According to Jon Rothstein on Twitter : "Sources: Several ACC programs have been informed by the conference not to schedule games on the first two days (11/5/19 and 11/6/19) of the 19-20 season because league is planning conference games to open the year."
Not sure I like this idea as many teams are testing out what they have in their stables and finding their line ups the first few games of the year. Taking a conference loss so early has got to be a frustrating loss for any team. What are everyone else's thoughts here?

For those coming from tracker... this is for basketball.
Thank you. I was so confused. First two days of the season.....In November?
Thanks for that I corrected it! Didn't realize at first lol
Wait. We actually have separate forums? Weird.

Great idea! Lets fight with college football for interest and tv viewers. That's a sure fire winner! /s
Within a week of Halloween? Sheesh. I remember when the night before Thanksgiving was the NIT Tip-off game.
As for opening with conference games...meh. Doesn't affect much down the road. All ACC teams make the conference tournament, and the cream usually rises to the top by March. Just seems extremely early on since I assume there is $$$ behind this idea in the form of TV or something. I'm not in Basketball mode in November.
I usually miss the start of basketball season...sounds like a bad call. So many fans aren't watching games until later in December.
After some thought, guess, since it's the ACC, this is for UNC and loluva...since their football seasons are done by early November anyway.
This just won the internet for me today.
On the other hand, I'm more willing to watch if there are conference games on. Not Duke playing at home 10 times in a row against the Durham School for the Deaf and Blind.
ACC Network launches in August 2019 - Must need content
Wouldn't this give them less content (or at very least the same)?? If two acc teams play each other that's only one game to cover. Whereas each ACC school playing a cupcake is its own game to air, cover, and show highlights from.
What he should have said is, the ACC Network must need content that would attract enough attention to convince people they need their TV provider to add the channel to their package. It's the same strategy that ESPN used when launching the SEC Network.
I'm fine with it in basketball. I like nonconference games later in the year because you can actually see how good each team is in their own conference and get a better comparison
I'm fine with it in either sport. Early season games are usually the out of conference games, sometimes gimmies after preseason tournaments.
In both football and basketball, most major conference schedule their big games later in the season. There is a LOT of competition for air time and Gameday later in the season. By putting important in-conference games early in the year, it's an easier decision for ESPN to give us exposure, where later in the season who knows which games might be important, maybe not ours.
Naturally, big ACC games in basketball will usually draw the marquee, so I find this less interesting in basketball and think that it could have a larger impact in football.
