Art Briles has agreed to become the coach of an American football team in Italy and says he still has not been given a definitive reason why he was fired by Baylor University.
How does he not understand why he was fired?

Do we really need the Non Hokie Thread signifier for these? Its the Football Forum, not the Hokie Football Forum.
Agree.
I'm never sure where to put football related things that aren't VT related. Its a football topic, but its also an off topic. It's gesture to people who care.
Nearly no one cares which forum a topic is posted under because we all use the tracker or sidebar.
The Football Forum covers all topics football, not just VT information. You should be fine to just throw any general football thread in there, be it college or NFL, as it should still be on topic.
Some people don't frequent specific forums, but use Active Discussions on the main page, which does not show which forum a post is in. The NHT tag is appropriate, IM(ns)HO.
I would argue:
1. It's not clear what "NHT" means, unless you look at one comment where it was explained by the OP; it's not common Internet vernacular
2. "NHT" is redundant when the title makes it obvious that the news has no direct relation to VT
3. As Alum said, we post plenty of non-VT news here, in light of the fact that general discussions of football news, etc. are of interest to the community here. Truly OT stuff (favorite beers, restaurants, movies, random news events) are pretty clear, too, and have their place.
As somebody told me recently, "You can argue, just not with me." ;^)
(TBH, I don't have a strong opinion on this matter. Use it, or don't. Just wanted to make the point that some people use the site in such a way that the specific forum a topic is posted on is not visible.)
There are specific forums? I thought once something dropped off the active discussions list on the right side it just didn't exist anymore.
And what is the 'tracker'?
/s (kind of. maybe. get off my lawn)
I swear, as bad as some folks nitpick things in here it makes Sheldon Cooper seem humble.
well he can develop football there
It's a real shame he turned out to be such a bad guy. Objectively speaking, he is an absolutely brilliant football mind.
Maybe Art is like "guys, did you fire me because of our on field performance, or was it the lack of institutional control, or the lying and cover up, or is it something else?"
Also I am applying for this gig in Italy, can I use you as a reference?"
Biding his time till Ian McCaw dials him up after Turner Gill is fired.
What level of football is this? I'd think if he went back to coaching high school in Texas that's a better gig than this
Highest Italian level, but still fairly low overall. Looking at the league as a whole, its mainly comprised of guys who peaked in the DII or DIII level of college football.
John Grisham wrote a novel based on it called "Playing for Pizza".
How much would it cost to get a retired coach like Stoops to go coach Briles's rival team to make sure Briles doesn't win anything ever again?
Not much to worry about there. Florence (Firenze) is pretty bad. They were just promoted to the premier division in 2016 and they were an easy out in the first round of the playoffs. The league has been dominated by Milan, with either the Rhinos Milano or Milano Seamen winning the Italian Superbowl each of the last 5 years.
