Just watch Dabo's weekly presser and the guy must have spoke for over an hr. I would also say Dabo is more hands on with his program so it's not that Frank has more important things to do.
But man o man it is just fun to listen to him talk so much about the program and everything going on. Its like you have to go to a Hokie Club dinner to get 1/4 of the info that Dabo gives out in his weekly presser.

I'd rather have Frank, love how old school he is. Dabo likes to hear himself talk to boost his ego
Dabo is a tool with a tenth of the class that Beamer has.
Missing what I am saying... I dont care for Dabo, I am saying it is enjoyable to hear him talk about everything that is going on with the program in such depth.
Not talking about how he's a humble man. lol
But it's still coach-speak. Don't believe that he's talking about everything going on in the program. He's talking because he likes the sound of his own voice.
C'mon man quit being a tool
Dabo is so annoying. He is lucky Boyd and Watson panned out or he would be an assistant somewhere right now.
Dabo is Dabo's #1 fan
What the hell kind of name is Dabo? He isn't even the highest paid person in HIS football program..of course he needs to talk more or everyone at Kilpson will know he is a moron. Yab-a-Dabo-do.
Had to Google it this past weekend for my wife and here's your answer. William Christopher Swinney was called Dabo because his younger brother tried to say "that boy" in reference to Swinney. At some point you would think he might grow up but nope.
You might want to double check; but I think Bud Foster's base salary is higher than CFB's. (Not counting incentives and perks)
Its not even close. Beamer's base is 4 or 5 times Bud's base.
Face it though. A million a year in Blacksburg is a king's ransom.
See what buys you in Los Angeles.
I just asked myself what I would do with a million dollars in Blacksburg, here is the list I came up with:
I know this is a technicality; but so is the salary comparison for Dabo vs Morris. Anyway, for what it is worth, base salary for Beamer is in the $200K range (don't ask me about that "retention" lol):

I think recruits coming up would prefer a more energetic, fiery coach. I would love to see someone acting like bud foster just on offense
Grimes? Moorehead? Shane? I'm pretty sure all those guys are pretty fiery. Even Loeffler can get heated.
I guess we don't see Loeffler's fiery nature much because he's in the booth.
But the times I did see him, he was definitely more involved than O'Cainspring the past few years.
We got plenty of coaches on our staff with fire. I personally like coaches with class and are humble in which Frank wrote the book. Other coaches in ACC I have respect for include both Jim Grobe and David Cutliffe as they are of the same mold. Dabo likes to hear himself talk and reminds me of that cheesy car salesman in the movie Fargo. Ohh Geez.
Or the guy that was just deposed at USCw
Dabo is like a used car salesman. He says a lot without saying anything. To continue the analogy, if Dabo's a used car salesman, then Beamer is the custom hot rod guy that you need an appointment to see. I'll take Beamer.
Is he a... Beamer salesman?

Well played. Turkey leg for reminding me of one of my favorite Orange Effect shirts.
if it ain't a benz...
Never say anything that could be perceived as pro-Clemson on this site. Ever.
Two Questions: Can Dabo dance? And, Does he dance in the locker room?
So much win in this video.
Edit: Meant to post in response to Hville.
Unfortunately, yes.
Speechless :-(
This reminds me of how Will Smith tells Kevin James not to dance in "Hitch."
I'm calling a dance off:
First up: Mr. Frank Beamer
Dabo should have been a politician - talks for an hour non-stop and says absolutely nothing of substance.
Dabo actually gave portion of his salary to Chad Morris because he knew he had a gold mine in Morris, that's part of the reason for his success as head coach, and next season with a new quarterback and slew of players, it'll be interesting to see if Morris don't pull a Gus Malzhan.
There's plenty of stories about Dabo that makes me appreciate him. For example, had his mother live with him while he was in college. I think she had some kind of health issue and he took care of her.
that won't stop Chad Morris for bolting to an HC gig after this season.
That's just Dabo being Dabo
Dabo Swinney gets out of the shower to pee.
Ha!
I poop in my tub.
Balls in your court, dabo.
Dabo Swinney lines the toilet seat with toilet paper at his own house!
Dabo pees sitting down
Dabo thoroughly washes his hands after sitting down to pee
with exfoliating scented hand soap from bed bath and beyond
My thoughts on Dabo -

I just want the Clemson Tigers humbled one way or another, before Tajh leaves.
Because there is nothing humble about Swag Kelly
dabo is a goofball, no way around that.
he cares, can recruit and is very positive, but we'll know how good a coach he is after morris leaves.
I agree with all the Dabo distaste. He is a tool.
But the point that lburghokie is about Dabo infusing a passion in how he speaks that even if coach speak makes it "exciting" to hear. I can appreciate what he is talking about.
However, I would say that you shouldn't think that Beamer is not like this. How he behaves to the media is very different with how he interacts with the team. Exhibit A:

Beamer always tries to keep thing professional when representing VT. This is why he also rarely ever makes disparaging comments at other coaches, universities or refs publicly.
Lane Kiffin (when he was at Tennessee) has been the only opposing coach I can remember CFB giving even a hint of dislike. Paul Johnson and Butch Davis come close to that.
He gave some lip to Paul Johnson after Chop Gate as well. But yeah, only those two as far as I know. Oh, and if you want to count his new book he basically calls LOLUVA and Crybaby London cheaters.
Can you tell a little more about that "cheaters" claim without spoiling the book?
Not sure how much you want to know, but he takes a shot at UVA's practice at using 3rd parties to influence kids in the 757.
Here's a snippet of Teal's article:

I would agree completely. Beamer is a life motivator. I would say the best examples are his sit downs in his office with players like Journel, after his arrest, and J.R. Collins. Tell me Collins isn't motivated. I believe the charactor of a VT player is as much, if not more importance to Beamer than a player's ability on the field (ex: Marcus Vick and Brandon Ore).
Moreover, I get the impression that a Frank Beamer staff feels they will only ever say what they need to say to the media. So using how our staff talks to the media to define them as motivators for the team doesn't really make any since.
I love Frank and I love the way Frank is. Wouldn't trade him for the world and especially wouldn't trade him for that tool down in "Tiger" town. Go Hokies!
I'm not sure how many of you on here are also members of beamerball.com but they post halftime and post game videos from the locker room after each game. Beams can still get pretty firey, telling dudes to "keep gettin after their asses" and "don't let up on them" when we have the lead on a team. Now, it's Beamer saying it so he doesn't sound like Leonidas or anything, but the players respond to him.
I didn't know much about Dabo's background, but they talked about it during Klempson's last game, and I did a bit of digging. It's described in this article:
http://clemson.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=882281
To summarize, he had an abusive, alcoholic father. The family business failed, they ended up homeless, his parents divorced, and he and his mom finished high school sleeping at a friends house. He managed to walk-on at 'Bama, earn a scholarship, and when he had his own place set up, he moved in his mom because she really didn't have any where else to go. He then earned a scholarship, and was on a team that won a MNC.
The article talks about cleaning gutters to make ends meet, and in general coming from rock bottom to build up a life. He might be irritating in press conferences, but you gotta admit the guy has overcome a lot of adversity, works he butt off, and certainly has achieved a lot. I certainly respect him.
Hear, hear. Dabo has my respect, if not my like.
I second that. In a world where people give up at the first sniff of adversity or constantly blame others and want handouts I can apperciate his work ethic. He deserves everything good that has came and may come his way.
I also wonder just how much of what he displays in public is showmanship vs. what he's like for real. Any HC at big school has to project a certain energy to keep donations flowing, fans excited and involved, recruits excited to come play for you, etc. Good showmanship has got to be an asset on some level.
He's been able to demonstrate being worth taking a chance on multiple times before without really having a background resume to show he's qualified for the job. That usually only happens when you've got a way of showing yourself to be competent in whatever you do.
He probably wasn't really ready to be a head coach when he got the Clemson job, but he's grown into a guy that can build their program up.
Listen, I'm sure he's a great person but as a coach, he's not for me. Its in my Hokie DNA, give me the old school guy that wants to run the ball down your throat and suffocate you with defense over the cheerleader jumping around and screaming for attention like a rap video hype man (no disrespect to Flava Flav).
Dabo does win the battle of cooler arch rival though. Head Ball Coach > Head Ball Cop. (Full disclosure, my wife is a Gamecock)
I live in Clemson country. I can tell you that Dabo is a down to earth, what you see is what you get guy. Sure he likes to talk. He is an emotional coach and his players appreciate it. He does know how to motivate. Is he my style? No. But he is getting the job done ... sadly better than VT in fact the last few years.
Dabo's approach is like a used car salesman. Sure it works on some. But his act will wear thin sooner than later.
Beamer speaks softly and carries a big stick, like a bawse should.
