I hate linking to the mother ship, but here is the article we all knew was coming about the "amazing depth" of the SEC:

Like, gag me with a top ten loss or somethin'. Like grodie.
I hate espn so much.
Haha, I actually started the Subject line of the post with "Gag me" but took it out. Great minds think alike I suppose, that was my reaction to this piece.
I've always found Sclabach to be a hack, but I can just picture an editor/producer with a gun to his head as he types out this piece saying "Spin It!!! Spin ITTTT!"
Haven't read article, i live in $EC country, so I can guess what it says. "SEC teams beating themselves, they must all be good. Best conference ever." Stupid, If any $EC schools get knocked off, the BCS must rotate a few more in. Must be built into the code or something. Alabama is light years better than the SEC average and it shows, but since there needs to be at least 5 SEC school in the top 15, ESPN will start saying Bama could compete against the Super Bowl Champs. And knowing BAMA fans, they will believe it. Where does that leave me. In waders to the arm pits, so that junk doesn't mess up my clothes. Aggravating
Edit: Read Article...Didn't say anything like what I said above...Was pretty down to earth...Guess I'll shut up now
If we didn't have those stupid preseason polls the SEC might have only 4 teams ranked instead of this absurd 7.
And VT wouldn't be parked behind one with 2 losses, and just in front of another.
It's Mark Schlaybawwl... obscenely gratuitous and slurpy SEC fellating is to be expected. That's what he is paid to do.
That said, I felt like this "article" was tamer than what I expected.
You've definitely got me beat in the metaphor category. I can't go anywhere near that one.
This shouldn't come as a shock. They trot PAWWWWL out during college gameday now as a regular to talk about the SEC. They don't do that for any other conference. It's rather ridiculous that they have a such a strong bias, but then again all media has a bias so I guess it's to be expected.
Schlabach is a tool. I'd like to buy him for what he's worth and sell him for what he thought he was worth.
Nicely put. Can I use that one in the future?
Knowledge:
When SEC teams lose to other SEC teams, it's because the SEC depth is so good.
When SEC teams lose to non-SEC teams, the SEC team obviously had a let-down game. Prepare yourself for bowl season guys, because there will be a lot SEC team let-downs.
Yea but then they will say that those random bowls don't really count because they were more of a vacation for the team/they didn't focus on it/it was a long break between games, or some other excuse to make the SEC feel better
If the SEC cannibalizes its own the ACC chews up Monopoly and shits out Connect Four. Beat that SEC!
I think this sums it up rather nicely...it feels so good when you joke around:
That ole miss, Vandy, and tenn crowd will get after ya..they have been dominating here recently with big wins and great seasons. Lol all of them are just a few plays away from over taking bama. Ha..secespn is very predictable.
I can already see the balance of power shifting in the conferences like it did a decade ago. Remember when Florida beat FSU back in 03 and it was considered an upset. We may be heading back to that.
I swear I get sooo tired of hearing about the SEC being loaded since they "beat each other up" on a weekly basis. The ACC has been competitive, and doing the same thing, for years. All you hear is that in the ACC there's a bunch of mediocre, 2nd tier teams that cannot seperate from one another and have a truly dominant team. Ahhh the hypocrisy of ESPN.
I will say though that I love watching the SEC teams slide down in the polls!!!!! GO HOKIES
acc does it better than the sec at beating ourselves up!
The best of it is I feel like this could be the year to really start deflating that SEC balloon. The SEC East is for all intents becoming a bit of a dumpster fire. You could conceivably have USCe, UGA, and the Gators all with 4 losses. If USC loses to Mizzou, then either they or FL will definitely have at least 4, and there is no way I see the Gators beating FSU right now. And even with last Saturday night, I think Clemson is better than the Gamecocks
Looking at the West, Bama/LSU, Bama/Auburn, LSU/aTm still needs to happen, so assuming Bama wins out you end up with another 2-3 3 loss teams on that side.
Of course the SECers will be quick to chatter is Bama wins another national title, but I think this year is a lot more interesting if we get to see Oregon or (gag) FSU in that game. Certainly better than them bullying a hapless ND or Ohio St. squad
all this sec on the way down talk is terrific, but if they win their 8th straight this year, we'll be right back where we started.
We just have to get Ohio State to lose so they're out of the picture. Because if they win out, Oregon and FSU lose, then they'll play in the Natty. I think we all know what will happen then, more annoying "SEC" chants and SEC circle jerking all off season and through their obligatory 3 community college beat down teams.
As long as FSU and Oregon win out there is no way OSU gets the number 2 slot. The hard part is going to be FSU getting the nod if Oregon wins out. Of course Bama may still lose as the ultimate depth of the SEC continues to grow.
