for off-campus food, my grandma's house is #1 (she lives in McCoy). tough decision for places in downtown blacksburg...i'd probably go with souvlaki, the cellar, or mikes (in that order).

@historyhokie.bsky.social

Facts of life: Grandma's in McCoy make better food than anyone.

I LIKE #ALLOFTHEFOODS

Onward and upward

and substation II

that was a staple of mine in college..mostly because it wasn't a very long walk from my primary home (randolph)

Onward and upward

Substation II is good. Definitely was my go-to spot for lunch - or Mike's.

Mikes was great. Although I loved Substation II as well, mostly because it was twice as good as Substation I.

...I may be the only one who ever found that funny, but I still do.

There's always a lighthouse. There's always a man. There's always a city.

7. The Cellar

My ex-gf lived in cochrane and I got sick of that place pretty quickly..the halls were all dark and the rooms were old and not very welcoming. Westend is great though! I loved eating there. I usually went for a burger from the gobbler

Onward and upward

Yep - the nice thing about West End is that at the end of the year (and after reloading my plan ump-teen times) you could buy raw ribeye's to take out for grilling.

1) Pork
2) Tomato
3) Cake
4) Beer
5) Owens
6) All I ever get are pop tarts and juice :( Shoutout to the nice old lady who offered me and another trumpet brats, they looked delicious

Calzones at The Cellar are the best because it's basically three of them in one serving. Plus get there for Hammertime, then you're fat and drunk.

I just sit on my couch and b*tch. - HokieChemE2016

6. Breakfast. Yes, please.

Remember Arnold's? Maybe Macado's. I used to work at Backstreets....good pizza there.

Backstreet's is closed now :( A mellow mushroom is coming in

HOKIE HOKIE HOKIE HI
'14 grad

Do not fret too much. I loved Backstreet's, my girlfriend and I had our first date there.

But, Mellow Mushroom is awesome. It's different for Blacksburg. If you like Pizza, especially specialty pizza then you'll love this place. They also have an obsurdly large beer selection.

I've had one of their pizza's in hooville, it was tasty

HOKIE HOKIE HOKIE HI
'14 grad

Mellow Mushrooms, which I've never heard of, sounds like it will be the place for white-people-with-dreadlocks, hacky-sackin', organic-bread-eatin', don't-let-the-man-turn-you-into-an-eigman hippies.

This would be an accurate assessment. Good pies, but they don't make their own dough which is disappointing for me.

I've been to the one in Hooville a couple times. Decent pizza, but I will miss Backstreet's, which was one of the first restaurants I went to in Blacksburg when my sister was in school there. We also had my rehearsal dinner there a couple years ago. It will be missed, and no chain pizza place will ever hold a candle to it, IMHO.

"Exit light..."

3. Yes
4. Bourbon (barrel-aged beers are a close 2nd)
5. West End

2. Mustard
3. Cake
4. Bourbon
5. West End/D2
6. Breakfast

I really hate spending money so I don't eat off-campus very often. When I do it's when my family is visiting and we go to Olive Garden.

Rip his freaking head off!

What what? No Cabo Fish Taco anyone?

Let's Go...

No because the Tequila comes in much bigger ratio and proportion at El Rodeo although Cabo is no slouch

Rob Peterson

2) tomato
3) pie/cobbler
4) depends on the mood, so i'll say both
5) have to ask my wife or an alum friend
6) breakfast, cant go wrong with bacon egg and cheese on the grill washing it down with some cold ones
7) idk, macados, souvlakis (watched the 99 mnc game there) we were recently disappointed by bull and bones so they're temporarily off the list.

5.-8. Really don't have an answer since I've not been to Blacksburg in a few years, and I don't go to bars.

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

1. Chicken then beef then pork. I enjoy them all.
2. Tomato. I never really paid any attention to bbq sauce derivatives but tomato sauce and a bowl of spaghetti. I'm good.
3. Cookies. Followed by cake and I am gonna go out on a limb but I thoroughly enjoy a good cannoli or cheesecake every once and a while.
4. Bourbon to start. Beer to chase.
5. West End, that was my jam especially Junior and Senior year. Though I went back and saw the new Turner place. It's pretty sweet.
6. Non-Breakfast, I could eat a burger at a tailgate anytime of day
7. I gotta go with a tie between Bull and Bones and Sal's. Depends on the mood. Either one is a solid choice. Hokie House for dinner and Trivia was always a midweek highlight too.
8. Hokie House, ftw

1. Chicken (just covered in BBQ sauce)
2. Tomato sauce
3. Pie
4. Beer (I can do Bourbon but you gotta mix it in something)
5. West End (But D2 brunch is my favorite campus meal)
6. Non-Breakfast

1- all are acceptable, but my preference goes pork>beef>chicken
2- again, I appreciate the differences in all varieties so long as they are homemade, all of you throwing out brands should be ashamed, I always lean to the vinegar side though
3- at a tailgate, I don't know, I'm always blitzed by that point
4- in Blacksburg, beer at the tailgate and a few bourbons in the game, in Charlotte I could easily walk to the train from my old house making drunkenness a non-issue for the drive home, so ACCCG or Panthers games were insane amounts of whatever was in front of me
5- I didn't eat much in my school days, but I would go West End first
6- both, my tailgate for the UNC game had 20 bacon, egg & cheese biscuits, jalapeo & bacon pimento cheese pregame & pulled pork, ramburgers (lamb & beef, but you know, Ramses, see what I did there?), and Mac & cheese, every but of it homemade (and there were only 2 of us, our tailgating neighbors love us & the more food I send home to my buddy's wife gets me first choice of games to take his tickets)
7- see 5, really didn't eat out a lot
8- TOTS & Hokie House
