Clemson Pulls The "Mother of All Clemsons"

This is a pretty entertaining read. Here's an excerpt: "Dont be fooled by people telling you Clemson didnt pull a Clemson against Florida State on Saturday night because the Tigers werent favored: This was The Mother of all Clemsons. The Clemson to end all Clemsons. Clemsongeddon, if you will."

I'd call the Orange Bowl implosion against WVU worse.

Agreed; FSU has a good balance and is full of talent in all positions. The 'neers were all offense. Plus, they were fricken ACC Champs in an FBS Bowl!

Agreed, this isn't Clemsoning. Clemsoning is falling apart from the inside and getting beat by inferior competition. Or getting absolutely pummeled by equals. FSU is head and shoulders above Clemson.

They did turn the ball over enough to call it imploding lol

Clemson was done by Q2.

Clemson Clemsoned. It's just that it was to FSU.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I agree. The way Clemson finished that season, topped off by getting annihilated by the cousins, is the absolute definition of Clemsoning, and it looked way worse for the conference because of when and how it happened.

Still fun to watch, but also a bummer we likely won't have a shot at them

I'm glad we don't have to play them. FSU is obviously the better team, but at the same time I think we match up better against them.

It's an entertaining read, but I'll disagree with the author. The Urban Dictionary definition of Clemsoning/Pulling a Clemson is the way I learned it, so this one game doesn't qualify. They may have dropped a steaming pile of Hoo on the field last night, but the only way it's Clemsoning is if they lose to Maryland in a hangover game, or somehow drop any other ACC game (or, well, The Citadel).

"Exit light..."

Yes, Clemsoning doesn't happen in one week in my book. There needs to be a downward spiral, not just 1 loss to a top 2 opponent. This could have been the start of a Clemsoning, but we'll need a few weeks to see for sure.

...dropped a steaming pile of Hoo ...

I laughed! A turkey leg for you!

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

Clemson has done quite well the last few years -- better than VT in many regards. However it is amazing how they manage to get humiliated in key games. The VT Orange Bowl game against Stanford was almost as bad (40-12 Stanford). But fortunately for VT, that happens rarely. Clemson seems to make it a habit.

The writers are just idiots; could you be more negative? This type of media crap is part of what is wrong with football."

It's clear to me that however one wants to describe that game, it was a beat-down of epic proportions on national television, puncturing the vastly over-filled balloon of Clemson hopes this year. I was personally quite pleased with the results, regardless of whether or not it can be described as "Clemsoning".

i just cant help but see parallels to "clemsoning" and us being "chokies." people build a program up and any loss for any reason at any time becomes clemsoning for them and us being chokies before last year. dont get me wrong i feel no sympathy for clemson, i just see those similarities in program perception.

The author of the article is incorrect. An essential element of the Full Clemson is losing to a woefully overmatched team. Like NC State or Maryland. There needs to be real shame in who you lost to for it to be a Clemson. There's not much shame in getting waxed by FSU, because they're steamrolling everyone so far. But if a reeling BC had pulled off the upset a few weeks ago, that would have been a Clemson.

I don't consider this to be a case of Clemsoning, I didn't have them winning. They have to be a favorite and lose to a big underdog for Clemsoning. FSU was the better team going in and showed it.

clemsoning will occur next weekend when they lose to maryland

This. Clemsoning requires a downward spiral, a once-considered conference championship contender to a falling out of the national conversation.
