Virginia Tech added a commitment from Atlanta senior Tahj Gary. The 5-9, 212 pound running back picked the Hokies over fellow finalists Purdue, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Boston College, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The 247Sports Composite rates the Woodward Academy product as a 3-star (0.8709) running back. Gary joins Keshawn King as backfield verbals in Virginia Tech's 2019 recruiting class.

How is this gif not used everytime we score?!?!
Just need someone with the skills to edit the team and score as the games go by
I wonder how much shit this guy must have gotten from his commanding officers.
The next game he was a robot. So a lot.
It was worth it.
Wow this is another level amazing gif. Guaranteed he got his shit rekt for that, he's a true hero.
When he turns 21, I'll buy him the drink of his choice downtown.
Wait are you him?
If you aren't then we need to find that guy and reserve for him the TKP handle 'DancingCadet'
Haha no. But him getting chewed out by his superiors for my, and everyone else's, chuckle was completely worth it.
Reminds me of the time we "acquired" UCF's flag.
that's one of those things where they have to act mad but i'm sure deep down actually thought it was hilarious. almost like when you talk to your parents about all the shit you got in trouble for as a kid/ confess things you got away with. they have to act mad but everyone knows it's incredible
Like when our rats painted a sophomore blue. Most of us thought it was really funny, the guy was a jerk all 'round, and secretly applauded. If they just hadn't used lead based paint...
He graduated in 1975. Lead paint was still a thing.
Ah, gotcha. That's still pretty fucked up tho'
It was '69 and while it was a stupid move, fucked up for sure, they didn't know what they'd done, and wouldn't have done it had they known the consequences for the fellow. Still and all, you did have to be a little careful how you treated your rats back then. Pullin' shit was a time honored and largely tolerated tradition in those days.
Which unit? (I was In O Squadron in 1969, but don't remember hearing about this.)
HTs. Not surprised you didn't hear about it. Nobody was proud of the incident. I flunked out after the fall semester and it happened not long before that, so I don't know what the fall out was. I was too busy trying to figure out how not to end up in Vietnam after losing my deferment. I wasn't the brightest star in the firmament, for sure.
Off film alone this is the guy I wanted most at RB after we got big timed.
King's film is great and Jamious Griffin just broke Hershel Walkers record in Georgia
Yea I'm excited about King too but like Gary a little more based on film. Griffin I'm not as high on, I know he puts up huge numbers but there is something about watching Gary run that I like more. I'm not an expert at this but he seems to have elite vision/awareness and I love an RB that always falls forward.
I can't figure out why he's not rated higher than three stars. It must be something superficial like his height. This kid runs around people, over people, through people and can catch. He has to be one of the most underrated recruits at RB in a LONG time. VT made a name by finding guys like this and recently that's been really hard to do.
Honestly I never know what I'm looking at watching film. Even 3* running backs seem to regularly look superhuman going up against normal high school players.
For me, OL is the only harder position than RB to evaluate. I don't quite know what Fuente wants in an RB, besides no fumbles and blocking for QB (which you won't find in high school). Finding fast guys that can make a high light feel cut against some 15 year old isnt hard to find either.
All of the recruits. All of the sports.
I think he and King will be a solid duo in the backfield. I'm excited to see what they bring to the table.
WE GOT HIM FAM!!!
She's so hot.
Well the show is called.... Hot Ones!
I'll see myself out
Agreed, can't believe she's pushing 50
She's qualified. TKP harder.
Nice to see a female gif at TKP that I don't feel like a dirty old man for viewing.
Solid
I like her. I'll keep her.
This is how you go 1-0 in a bye week.
I like his vision. Seems to let blocks develop instead of trying to outrun defenders (which he can do in the open field - but he won't be running any jet sweeps for us).
Runs downhill and falls forward. Catches the ball really well. And plays hard. Doesn't quit on routes, comes back to the ball on scrambles, and the blocks he makes @3:50ish on his tape 👀
I have serious questions about the competition he's facing, but you can't argue with his field vision, willingness to use his blockers and hard running.
There were a few times I wondered how he even stayed in bounds or on his feet to keep running. A couple things he will NOT be able to do in college or NFL (the kick/punt returns). I like the rest of it, though.
It's georgia. Add a star.
Right!
Same school as Elijah Holyfield and same level as Trevor Lawrence, per Andy Bitter. Seems like the level of competition is probably fine.
I like the team we are building, putting playmakers all over the offense!
Just keep bringing on the RBs. Eventually one will stick and be a big time player. All it takes is one.
What's that? Another 'croot?
Very Darren Evans-esque
Right? Definitely a first guy in, last guy out player. Very cerebral. More athletic than you think...wait, am I doing this right?
I think it only works if he's white
Racist.
I don't understand what's going on with respect to my comment.
Like it's getting down voted? If so, that is kind of weird.
No I meant this entire response thread to it!
Watch from 3:23 in to get the reference:

He and King seem about on par with Juice and Shai. If they can just stay healthy...
Knee braces included in the welcome packet at orientation.
Hoverboards strictly banned. (are they even still a thing?)
I LOVE watching this kid run. I think he's every bit as good if not better than Deyvn Ford. Running all over Nova players is WAY different than running all over Georgia players. He's got good vision, he's a strong runner and he's pretty damn fast!
I'm happy to see how quickly all of us are progressing through the stages of grief. What step is rationalizing again?
In all seriousness, the kid looks like a stud from SEC territory.
I would disagree. This kid is not Ford level. I do think King is though
completely different types of runners.
Exactly.
Hmm I don't know. Ford tested at 4.67 or something this summer, runs too upright, and film wise just looks a bit overrated to me. But i'm no expert- just watching film back to back
No worries. I can appreciate a disagreeing thought. +1
He's a tank, with jump cuts and speed. He appears to have good vision to see holes and break to them. It will be a superb addition to the offense. Welcome to Hokie Nation!
Is he a 1 yard gain per carry type back or could he be a serious threat? We have a horrible curse with RB's and it could be nice to get a big time game changer there. I think KING is a big time RB, these two could make a nice duo.
So, looking at our RBs for next season, we prospectively have...
Coleman Fox (r-Sr)
DeShawn McClease (r-Jr)
Jalen Holston (Jr)
Terius Wheatley (r-So)
Caleb Steward (r-Fr or So)
Cole Beck (r-Fr or So)
Keshawn King (Fr)
Tahj Gary (Fr)
Am I missing anyone?
I'm going to predict one of them won't be on roster when season starts.
I'll take the over
my guess as well
You're probably right.
I feel like we haven't seen much of Holston this season. Is he redshirting (don't know how many games he's played in offhand) or are the coaches a bit down on him this year?
Played 5 games, so not eligible for a shirt.
Beyond that, we've been carried by Peoples all season. Kinda hard to get touches if you're the 3rd guy in line when the 1st guy is playing as well as he is.
That's fair, but I feel like Holston was getting a solid look last year. I know Peoples has evolved into a lot more than I thought he would be from a few years ago, but Holston just seems to have almost disappeared in the last couple of games.
Wasn't Fox working as a slot receiver in camp? Basically I don't know if he counts as a RB at this point (and feel like it's pretty likely he'll be moving to a new opportunity after this season).
That's Impact Player Coleman Fox to you, buddy
