Could be some Buzz in College Station next year .. https://t.co/dhDAQGO83Xβ Andrew Slater (@Andrew__Slater) October 23, 2018
Almost as though someone was laying the groundwork for a smooth transition.. https://t.co/x3AuW0Nipjβ Andrew Slater (@Andrew__Slater) October 23, 2018
Yes, Buzz planted two of his former assistants to the lay the groundwork for his impending arrival at Texas A&M. Actually, that's a next-level Buzz move. π€

The one thing that worries me is losing Hill, Clarke, and Robinson all at the same time after this season. Potentially NAW as well if he hits that NBA ceiling some thought he might last year. A roster shake-up that large seems like as good an opportunity as any to take off for somewhere else for a coach that will always be linked to bigger jobs.
Buzz is playing chess while everyone else is playing tic tac toe.
More like 4D Backgammon
But you have to play the same game to win.
Because its that time of year

Don't put anything past Texas A&M, you know they were talking to Jimbo Fisher during the season during back channels to gauge interest and hint at how much he'd be offered. Paired with Jimbo's last season at FSU not going well with his apparent evaluation of the talent they had on the roster, he took it and bolted for the big pay day. If you have to go through a rebuild/reload you might as well get paid.
Coach Reynolds was one of his least favorite assistants of all time?
1) He's one of the nicest guys I've ever been around
2) He had a huge role in the upswing of our program, I've been told this by many many people inside the program.
He's catching shit in the replies to that tweet too.
-That guy, probably
Gotta love sports-opinion-havers.
Yeah, of all the assistant coaches that have come to Tech (albeit Reynolds technically wasn't an assistant here) his attitude, actions and resume have him at or near the top for me in terms of impact to our program and many other programs before ours. Pretty shocked by that, especially from Jeff Goodman, who usually I agree with much of what he puts out there. Must have been one really bad interaction or Goodman was really bought in to a team that Reynolds was associated with that fell flat.
I call bunk, if Buzz were really working the long game, Paint Touches would be recorded on that stat sheet.
And bad, good, great, and perfect shots
Looks like someone's a little desperate for page clicks and twitter mentions
This isn't the same guy that tweeted last September about Jimbo going to A&M being likely, is it? That would concern me.
Why would Buzz be putting together what is arguably the highest rated class in Tech History with his guys just to leave it?
We are talking about a potential 7 player class for next year. Putting in the effort needed to recruit and gain the commits of 7 players his particular style of play does not seem like the kind of effort somebody would put in on their way out the door.
While I like what you're saying, I can't logically get my head around someone like Buzz (or really just about anybody in any high visibility profession) dialing it in because they're all but guaranteed to be moving on to a new, higher paying gig.
Also Jimbo Fisher brought in the #6 class in 2017 and #11 class in 2018 which Tagert was basically gifted considering how late he got the job. Texas A&M can dump any size money truck on him and I think it's hard for anyone to turn that down. I think buzz is one of those dudes that'll bust his ass for the program til the day the day he leaves. Doesn't mean that if he does think he'll leave one day, that he won't be putting out feelers or trying to get a sense of a good place and situation that he would enjoy. If anything I think he'd want to leave the program in a good state when he leaves. I mean Marquette was doing fine (and similarly Marquette to Tech compared to Tech to A&M don't really seem like upward moves, he did the former) and basically left out of left field, so assuming he'll only leave when the sky is falling is probably a mistake partially because it's reduce his value for someone else looking to hire him.
Marquette may have been winning on the court but everything behind the scenes at Marquette was not doing fine. They had gone from a President and Athletic Director that hired and fully supported Buzz as the highest paid employee of the program to several different Athletic Directors and a new President as well. Buzz had also been forced to fire his best friend for a recruiting offense that normally would have been a suspension in the past. There were a multitude of other things going on at Marquette as well behind the scenes so Buzz had a motivation to leave there.
Why is he "guaranteed" to be moving on????
He's the #19 highest paid NCAA basketball coach in the country.
And Tech's buyout of his contract right now would be $15million.
He's signed thru 22-23. Everyone just calm down and enjoy Buzzketball for the next several seasons. Sheesh.

Add in schools who don't report or don't report full salary he is probably closer to 25th. Still good.
Just to clarify, my point was purely hypothetical. Even if his intent was to leave, individuals with high levels of integrity and/or visibility aren't doing themselves any favors by doing a poor job leading up to their departure.
My only retort to this is that the aptly named aTm has a bottomless wallet. If they find someone they want they can make a ludicrous offer which far exceeds market value. That may be hard to pass up and that's what is scary.
Lets be honest. If Buzz left, most of these recruits would leave with him. The same thing happened when he came here. Both Med and Satchel Pierce were committed to Marquette and came to VT with Buzz.
I'm aware of that, but I also think there is a big difference between 1 or 2 players and half a roster. Keep in mind wherever he would be looking would have to have the spots for them too.
If Buzz were to leave, I want to believe he would give Whit enough heads up to find an adequate replacement.
I, however, don't see him leaving after this season.
Seriously, why would he leave after winning the first national championship in VT basketball history?
I think that is unlikely. That said, every athletic director should have a list of coaches to call up should their current guy leave.
Hokie Media day starts at 1:15 if anyone wants to watch it. Ty Outlaw and Ahmed Hill are the players alongside Buzz.
