I'll wait till the California Template comes out
EDIT: No I'm not a dad, but i'm working on it.
hmmm I didn't even notice how similar these were to the Cal unis before they switched over to UA. that's disappointing.
Took me about 10 minutes to get this...
Also just got it... I stick to my original statement though. These are too similar to the old nike Cal unis.
This is what we're talking about right? That was my immediate first thought, but engineering school was kind of a long time ago for me at this point.

I was also wondering - who would want a New Jersey template?
Like...currently? And on TKP at the same time? That's the perfect woman right there!
The neck trim on the back looks like a circus tent.
Not a fan.
The more I see of them. the more the front has grown on me and the more the back looks worse and worse
I'm curious to see how this plays out on the field. Yes, it looks really dramatic on the gear being sold...
But if you compare to what was sold last year

And where the nameplate was located on the actual on-field uniform...

That 'gap' might be completely hidden when worn on the field. Makes for a horrible look on the fan unis, but might not be that bad on the field... For more perspective, here's Cal's last Nike uniform:
And here's how it looked on the field:

This could be a case of the game-worn template not translating over very well at all to what is sold to the fans.
Took a little bit of digging, but I found these pics from the unveil earlier this year:
In terms of the template alone, the stripe will end on a plane even with the end of the collar, so its not going to be anywhere near as dramatic as is shown in the replicas. Also, given the way the uniforms tend to mold to the pads, the effect should be even lessened during use in games.
Ahhh okay, that does look a lot better than the fan version. Thanks for clarifying fellas.
Shoulder pads vs. non-shoulder pads
I don't understand the appeal of getting modern jersey styles with former players' names on them. I'd much rather get a replica of the jersey said player actually wore.
I hear ya, but it's probabaly either former players or nothing at all these days on new jerseys.

I don't really see the appeal either. I guess its a different way to tie the past and the present together?
I lucked out a few years ago and found a Tyrod #5 jersey from 2009 on eBay for relatively cheap, though, so I'm good for my jersey needs haha.
Has nothing to do with appeal, and everything to do with schools not being able to capitalize on current players names.
Are these actual jerseys or those weird Nike T-shirt hybrids?
For a hundy they better be jerseys, not t-shirts.
For the record, Campus Emporium has the Tyrod Taylor jerseys for sale as well, but they have uploaded an actual picture of the merchandise, and not a computerized render of the template. Its not as severe as what is shown on Fanatics, and you can tell the shoulder stripes are sewn in, and not screen printed. The VT on the neck also appears to be a sewn on logo, but everything else appears to be heat pressed/screen printed.
The orange stripes are fabric, the white stripes are heat pressed. Saw them at Volume II weekend before last.
sigh... but probably could have been worse. One stitched seam on the shoulder instead of 3 is probably for the best, when I think about it. At least the orange collar and orange stripe will match.
I don't like the orange in the back at all. Looks like they draped a short scarf with those ends.
Wear shoulder pads, it won't look so bad.
"For sale" not "On sale"......Sorry. I was hoping they cut the price for the start of the season.
I personally don't get the appeal of buying jerseys. Kids...yes. Grown men...nope.
your loss
Not really. haha
I like them because when I wear my size M replica around town with jeans on in my 5'9", 165 lb. frame, people mistake me for being on the team. Good confidence boost.
In all seriousness though, I really like all my authentic and replica jerseys for most sports, but I've never had a good replica Tech jersey fit-wise. I don't have super long arms, but I'm not a T-Rex either and all of the jerseys I've bought come down almost to my wrists.
I mean you aren't forced to wear them.
oh, and I don't. Not trying to crap on people that do wear them...go for it. I personally just don't get it.
It's a way to support your team on game day. I don't understand what there is to get?
I can support my team just as well with a polo. I'm with Eddie, I just don't get it.
#NTTAWWT
Right. I'm not wearing grey from head to toe on game day. I've got gear on. Just not a fan of the jerseys. Nothing against the people that wear them (as I said)....just not for me. I think they're way overpriced and not very comfortable.
So when you say you don't get it, what you really mean is that you DO get it, but just don't want to pay for a jersey.
I mean, there are also maroon t-shirts. To each their own.
I don't understand the appeal. That's what I'm saying. As you said, to each their own. I'm not looking at the fans in the stands thinking "that dude looks like a moron" for wearing a jersey. I just do not understand the appeal.
I have a framed Vick VT jersey on my wall. That's the only jersey I own.
If you saw me in my ratty #18 home jersey from '13 or my Beamer 25 jersey with my arms extruding out of the over-sized sleeves like a T-Rex, I promise you you would say "that dude looks like a moron".
I look great in my jersey. 1 out of every 10 women approve.
As long as that 1 woman is your woman, you're good to go Stiney
That's because you have the real deal, homey!
Haha. Nice.
Look how sweet my avatar looks though
One thing I will say: the orange is more burnt (as it should be) and I dig that.
I bought the Tyrod jersey last week. The quality seems good, but not great. I'll be wearing it at the FSU game, so I'll report back on comfort.
Bought the Vick Jersey and plan on wearing it to the ODU game. Got my ODU season tickets in the mail couple days ago, now to figure out to do with the rest of the tickets...
Put them on Stubhub and consider yourself lucky if you can make back a quarter of face value.
I love wearing jerseys but damn if this new era of cheaper materials and fabric but more expensive jersey doesn't piss me the hell off.
inflation is a bitch
An item that cost $100 in 2002 would cost $140 today. From 2007 to 2018? $121.
Its not that cheaper things are more expensive, its that prices are finally adjusting to inflation.
And when salaries do that too, we'll be all set!
I mean, only a little. In 2010 I paid $80 for one of the black Pro Combat jerseys. That same jersey would cost $93 today. And that was a limited edition jersey with good quality material, stitched letters and numbers, etc.
So $100 now was $87.95 in 2010. So it's not that much inflatation. It was only 2012-2013 that regular home jerseys were only $60-$70. Which would be $66-$77 now. In 2012 I paid $40 for the standard 2012 home #11 jersey.
It's Nike, UA, Adidas being greedy just as much.
Agree- it's not the price, it's the fact that the older Nike jersey's were thicker, had sewn on number options, etc. These are like a UA dry fit shirt on steroids.. the bristol ones were horribly made- a t shirt basically. And not even "cut" like a jersey either.
If you're interested in selling it for $93, let me know :)
Someone offered me $200 for it at the 2015 UNC game. You gotta go higher boss!
Funny anecdote, I told my wife someone offered me $200 for it when I got home that night. She is a jersey hater. She doesn't mind me wearing them to games but when we're hanging out wearing casual clothes she hates when I wear anything that's not a casual t shirt, polo, button up, etc. She wanted to kill me when she heard I turned down a $200 offer for it haha.
Damn. I have this one http://uniformcritics.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/icon_12250828-675x3... I'll probably never get rid of it, its definitely the highest quality college jersey I own....Also haven't ever washed it so its covered in years of tailgating mishaps.
I wish that would be our away jersey forever. I'd do some dirty things to have one to pair with my black one.
Hmm I've been looking for a black one....trade you half my jersey for half yours mine is also 5 so this would work out.
Mine is 34 /: haha
Being 100% honest. I'm more likely to buy a throwback Vick jersey off ebay than I am to buy one of these. More comfortable and just like the look better.
I will say that I think the new unis are a big improvement. I also love the "TECH" on the pants.
That rugby jersey is fire.
normally people aren't a fan of stripes around here
Anyone else see an opportunity for adding an extra piece of color below the collar to make it concave curve and silhouette of Torgersen Bridge?
