So even though I will not be attending the game in person, I made sure I woke up an hour and a half before my daughter wakes up to make my rib bbq sauce, and get some sides started for the game.
For those of you watching elsewhere, what are your plans for today. What food, beer, and bourbon are you rolling with today?
Let's Go!!!

God I wish I was in Blacksburg today. Everybody who's going to the game, please be loud, be respectful, be safe, and have a blast!
And wear the right damn color
Not too far off from the rules my dad gave me on my first day at Tech
1. Have fun
2. Be Safe
3. Don't get anyone pregnant
1. Have fun
2. Be Safe
3. Don't get anyone pregnant3. If you up 460 too far, shit gets fucking weird.
Tbh if you've never made the drive from Blacksburg to Pittsburgh, which has a long stretch on 460, it's the most beautiful drive I've ever done
My drive home to/from school involved 64 out of st louis, and I was on the ski team so I've driven up 460 about 8536995 times. It is a beautiful part of the world.
But I come from a long line of hokies and southwest virginians and I've been listening to woovoo and inbred hillbilly jokes since before I was born.
(98% of the people in the world would consider my family inbred hillbillys)
Picnic at the park with the kids for dinner then getting them to bed for game time! After staying up till midnight watching the Hokies, I'll be up at 5am to go run a half marathon tomorrow... then it's finally beer time at 9am.
Go Hokies!
It's 6:38. I am up and excited. Heading out in about an hour. Can't wait to be in Blacksburg and have fun, eat, drink, and watch some Hokie football!!! LET'S GO!!!
HOKIES!!!
HOKIES!!!
( I should have refreshed the page before posting. Guess I'll get my drinking started a little earlier than expected. ๐
My friend and I are on our way by 9am! Exit Light!!!!
It's gonna be a good day tater.
Watching game day via satellite and tv in the trailer, tents set up, smoker started, first beer down, ribs going on in 5, and looking at Lane...waiting. Oh yeah.
My son was born last Friday so my evening will consist of his mother and I in our hokie gear and he in his VT onsie watching on TV. Hopefully that becomes his lucky onsie after we upset the Irish.
VT has won every game since you've had him. It's science.
Hardest decision in our household will be to chose which of the VT onesies to put our 5 day old in. Thank god these things are night owls so my wife doesn't yell at me for waking her up during the game!
Last week I was taking a Lime Scooter home from dinner to watch the Duke game. A car pulled out of a parking spot, I swerved to miss it, but locked up the front wheel, sending me over the handlebars. I spent two days in the ICU recovering from a concussion, bleeding on my brain, and multiple facial fractures.
I'm still tired and foggy from the concussion, but am otherwise healing up. I'm thankful to be at home today watching the Hokies. I'm thankful my cognition is intact. I'm thankful for the genuine prayers of those around me.
So on this game day, take some time to appreciate the pageantry and community surrounding this sport we love. Those are the memories and feelings that endure.
Happy game day, Hokies.
LETS GO.
Glad youre out of the hospital and on the mend. Hope a hokie win speeds your recovery!
Damn dude. Were you wearing a helmet?
HOKIES!!!!
Nobody wears a helmet with the rentals here in dallas. We had a guy here get in an accident but didn't even make it to the hospital. I'm not a fan of these scooters. To easy to
operateaccess while intoxicated and too easy to have cars not see you while riding. I've done plenty of stupid stuff in my life and am glad these weren't an option of transportation a few years ago.Goddamn, hope the recover goes well man. What type of intracranial hemorrhage did you have? Subdural? Epidural?
Epidural. It was relatively small and receded a promising amount during my stay in the hospital.
And I am one of the fools who wasn't wearing a helmet. My buddy and I went through all the usual excuses. Close to home, not drunk, we've ridden them 100 times, etc., etc. Don't be like me, everyone.
Did the strutting turkey fart ๐ฅ or
Did the flying turkey drop a๐ฃ?
Why not both?
*Chump
Where'd this 40% chance of thunderstorms come from?! Paging eshiben!
18% chance of precipitation between 7p.m. and 11p.m. Winds 3 mph. Temp dropping from 72 degrees to 69 degrees during the game.

Not buying it, I'm pretty pissed though. The site where I ran the euro (which I paid a fucking subscription for) pulled it and moved to another site where they charge even more now.
Sprinkling in C'ville on the way through...
Keeping it simple. Watching the game at home with the fam.
Smoked ribs ....homemade dry rub, hickory, and a little sauce at the end
Four Roses small batch
Cigar for dessert.
My goal is to have the one year old in bed by 7:30 and the 4 year old in bed by 8:30
The guy whistling is the band and the turkeys gobbling are the fans responding. This is beautiful.
At first, I thought that someone had edited the audio and put the "Let's go.....HOKIES" cheer, then I realized that the turkeys were actually responding.
Fam, I left Arlington at 3 am after my buddy finished his shift. Got into Blacksburg at 7 and I'm too wired on adrenaline, excitement, and coffee to sleep! Tried to lay down and could only manage 40 min. LET'S GO!!
HOKIES!!
On Southgate.
Part of my crew is already setup in lot 18. First arrivals were 8:15 to start breakfast.
Irish coffee has a special significance today.
BLTs, pork bbq for lunch.
Smoked home made sausages for dinner.
Doing Hokie things in south Florida. Got meat in the smoker already, headed out for bourbon run after hearing up, Gameday on TV and Marching Virginians loaded in the stereo.
Extremely jealous of those back Home today. Especially since I had to turn down a free ticket to this game.... Scream extra loud for me
I'll be having either chicken or beef, or whatever they're going to serve at this wedding at 5:00...
My wife is in a wedding at 5... in Radford. Like seriously wtf are people thinking. She is going alone and I am watching at home. She said she knew I would be going crazy if we didn't leave in time so she told me to stay home.
Best wife ever
Haha that's awesome. Your wife gets a gold star.
Beer for breakfast, wings for lunch, Tempura cobia, asparagus and zucchini for supper, the Irish for dessert. And beer, beer beer all day long.
Damn, that sounds awesome
And damn if it wasn't. We don't deep fry at home but a time or two a year, but even Mrs. Fish got excited about it last night. I have a few cobia meals left, and I don't see any other way I'll be cooking it. Too bad the dessert got spoiled!
Working until 3ish then trying to figure where to watch and who to watch with in NOVA
Anyone watch the segment on gameday with beamer/fu's relationship?
Yup
Yeah. It was really well done I thought.
Got a pork shoulder in the smoker trying mesquite chunks for the first time, chicken drumsticks with cherry and apple wood to follow. Headed over to a buddy's to watch, followed by the McGregor/Khabib PPV
Wanted to comment on a tidbit from GameDay. Ryan Willis' dad (KSU kicker) scored the first ever points on an ESPN college football broadcast in 1982.
Don't know about omens, but...
Making some crispy grilled old bay wings, and shrimp stuffed jalapeรฑo poppers.
I've got a neighbor here in Scottsdale that graduated Tech same year, we never met until we became neighbors. He has an 85" TV and loves whisky as much as he loves the Hokies.
I'm glad I met him.
Love thy neighbor!
Sucks, drew the nightshift but I have a 70" tv in the control room that will have the game on.
