It's more complicated than that. They scored, we give the ball back with 5 minutes, they can use all of that to take a 28-21 lead, then they get the ball at half. IF they score TD's on both drives for a 14 point lead that will be tough to overcome.

Honestly this really isn't Bud's fault. The DL is getting blown off the LOS every play. There's a point where no amount of scheme can keep you from getting blown off the man to man.
Bud isn't doing anything wrong tonight, but it is 100% the coach's responsibility to teach fundamentals and train and condition and prepare the players. The poor performance is at some level is on Bud.
Our scheme has 3 or 4 guys on the LOS and everyone else back 5+ yards and no adjustment at half. Maybe this is the best we can do but it looks odd for sure. Also no spy on 3rd and 14, unless I missed it

Add back Sette, Maine and Hill. Plus AA, Rel and Mook in the backend and this D looks much different (not saying we should add them back, just that's a lot of quality with eligibility left). Those guys you mention above would be backups.
You don't just 'add back' all your best players, and it doesn't matter if the above guys were backups this year. They're still not very talented. Good players leave, sometimes stuff happens with academics. It happens to all programs and is on the coaches to manage the roster. We shouldn't lose some guys and then only have the option to plug them with G5 talent guys.
Of course you don't add them back. That wasn't my point. The point was we lost a TON of top quality starting experience and had to force backups in those positions into starring roles. Attrition happens to every team, every year. Just seems like we had way more than our share this off-season.
And let's.m not kid ourselves, we're not Bama. We don't have top-tier talent waiting to step in.

Looks like they are just tossing around our D-lineman...outside Walker, the rest of our D-Line is just too small. I thought we would be down 14-0 early, so I was happy with our offense. I chalk this up as a loss every year though, so I am not too disappointed right now...of course I would prefer to see our defense stop them a few times in the second half, but I would be surprised if we were able to do that.

This is hard to watch. No pressure up front on the defensive line. This isn't about youth it's about talent which we just don't have. There are plenty of defenses that have youth and they have been able to make plays against this team.

I don't really know how to explain it but Lane Stadium isn't the once feared home field advantage. I didn't realize how bad it had gotten until my first game this season last night. It honestly felt and looked like an OOC noon game. The actual "Key Play" was dull. People in the stands just sitting while we're on defense. Corners empty. Top of SEZ empty. Lame piped in music. Lame "in game entertainment", I guess that's what you call it. I thought the game was the reason for going? Paper airplanes being the more cheered activity in the stadium.
