Not only "resolved" but "one of two reps for the team at a huge golf and food boondoggle" resolved. I REALLY hope Fu has the pulse of the locker room....

I think he does have the pulse of this team, because it's his.
He's making a statement, and that statement is that the situation is resolved and the team is moving forward. One thing that Fuente is NOT is indecisive.

Hey media, team, and fans... I get two players to take to the ACC media days to rep our school, be on ESPN, hob knob with herbstreit, golf with the coaches. One of those is a dude that was in the honor court a month ago though... lolol. Ya'll have any questions for Josh?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
You don't think there is any "motive" by Fu here? and do you honestly think he will entertain or allow josh to entertain questions about his suspension? THAT is trolling- putting a guy up to the podium and not allowing the elephant in the room to be mentioned.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Nobody could answer questions about it except Josh, not that he will. As far as I can see he was investigated by a no-nonsense court and not punished....that is about as close to innocent as I can think of.
Your post is news worthy though. To me, this decision is basically telling everybody JJ is the starter.

im not a fan off it. mid as well take Adonis and leave ricky at home too. I think this should be a privilege earned and if there was any truth to the issues at all (which obviously there was) what kind of message is it sending to the rest of the team? I personally would have much rather had peoples or CJ carroll or anyone else other than josh. but that's just my opinion.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Oh please. Josh's dad said there was an "issue". And it is a FACT that he was under academic review by the honor committee. If you choose not to believe that, it does not make it false.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Being accused of something is an issue, I agree. Doesn't mean he did anything. And everyone's experience with the Honor Court had made it out to be pretty unforgiving, so what leads you to believe he somehow got away with something?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Agreed, but go over it w/ Bud 1st, since that's sorta, kinda his thing (you know, in addition to being the GREATEST defensive minded coach in the history of the game).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Maybe, but humans make mistakes. Football players can get in academic hotwater, and the supposed love child of Bill Arnsberger and Tom Landry can give up uncontested 80 yard passes to triple option teams. Happens.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
there is a difference between someone calling someone guilty and someone saying there was an issue.
if the glove fits you must acquit. prime example of not being proven guilty. but do you see no issue with the situation? obviously that's a dramatization but the point is valid. The FACTS are that there was an ISSUE with JJ. I never said he was guilty of anything. Jamies Winston was never "guilty" of anything at FSU. but there sure were a lot of issues.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
To your famous jameis comment, if Jackson gets more academic related accusations I'll stand right next to you and say where there's smoke there's probably fire. Until then, it is a one time event that does not establish a trend.
It's pretty easy for me to separate a guy who stands on a table in public screaming about physically assaulting a woman in her genital area, steals stuff, and then is accused of sexual assault from a guy who is accused of some type of academic misconduct and is cleared by an investigation. For all you know JJ forgot to clear his TI-83's memory of information used in a geometry class for a calculus exam he took later, and the investigation found that the information accidentally stored was of no use anyways and everyone moved on. Who knows.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
But yet you seem to lack the ability to present those facts. The only thing we know is that he was accused or somehow involved with someone who was accused. Since there is no indictment or grand jury before going to trial I think your OJ example is almost as garbage as trashing a 19 year old for not getting into trouble.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Im not comparing OJ or even Winston to JJ. but to reply to my original comment with guilty until proven innocent is just as extreme as my examples because I never accused JJ of being guilt of anything.
because I cant state the facts of the incident does not mean that there was not an issue. issue and guilty of an offense are not the same thing. and I never stated that there was an offense. Just that there were issues and that I think someone with out issues could have taken that roll more deservedly.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yeah this is what I am trying to get at and he writes out much better than I did. You are saying that this issue is punishment worthy, and that doesn't make sense unless you are assuming guilt without facts.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Sometimes you also have to take into account public perception. If the perception is that he did something wrong, even if he didn't, the act of bringing JJ there could backfire in the public's eye.
I don't think that's the case here, and this is a message that nothing is wrong and he's our man next year... but I would hope any decision takes that into account.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
perception matters just as much as guilt when it comes to being a spokesperson for a multi million dollar brand. once you've put yourself in a situation where an accusation can be made about you whether guilty or not their are consequences, I would think not being at the ACC media day would be the minorest of said consequences. Take it as a lesson learned that whatever part he had in creating the "issue" in the first place. If I imply a presence of "guilt" that's because there is a "presence" unless you think the "issue" came out of thin air. His "guilt" in creating the issue NONE of us know. what we do know is it wasn't enough to get him expelled from school. But that does not clear him of any "presence of guilt" just clears him of the severity.
there are pleny of examples of this its why the court system builds cases they can win even if they believe that what they are trying you for is not the same as what you have commited... since we don't like the OJ scenario because its extreme..... lets say you get pulled over and cop says you were going 78 in a 35. you go to court you prove you were going 55. is there still a "presence of guilt" yes. but are you walking out of that court room with out a ticket. But the "issue" that you were speeding is what got you in the court room in the first place.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
You're assuming I was speeding in the first place. What if it was mistaken identity? A cop with a vendetta? How do you know? You're still making some assumptions of guilt which are unfounded.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
you're right. and if it happened to me would I be upset? yes I would. pain and suffering and defamation of character is about all you can do for that after the fact. unfortunately once something is released its a lot harder to roll it back. it effects peoples futures, and in this instance I would prefer to have VTs football media day be about football rather than this conversation right here. And again this is just my opinion and Is ONLY having to do with media day and not JJs guilt or innocence or even what he did or didn't do id rather have ANYONE else there.
and on a football note.... heck a ton of people don't even want JJ as the starter (im not one of them) but doesn't that just add more fuel to the fire? Everything about JJ as the media day spokes person just seems so off to me. maybe my reasoning for it is flawed. I agree with a lot of the comments we just don't have a lot of options when it comes to leadership on O right now. That's why I said Peoples in the beginning because hes a work house, was one of the first to get the hardhat during the spring but Ive never heard peoples in the media and maybe that's not a good roll for him at all.
freeking off season bro.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Your example says that you'd rather assume that JJ got off because they tried to throw the book at him and were unsuccessful and he walked.... as opposed to it was just a case of wrong place wrong time and that he didn't actually do anything wrong? Not sure how I am supposed to take that example as anything other than that.
Idk man, I really do not understand why you're so adamant in assuming guilt when he could just as easily have been misidentified or falsely accused.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
guilty of what? what have I accused him of being guilty of? even if he is only guilty of wrong place wrong time there is a "presence of guilt" hes guilty of being a part of an "issue" that came up in his academic's. NO one knows what that issue is and I have not claimed to know. whatever the "issue" was he got it resolved, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. I understand you guys point of view but ive never called JJ guilty of anything other than being involved in an issue. which is a known fact to everyone that followed college football, it was on the ESPN bottom line for crying out loud.
ive almost convinced myself just from listening to TKP and my own arguments that you know what... he had an issue but he resolved said issue and he shouldn't be punished for it because it had no effects on anything, the issue was caught and corrected before it became a REAL issue so heck he should be the guy for us at ACC media day. Maybe my initial post was a little haste and not that thought out. It was based on the initial emotion of JJ being the guy to speak for us and my most recent memory of JJ being the academic issue and me not wanting that to represent VT football. which is hypercritical as hell of me because I defend MV7 all day long. JJ cleared the issue up and moved on I will too. I got so busy defending my "I didn't say he was guilty" I lost sight of what was really going on. my B fam.

He was picked for ACC Media Days because he's the leader of the offense.
Whatever incident happened this summer is quite irrelevant, as it was resolved by the process that was set up for that very purpose. It worked just like it would have worked for any other student, unless we want to put the system on trial as well.
At the time these rumors initially surfaced, we had much the same discussion, where some people attempted to argue that they could presume innocence while simultaneously believing that he wouldn't have been accused had he not been guilty. To me, that's still a Schrodinger's cat argument, that presumes that the process is flawed from it's inception. I don't believe that it is. It worked the way it's supposed to. A process is only valuable if we believe in the way it's set up to begin with, and if we do, we should accept the results.

I mean, how can you say this? The guy was cleared. Not sure what else you want. Also, Adonis is entering the NFL draft and not with the team, not sure if you missed that news.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Yep, he was cleared. But before he was cleared he was suspended from the team pending an academic honor review. There are 84 other scholarship guys and a host of upper classmen that weren't suspended in June. Nope, nothing to see here folks.

Did you not follow the story at all? There was some bad reporting/innuendo/reactions over rumors.
Something happened for sure, but we don't know what it was, and it got resolved. Josh is a public figure, but this was a private matter that never needed to be aired. So you can cling to it with only innuendo, or you can let it go.

Am told there is no truth to reports that #VaTech starting QB Josh Jackson has been suspended indefinitely, a source told The Athletic.β Bruce Feldman (@BruceFeldmanCFB) June 8, 2018
(ICYMI) The status of #Hokies starting QB Josh Jackson is up in the air, according to his father. The family expects to learn more when the coaching staff returns to Blacksburg. https://t.co/O8dp2Id2e7β Mike Barber (@RTD_MikeBarber) June 8, 2018
"As of right now, Josh is still a member of the Virginia Tech football team," Fred Jackson said Thursday by phone. "We'll know more in two days. It's too early to talk about this."
Fred Jackson, 67, who spent 35 years in college coaching, including 22 at Michigan, said he's aware of social media posts claiming that his son is no longer on the team. He said, as of Thursday morning, those reports were not correct.

Putting aside the entire Jackson academic thing and whatever you think about that, you propose Peoples or Caroll. Those guys combined for 3 starts last year. They combined for 9 starts over their entire careers so far. No disrespect to either of them as they are both solid contributors and I'm sure they're great team mates, but they are not the face of our offense.

This may have been a reply to me...I say it could be used as a reward/incentive.
I also think by now you should by now have dispensed with the notion that starts in this offense are meaningful. Remember when Sam Rogers was the starting tailback?
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
It wasn't necessarily, but thanks for the input. I understand what you're getting at as far as starts, but it's just a way to illustrate that those two guys are not "feature" parts of our offense and really never have been. They play an important role, but they aren't the guys opposing DCs are game planning around.
Put another way, in his three years as a Hokie so far, CJ Carroll has touched the ball 47 times. Peoples has touched it 92 times. Even the guy you bring up, Sam Rogers, as a starter in name mostly, touched the ball 146 times before his senior year. He then had 91 touches as a senior, the year he went as our offensive rep to the media days. So even then, Sam was a fairly large part of our offense and definitely the emotional leader. I just don't see either Carroll or Peoples taking on either of those mantles (production or emotional leader).
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
not sure where to even reply in the thread but just because we don't know the severity of the issue doesn't mean that there wasn't one. he didn't go to the board over nothing. no where did I say anything specific just that there was an issue. I didn't say he was cheating. or failing class or anything about what happened. just that there were issues. if you don't think that there was an issue then what was all the commotion about? it wasn't a rumor that there was an issue. the school acknowledged it the coaching staff acknowledged it the media acknowledged it. so if you choose not to that's you looking the other way.
Im not asking for any kind of Jackson to be kicked of the team or suspended or anything of that nature but to parade him out for ACC media day? I just don't like it. ive agreed with everything fuente has done up to this. for someone who is so reserved with practices and media and fans this is kind of a slap in the face to me. again we don't all have to agree on this. this is just the way I feel about it. What would it possibly hurt to roll ANYONE else out there? maybe its some kind of physiological game hes playing with FSU? who knows what his thought process is. but I personally am not a fan of it at this time.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I disagree, however. He's the leader of the offense, which is a public role.
What we're talking about is addressing the rumor mill, and a good bit of the rumors we KNOW to be false. Some people clearly want to hold on to the issue, but he went through the process (which is normally private), and was cleared to continue as a student and member of the football team. It's over and there's no point in demanding an explanation or holding on to it.
The process was set up the way it was for a reason. Once the process is done and any decisions are made, it's over. The media can ask about it if they wish, and I'm sure they will, but I'd be surprised if they get anything much more than "It was a private matter and is over."
And I'm OK with all of that, because I trust the system, and I have a lot of confidence in Fuente.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
I think I see what you're saying. Jackson sort of has a black eye in the public perception department (right, wrong, or indifferent), and that could have a bad look for the program/ stir the pot. But given Fuente's track record as a character first guy, I think its actually the opposite. I think Fuente knows the whole situation and through it all feels like Jackson is a stand up guy and worthy of being the face of the program. If anything legitimate had happened, I don't believe Fuente would bring him. So in my mind this is vindication for Jackson and the best the program can actually do to clear his name given that academic affairs are private. Maybe I have too much trust in Fuente, but there has not been any evidence at any point since he's been here that he is anything but a class act.

So I sat here for a minute trying to think of who else he could bring besides JJ... Pretty scary that we have absolutely no upperclassmen/warm bodies on the offensive side of the ball with any sort of consistent production or star power other than maybe Nijman, who has at least been a consistently productive starter. Gonna need some young guys to step up huge this year.

I think this is really his point. As 15 mentioned, I can see one of the lineman before the other two offensive players you mentioned. No disrespect, but none of those guys is on much of a national, or even regional, radar. Hopefully it's a different story by the end of the season, but we just don't have many returning offensive players that have opposing DCs awake at night.

I'm calling it a power move. Sort of becoming standard Fuente M.O.
In this case, let's see if any VT beat reporters have the stones to ask the obvious. Then you'll see where the power lies. If they don't, Belicheck-lite gets to eat his cake and have it too.
As it is, there are 1/2 a dozen beat reporters hashing the same quotes, and tweeting them within seconds of one another. VT beat coverage is straight boring now.

Call it what you want, trolling or a coach taking his returning starting QB...I think it's a chance to grow and move past whatever it is that happened. To my knowledge, he hasn't faced the media since all that hoopla went down, now he's going to. Instead of hiding him back in Blacksburg, bring him down, get the interrogation by the media out of the way, and move on towards the season.

Coleman Fox would have been a bold move. Jump starting the Heisman campaign and giving opportunity for FU to make amends for what happened in the past.

It's disingenuous to call dc a troll. A troll is someone who posts garbage that they don't actually believe just to rile people up. Dc is just controversial.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
The definition has shifted that way over the past 10 years. It's much like how everyone calls an image with text over it a meme now instead of an image macro, which is what they were originally called way back in the mid 2000s. That won't stop me from being an annoying stickler about it when it comes up though.

Yeah, the word came from trolling, like for fish. Not the ugly green things. A lot of the trolling back in the day wasn't really inflammatory either, just really getting some rise from people when you don't really have skin in the game. Probably the best troll is the Flat Earth Society forum, KenM is also pretty good.
People who drum up controversy to get people angry are just assholes.

I am not trying to sow discord by posting inflammatory and digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, but where do you get your definition for a "troll"?
Somewhat like the details about an honor court situation, nobody but DC understands his motivations. One can speculate that he says the shit he does simply to illicit an emotional response, hence a troll. Maybe he is just is an asshole. It isn't disingenuous to label him one or the other (or both)... just sayin'.

I got my personal definition of trolling from being on certain parts of the internet for a really long time, but Urban Dictionary's highest rated definition is actually a pretty comprehensive overview of trolling as I believe it to be and what makes it different from flaming.
Trolling requires decieving; any trolling that doesn't involve decieving someone isn't trolling at all; it's just stupid.

I see it as a tool for Fuente to use to see what kind of mettle his QB1 has and challenge his poise. We heard comments from Fu in the spring that JJ needed to take his focus and leadership to another level. And then landing himself in the controversy over the summer was probably not exactly what Coach had in mind for the continued maturity and growth of his starting QB. I think he's challenging him, seeing how he handles potentially tricky media questions, and throwing him in the spotlight where he needs to thrive if he can successfully lead this team. There were plenty of times during games last season when his body language was poor when the going got rough. I view this as a statement and test by Fu.

Can this just be something as simple as Josh is the leader of a young offense, and Ricky is the leader of a young defense and they will speak for their respective side of the ball? Don't think it's a troll job, honestly, we may be reading into this too much. I think it's great that the coach is having the guy up there to speak for himself as well, it's an accountability move, and I like that. I don't think that was his primary motive though.

I am suddenly reminded that while at the beach for the 4th, a friend was with a fine young lady that graduated from WVU.
We both waxed poetic back and forth about our favorite universities and I agreed with her points in a gentlemanly manner then lastly entered the reposte' that in Morgantown, couches are afraid of the same thing as "The Hound".
After a brief pause, she flushed red and reluctantly agreed that I had won our duel. it was a fine day.
Clegane bowl #1 goes the VT.

I see this not only as a good and proper move by Fu, but a very savy PR move. Jackson is being trained as the leader of the team, and even in tough circumstances, a leader has to be poised. I'm sure he will be practiced in answering the questions, and tow the company line. The line will be "the issue was resolved positively, and we've moved on, it's time for everyone else to do the same". This becomes a move to mature JJ, and hopefully remove the issue as a distraction.
If JJ did not go, there would be a lot more questions regarding "the issue", and without JJ there to address it, it would fall to Fuente to answer, which would take time away from the team aspect of the interviews, which would not be good. There would be the "what are they trying to hide?" faction of media and fans that would view JJ's absence as a dodge. Having Jackson there blunts the discussion by facing it, and moving past it. Fuente would make a wonderful press secretary for a politician, but I'm thankful he's a coach instead.

Yep, JJ will get 3 questions, tops, about the situation and then it'll be dead and buried (as much as that's possible at any rate). It's a much better situation than it hanging over his head and JJ/Fuente giving the impression he's hiding from it throughout the rest of his career.
Log in or register to post comments about the Virginia Tech Hokies
Ehhh, I'm not sure about it. While I know it'll be less than 10, a lot of the questions will be the same, just rephrased differently & repeated ad nauseum. Part of the deal.

You're probably right, but at any rate, it'll be a day or two of it and then likely done for the foreseeable future (in interviews at any rate, I'm sure ESPN/ACCDN folks will pick at it for the first couple weeks of the season).

There's also the matter that Fu couldn't answer questions regarding JJ's academics, so he would have to do the obligatory "I am not allow to comment on that question" kind of response, which would fan what should be nonexistent flames even further.

I would think Coach Fuente is just picking the leaders of our Offense and Defense to speak during the ACC media days.
I've been thinking about the clusterfyck the whole JJ thing was. Could it be that the whole JJ misspeak was passed along by someone of hard hearing resulting in a very fuc*ed up version of the "Telephone game"?
The dialogue might have gone like:
---Begin Act 1---
Ernest: Hey, Vern! You heard that AA got suspended from the team?
Vern: Say it ain't so! JJ?
Ernest: You broke up a bit there. Anyway, my inside guy told me this over breakfast at Hardee's. Man, dem biscuits and gravy hit the spot.
Vern: Boy do I love me some Hardee's. Got any of them coupons left?
Ernest: Sure do, Vern. I'll stop by and drop some off later today.
---End Act 1---
---Begin Act 2----
---End Act 2---

JJ is our quarterback. Bud gave him a glowing review on spring practice, and now Fuente is telling everyone that he is the man. Is that not enough to stand behind him and give him the support he will need ? This is a young team, and he is the man. Please stop trying to step on his throat. The coaches have spoken.

So I guess this means the issues have been officially resolved, huh?
What issues? I don't have issues. Do you have issues?
It's the off-season. That alone is an issue.
Not only "resolved" but "one of two reps for the team at a huge golf and food boondoggle" resolved. I REALLY hope Fu has the pulse of the locker room....

Meh, wouldn't call it a troll job. Typicals are typical, not rules. He's taking his guns to the gun show. I'm good with it.

Guilty until proven innocent is alive and well I see.
Oh please. Josh's dad said there was an "issue". And it is a FACT that he was under academic review by the honor committee. If you choose not to believe that, it does not make it false.
Being accused of something is an issue, I agree. Doesn't mean he did anything. And everyone's experience with the Honor Court had made it out to be pretty unforgiving, so what leads you to believe he somehow got away with something?
I'm not here to argue semantics. But random football players don't just show up every day accused of academic honor violations.
You're just here to be dramatic then.
No, dramatic is pretending that nothing happened with Josh Jackson this offseason. THAT is dramatic.
So...we're dramatically arguing being dramatic.
first thing I saw here was "I have a structured settlement". Damn you Joe!!!
Insert gif of Neymar acting like an orange when he is touched.
Maybe we should give Jackson a pass on this whole thing, given we don't know what happened
Agreed, but go over it w/ Bud 1st, since that's sorta, kinda his thing (you know, in addition to being the GREATEST defensive minded coach in the history of the game).

Who knows.
But yet you seem to lack the ability to present those facts. The only thing we know is that he was accused or somehow involved with someone who was accused. Since there is no indictment or grand jury before going to trial I think your OJ example is almost as garbage as trashing a 19 year old for not getting into trouble.
The fact that you think he deserves less because of the so called "issue" implies some presence of guilt.
If you don't think he did anything wrong, why would he not deserve to represent the team?
Yeah this is what I am trying to get at and he writes out much better than I did. You are saying that this issue is punishment worthy, and that doesn't make sense unless you are assuming guilt without facts.
Sometimes you also have to take into account public perception. If the perception is that he did something wrong, even if he didn't, the act of bringing JJ there could backfire in the public's eye.
I don't think that's the case here, and this is a message that nothing is wrong and he's our man next year... but I would hope any decision takes that into account.
perception matters just as much as guilt when it comes to being a spokesperson for a multi million dollar brand. once you've put yourself in a situation where an accusation can be made about you whether guilty or not their are consequences, I would think not being at the ACC media day would be the minorest of said consequences.
You're assuming I was speeding in the first place. What if it was mistaken identity? A cop with a vendetta? How do you know? You're still making some assumptions of guilt which are unfounded.
you're right. and if it happened to me would I be upset? yes I would. pain and suffering and defamation of character is about all you can do for that after the fact. unfortunately once something is released its a lot harder to roll it back. it effects peoples futures, and in this instance I would prefer to have VTs football media day be about football rather than this conversation right here.
Your example says that you'd rather assume that JJ got off because they tried to throw the book at him and were unsuccessful and he walked.... as opposed to it was just a case of wrong place wrong time and that he didn't actually do anything wrong? Not sure how I am supposed to take that example as anything other than that.
Idk man, I really do not understand why you're so adamant in assuming guilt when he could just as easily have been misidentified or falsely accused.
guilty of what? what have I accused him of being guilty of? even if he is only guilty of wrong place wrong time there is a "presence of guilt" hes guilty of being a part of an "issue" that came up in his academic's.
You're good. And I'm definitely a staunch defender of anything JJ, so that's prolly part of the misunderstanding.
That's prolly MOST of the misunderstanding, not part (& don't be misled, not an attack or insult).
I mean, how can you say this? The guy was cleared. Not sure what else you want. Also, Adonis is entering the NFL draft and not with the team, not sure if you missed that news.
Yep, he was cleared. But before he was cleared he was suspended from the team pending an academic honor review. There are 84 other scholarship guys and a host of upper classmen that weren't suspended in June. Nope, nothing to see here folks.
he was never suspended
Yes he was
No, he wasn't. You must have read selectively.
Did you not follow the story at all? There was some bad reporting/innuendo/reactions over rumors.
Something happened for sure, but we don't know what it was, and it got resolved. Josh is a public figure, but this was a private matter that never needed to be aired. So you can cling to it with only innuendo, or you can let it go.
sigh...
The truth will set you free!
Yes...well, most of the time. A LOT of times it'll get you killed or can land you in jail.
"IMO" at its finest
Putting aside the entire Jackson academic thing and whatever you think about that, you propose Peoples or Caroll. Those guys combined for 3 starts last year. They combined for 9 starts over their entire careers so far. No disrespect to either of them as they are both solid contributors and I'm sure they're great team mates, but they are not the face of our offense.
This may have been a reply to me...I say it could be used as a reward/incentive.
I also think by now you should by now have dispensed with the notion that starts in this offense are meaningful. Remember when Sam Rogers was the starting tailback?
I just don't see either Carroll or Peoples taking on either of those mantles (production or emotional leader).
not sure where to even reply in the thread but just because we don't know the severity of the issue doesn't mean that there wasn't one. he didn't go to the board over nothing. no where did I say anything specific just that there was an issue.
I think you have a valid opinion.
Can we start practice soon. The offseason and the heat is getting to us...
Chung, Peoples, Nijman, Carroll, Hill, Mihota. (yes, I know not everything is on the O side here)
I think this is really his point.
Oscar Bradburn....his Cool accent and some funny stories.
But which ACC caliber players is Bronco taking with him?
Well, he has 27 to choose from...
They don't generally let you borrow other teams' players, so he's probably stagging it.
(not to be confused with staging it, which is Bronco's usual strategy)
I'm calling it a power move. Sort of becoming standard Fuente M.O.
In this case, let's see if any VT beat reporters have the stones to ask the obvious. Then you'll see where the power lies. If they don't, Belicheck-lite gets to eat his cake and have it too.
As it is, there are 1/2 a dozen beat reporters hashing the same quotes, and tweeting them within seconds of one another. VT beat coverage is straight boring now.
I don't doubt the question will be asked. I also don't doubt that Jackson is prepared for it.
The fact is that the reporting that was done on this was completely base on rumors, so if you want to be critical, be critical of that.
Other than the outcome, which surprised me, this was not smoke without a fire. We just don't know confirmed details.
Exactly. We don't know the details. All we know is that something happened, and it got resolved. A lot of the coconut telegraph got it wrong.
I think it's spectacularly ballsy & I say good-on them.
Coleman Fox would have been a bold move. Jump starting the Heisman campaign and giving opportunity for FU to make amends for what happened in the past.
Virginia Tech Feature Back Coleman Fox, please.

I find it ironic the biggest troll on TKP is calling out a Troll job by Fuente
It's disingenuous to call dc a troll. A troll is someone who posts garbage that they don't actually believe just to rile people up. Dc is just controversial.
I'm not sure it's a requirement that you don't actually believe what you're saying in order to be a troll.
The inflammatory/outrageous/not letting it go is the part that makes it trolling
I think that's just the difference between trolling as an act and being an asshole.
I always thought one was just an instance of the other.
Ah yes, you read it on the Internet so, it must be right, especially if its voted on by a bunch of people that have only been on the Internet 10-12 years or less.
I don't know, that definition has been around for 9 years. I doubt too many 1-3 year olds we're voting on Urban Dictionary back then.
it would be more ironic if he was calling out a troll job by Foster.
Well, I will say this, this thread has been exactly what I expected of who posted it.
Uh...I get why someone may cal this a troll job but....this isn't a troll job. He's the starting QB, not the backup long snapper....
Or the backup fake punter?
It'll be a real twist when Chase Mummau walks up to the podium and they ask the crowd if anyone has questions for Josh Jackson.
VT's resident imposter!
via GIPHY
I like both Josh and Ricky as being the VT reps at media days. Both have a solid head on their shoulders and are the definite leaders of their sides of the ball.
So much THIS ^^^^^^^^^.
Fuente is bringing his impact players, who are also well-spoken.
Does TKP get media credentials for this thing? If so, could whoever goes make sure the first question asked of the UVa contingency "so who are the other 25?"... follow-up question "who is the first one out?"
Well one beat writer won't be asking questions.
I don't know.... almost sounds like he'll be asking questions on behalf of a different employer.
Bitter to TKP. You heard the unsubstantiated rumor here first.
Stop trolling...
Actually, you heard it here first.
Drink.
Any insight as to where he's going?
I hope the RT isn't Bitter about his departure
I'll see myself out
Ranoke Times,

Bitter's awesome and the podcast he does with McFarling is super entertaining.
Did they talk about Hokie Football on said Podcast?
Pretty even split between that and Aaron's gambling addiction.
What was it called?
Hokies Press Pass Podcast. It's under "Roanoke Times" on SoundCloud.
Best description of the podcast by far
So if any other team takes a player that happens to not be a senior, are they "trolling" the rest of the conference too?*
*asking for a friend.
Plenty of Juniors going. And even another soph.
https://accsports.com/acc-news/acc-announces-athletes-attending-2018-acc-football-kickoff/
Soooooo QP isn't the starter?
Can this just be something as simple as Josh is the leader of a young offense, and Ricky is the leader of a young defense and they will speak for their respective side of the ball? Don't think it's a troll job, honestly, we may be reading into this too much. I think it's great that the coach is having the guy up there to speak for himself as well, it's an accountability move, and I like that. I don't think that was his primary motive though.
While I'm thankful to learn who Fuente is taking to ACC media days, this thread is quickly devolving into hot garbage...
All in favor of changing it to a condiment thread?
Hey, that bears an exact replica of the US Men's Nat'l Soccer team!
I thought it was a look at Tennessee back in December.
This thread started as hot garbage.
Yes. While it should have been an announcement, it was more of a troll job.
^+1 From my thoughts to your keyboard.
Yep, JJ will get 3 questions, tops, about the situation and then it'll be dead and buried (as much as that's possible at any rate). It's a much better situation than it hanging over his head and JJ/Fuente giving the impression he's hiding from it throughout the rest of his career.
Both will probably be captains and Josh is the Qb. And they are receiving most of the pre season buzz
Oof. Not only are we at peak offseason, we're at peak DC.
We've been at peak DC since 1987.
Peak DC?
If this is a troll, then either I don't know what a troll is anymore or I will give it a troll level 1.
returning starter of a position that is the most important position on a football team.... go figure.
Troll, no. Message, yes.
Question for DC. Why do you come off as an asshole?
Wait is this one of those riddles where the answer is actually the question itself?
Troll on JF. Troll on....

pretty funny little note from the top hat with lazer...
"we had a couple senior offensive linemen that probably deserved to be here that are afraid of the microphone" --Justin fuente on why he brought JJ to media day
