That's what espn is saying. Pollack is giving us some love, but they are all saying that if FSU plays the rest of their games like this, they are too good. They think only their egos and minds could get to them.
FSU did look nasty. I'm hoping they don't screw it up along the way to the acccg.

I have a friend here at
BC (no, not that BC, the other one. No, not that one. Jesus, not that one. Look, we're a small college here in eastern Ky. What? No. No. No. That's EKU. Okay, look fuck it.)school who is a huge FSU fan. I anticipate chances at this game like no other because she is always wearing her FSU sweatshirt and I'm always wearing something maroon and orange. If FSU beat Bama in the NCG, I wouldn't be mad.
I think Bama is playing better now. I agree that if FSU beat em I wouldn't be mad, give the ACC some love. Though would mean we lost the acccg...
The one chink in Bama's armor has been mobile quarterbacks and spread teams. I think FSU actually matches up nicely against Bama. Would be a helluva game. Wonder if Fisher can get his boys as prepared as Saban will.
So true. As much I want to see the ACC succeed, I want to ensure a Alabama/SEC defeat. If Alabama is in the title game, I definitely want to see Oregon against Alabama. I think they could pull it off this time around.
The FSU I saw yesterday might give Alabama a run for their money. I'd rather see FSU play it close or beat Saban Co. Than see Oregon wipe the carpet with them.
We just saw the best that FSU has to offer. Pretty impressive.
But we haven't seen the best game out of our Hokies yet. This defense can make great offenses look pedestrian and I actually like how we match up against FSU's offense. The offense HAS to find a way to get a consistent ground game going, but if it does I could definitely see the Hokies winning that game.
It'll come down to two things, turnovers and red zone touchdowns. Win those two and you'll win just about every game.
I'm worried because I don't think we match up well against FSU's offense. We typically do better against non-mobile quarterbacks and against not very tall or physical receivers. FSU has both of those things. We'll still do a better job of limiting their offense that other teams, but we've got to get our offense and the run game going to have a chance.
I think every defense does better against a non-mobile qb and shorter receivers
As goes Winston goes, so goes FSU. Contain him and cause him to make mistakes. In Bud I trust.
I don't think we have a defensive player fast enough for Greene and I don't think we have a defensive back big enough for Kelvin Benjamin. Even Winston's mistakes can turn into big plays a la Manziel getting bailed out by Mike Evans ALL THE DAMN TIME
Yes FSU has lots of physical mismatches, but tactically they are more pro-style then Clemson is and Bud's defense has crushed pro-style teams this year.
We won't "Pitt" FSU, but the defense can keep it close if it plays up to it's potential. Will need lots of help from the offense though to at least switch field position when needed.
Yep. I think this defense is good enough to keep FSU under 28 points if they play great. The question will be, and will remain to be the entire season--can the offense put up the points needed to win?
And pussy touchdowns. We must deny them their pussy touchdowns.
I just can't help but remember what Saban has done in big games, when given a month to prepare. The Sugar Bowl loss to Utah, notwithstanding...
FSU played better than 'Bama did against us.
That was a very good team all around that beat Clemson.
You gotta understand that Winston had a clean pocket to throw in last night. He wouldn't have that at all with us and everyone here knows that. Our Dline would give fsu all kinds of problems. But I do see Winston making plays on the run, so the Cb's will have to cover longer then they should at times. I think they would try to exploit Bonner tho with their TE whos a beast. And another thing guys is if we play them it will be in the ACC title game if we make it there. It will be in charlotte and great chance it will be cold lol That is a huge advantage for us
I can't help but feel like last night was bad for the ACC. If it was a close, well-played game by both teams that kept people watching we'd be much better off. FSU has obviously cemented themselves as being in the same tier as 'Bama/Oregon, and maybe putting up such a dominant performance could be the difference between #2 and a shot at the national championship versus #3 and a BCS bowl. But if Clemson would have played well, I'm pretty sure the analysts would be talking about the depth of the ACC and we'd still have 3 teams in the top 10. Most casual fans will view this as a one team conference now.
Casual fans opinions' aren't worth a damn. Even a quick look into the conference will show that we're pretty decent up top. Clemson is still a good team that simply hit a buzz saw, and got manhandled by FSU's defense. I think it speaks more about FSU than about Clemson. Clemson will probably be around 12, and back in the Top 10 in a few weeks.
I disagree, before the FSU defense manhandled the dispirited Clemson offense, Clemson handed them the first quarter.
FSU could have handed the game over to UMD to finish for them about midway through Q2.
Which is why we need to win out. Dammit, if we (presumably) won't play Clemson this year, we need to set our sights on playing and defeating the team that stomped them!
Just remember the transitive property. If team A beats team B, and team C then beats team A, clearly team C is better than team B!
Anything goes in sports!
Surely this could be a clock of some sort that you could refer to. Like "Well, looks here like it's tuesday, therefor, we suck. Thankfully, we don't play on tuesday, and are on track to be awesome for the night game in Lane this Thursday."
"We don't play in Lane Thursday night anymore"
"Well then we are on track to be awesome on defense, but fair to middling on offense all of Saturday."
Sorry, but I've got to say this: That was a really terrible way to write out the transitive property. Better option would be "If A beats B and B beats C, then A is better than C"
Or maybe like this: "If Florida State beats Clemson, and Clemson beat Georgia, the SEC is the best conference in the country" ~ ESPN
I know it's not mathematically rigorous (sue me, I haven't taken a math class in over 10 years), just going off of the original question - would VT be considered better than Clemson if VT beats FSU? I laid it out chronologically rather than in the most compact math form. I'll try to step up my game.
Lets beat Duke first! They put some points up on a decent LOLUVA defense and after last year they have my full attention!
They also managed 55 points on Pitt's defense.
One week at a time boys and girls, one week at a time. Our next 3 games have me worried more than any this season so far.
i feel like we'll handle duke. bc on the other hand, all i know is that bad things happen to both the football and basketball teams when they jet up to chestnut hill. it's like a vortex of pro-sports town meh and the hokies are consumed by it.
To show the kind of impact our defense can have on an offense, during the Alabama game, right before their tailback went around the end and off for 80 yards and a score to make it 52-0, they showed a stat that said that in Alabama's first three games they had a yards differential of -7 yards, and in their last four games were a +1221 yards, so with the run they were sitting at +1301 yards in those games. Makes a major difference.
Since we're doing math on this forum, I've got a formula for highly touted freshmen quarterbacks...
Bud Foster = Nightmare.
There is a lot of talk on this post about how good FSU is and how tough they would be to beat in the ACCCG. I'm just going to leave this like here:
It was never about beating Alabama
