely left the ground, but it wasn't the same as targeting someone. KJ was trying to cover a lot of ground and make a play on the ball, so he dove and hit him hard. It's different than when a DB annihilates a WR as he's turning around by launching head-first into him. Hopefully the conference won't try to make an example of him. It was a vicious hit, but it was legal and that's football.
you nailed it. Shouldn't be penalized at all in my opinion. But if they want to start eliminating those kind of hard hits, they need to force players to lead with their arms in an effort to wrap.
