I know a lot of people just don't care about uniforms at all, but saw this and, to be honest, found it to be too cool to not share. Colgate University is debuting 1932 throwback uniforms for their game against Lafayette this weekend, and the look is something else...

Each number on the back is printed onto that thatch looking fabric, and then stitched onto each uniform separately.

The helmets are where they really nailed it, in my opinion. They first hydrodipped each one to create a fake leather-like texture and then taped clear strips across to make them look like helmets of old.

Honestly, this is just a really, really cool look, and I would fully support Tech trying to go this route in a throwback game in the future, should we go down that path. Maybe throw it back to the 8-0-1 team from 1954 or the 7-0-0 team from 1918?

Who do I call to get one of those helmets?
"I hope this the puff daddy version of this song.....not that Sting piece of SHIIIIIITTTTTT.......FUCCCKKKKK"
This is just too cool. I love the jersey fronts, too!
Dig the numbers on the back...pressed burlap with hand painted numbers effect.
These are pretty damn awesome. The helmets in particular are on point.
I bet the Equipment guys are cussing having to put on those helmet stickers.
Buzz Williams would not be happy.
Other than those shoulder stripes *ducks*, they're really cool.
I would have aimed for the helmet to be a little more pearly white, especially up around the crest.
I'm glad. Just don't hate me or i'll accuse you of being too sensodyne
Well you are ultra-bright.
something something aquafresh
I really like these. However I do worry a little that you wont be able to see the details of the helmet in the stands or on tv
Yup. The cameras will add 10 pounds
I wonder if they have a Dental School...
If they do, I bet it's better than ECU's (this is from the groovyard of forgotten favorites, but your comment brought it to mind).

wouldn't the 1918 uniforms feature our old colors of black/gray? now that would be totally different!
EDIT: I looked it up, we've had the current colors since 1896 where we unveiled them against Roanoke College
Fun fact: Roanoke College would have been wearing Blue&Gold (academic colors) not maroon in 1896.
A Roanoke alum from the 50s (he's nearly 90) asked me what VPI's record is against Roanoke in football-would anyone happen to know a resource online where I could find it?
26-0-2

Just change the drop down to the opponent of your choice.
Roanoke College
26 wins, 2 ties, 0 losses (last played 1937, 27-7 win)
Roanoke YMCA
1 win, 0 losses, 0 ties (last played 1895 - 14-2 win)

Media guide.
Meetings: 28
First: 1894
Last: 1937
VT is 26-0-2 in the 28 meetings.
And it was against RC that we last scored 80-89 points; 86 in 1905. Although not the highest. That's 99 against Emory and Henry in 1919
Thanks all! Whole lotta drinking going on...you'd think I'd been drinking since I never bothered to check the hokiesports website *smacks head*
Dammit
As a Roanoke alum, I am proud of our two ties. Especially our 0-0 game /s
31 points scored in 28 games...wow..no wonder they disbanded their football program before WW2
Not as good as the TAMU ones a while back but pretty cool for a smaller school.
I'm not crazy about the burlap look on the back and the anOSU throwback front. I would have liked to have seen them go one direction or the other. This kinda looks like a hodgepodge of throwback stuff "thrown" together, excuse the pun.
They are throwbacks to the 1932 team, which went undefeated, untied, and unscored upon.

Bathtub gin tailgate, complete with zoot suits and annoying flapper people?
I'll bring the long-stemmed cigarette holders!
A 1932 tailgate would be hilarious. Nothing but homemade party liquor!
You misspelled shine
lots, and lots, and lots of shine
Moonshine is definitely homemade party liquor.
I almost forgot, everyone has to use 30s nobody uses anymore. Like rube!
A rube you say?
Oh we're going with 20s/30s slang now?
am i doing it right
Helmets = 10!
Jerseys = 3.5...
Dope
What if we replicated this kit from 1895? Colors were black and gray (according to photo's source, not my inference from the photo itself). "VAMC" stands for Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College.
Speaking of A&M throwbacks. Colorado State is wearing these bad boys this week. They are tight.
Wanted to post this yesterday and forgot! These are dope...and why some days I want under armor!
The dipped leather effect on the helmet is nice, the packaging tape faux leather seams is super lame.
