I cannot take credit for this, as this was posted by a crying Wahoo. This is eye opening about just howwide the gap is between the two schools. Someone needs to tweet this kind of stuff to young recruits.
- In 44 games as UVA's head coach, Mike London is 18-26.
- Of those 18 wins, 5 are against lowly FCS foes (VMI twice, Richmond twice, and William & Mary)
- Of the remaining 13 wins, only 11 are against BCS conference teams (the other two being Eastern Michigan and Idaho).
- Overall during his tenure here, London's teams have been outscored in BCS conference games by a total of 962-663, which comes out to an average of 28.3 to 19.5 (over the span of 34 BCS conf. games)
- Losses to non-BCS teams include Southern Miss (home), Ball State (home), Louisiana Tech (home); oh, and the win over Idaho mentioned above was in OT at home (21-20).
- In nearly 4 seasons, London has managed to beat just ONE team that finished ranked in the top-25, #23 FSU, Jimbo Fisher's most underachieving team to-date.
- In 51 cumulative weeks across nearly 4 seasons, UVA has managed to break into the top-25 just once, at #25, for a game in which the Hoos lost 38-0 to Virginia Tech at home.
- Cutcliffe's Duke is 3-1 against Virginia under London.
- #23, 25, 29th ranked recruiting classes the last three years. In comparison, Louisville had the 29th, 44th, and 36th ranked classes during that same period. You know, the same Louisville program that is 31-15 since 2010 and won a BCS Bowl against #3 Florida last year.
- Outscored by VT 92-21 since 2010, going 0-3 in that span.
- 2-12 against our rivals (VT, UNC, MD, and Duke, which I included for laughs).
- 12 of 26 losses were by 19 points or more, and 5 losses by 30 points or more (two of which were against in-state rival VT).
- Mike London is the 22nd highest paid coach in the country, making $2.6 million per year.
- By rough estimation (could be off), London has made $480,000 per win since arriving at UVA, or $782,000 per BCS-conference win. By comparison, Ball State's coach, Pete Lembo (who already beat London this year), makes $400,000 total PER YEAR. Oh, and he already has the Cardinals bowl-eligible at 7-1.

this is hilarious
London really needs to stay at UVA. I can't stress that enough.
You mean London or the OP?
I'd say, yes, London needs to stay at UVA. It is clear to me now that UVA's desire to go private is to make more money, which is needed due to massive mismanagement where they dramatically overpay for mediocre-to-poor results. If they have such a great law school, who suggested that London should have been given a binding contract extension? Or am I thinking of someone else?
If you were talking about the OP, no, I think he should transfer to VT. We're always considering adding more logical engineer/analyst types. Transfer to VT and go IE or STAT, friend.
He stays= LOLUVA keeps doing poorly. While I think it's hilarious what he has done to the program, I'm all for him staying as a hokie fan/student.
Reading down this list, I couldn't resist, but to:

Man, that's bad lol LOLUVA is probably a decent QB from being a 7 win team.
Joe, French, and other powers that be. I suggest that you guys reach out to this UVa blog guy. This is good stuff. Could you use a resident Hoo?
Meanwhile, VT will just keep rolling over them

to add to it, this press release isnt something a coach who feels secure in his job releases
Front page of roanoke times sport page: Mike London "I know how to win." I died laughing in the break room.
I guess he just chooses not to?
I saw this last night while eating dinner...almost choked on my water. He knows how to win but yet they
are still not winning. LMAO
From studying film of VT!
I saw that too. Maybe he should share this knowledge with his team?
Unless he wants to lose?? Yea I don't get it
I know, right? I can see his players reading this in the paper...
"WHAT???! HE'S BEEN HOLDING OUT ON US??!?"
Clearly he's been reading TKP.
Lobbed that one up and you nailed it!
Much obliged. Have a leg.
Great find. But I am going to brave the down votes and play Saban's advocate.
In Beamer's first 44 games his record was: 17 - 26 - 1
I am in no way saying that CryBaby/TimeCop is the righteous golden god that Beamer is, but it is worth pointing out that winning, especially at a program that has not been winning for a long time, takes time.
We all laugh at London and the AD who keeps him there (I have made too many jokes to count) but I have the feeling that the Admin at LOLUVA is giving London the same amount of time Beamer was given. Roughly to 4 year cycles two build a program.
Now that that is over with, let me share in the TimeCop Laugh Fest
This may be true, but let's look at where the program was when each coach inherited their respective team. Virginia Tech was mediocre independent football team that was hit with recruiting sanctions when Beamer took them over. We all know what he has done since then.
Mike London inherited a team that was leaps and bounds ahead of what Beamer rebuilt. The facilities, history, recruiting, major conference affiliation were already there for him. They had the winningest ACC coach at the end of the 90s. They took a step back during the Al Groh years, but they still put tons of really good players in the NFL.
London has the resources that Beamer didn't when they started their respective gigs. His inability to succeed is on him.
the hoos were making this argument on their own board, so I'll just sum up what the more realistic uva fans said:
Beamer was coming to a program in a non-major conference (wasnt in big east till '91) to a program coming off sanctions and was not getting great recruits at this point in time. London is getting top 25 classes every year, is in a BCS conference and has no sanctions. Besides, for every Beamer there are hundreds of Spazianis or Weis's
yah look, you guys get no argument from me. As I have stated in many a LOLUVA and London bashing he is a terrible coach. He embodies Less from More.
My point is just that it takes time to turn around a program anywhere, unless your name is Saban or Meyer, and that LOLUVA admin is going to give him 2 four year cycles to "build" a program.
I never said he was capable to do that though.
Schiano didn't have Rutgers turned around until his 5th season, but that was Rutgers. Even there he won 3 games his first 2 years then went 5-7 and 4-7. Al Golden took Temple to a bowl game in his 4th season. Steve Sarkisian took over a Washington team that went 0-12 in 2008 and went to a bowl game in 2 years.
He also had Ray Rice and a Big East schedule to look forward too.
Sure, though a) UVA has talent on the roster and b) the ACC isn't exactly murderer's row. My point was that Rutgers was a bigger joke than UVA is now then when Schiano took over and he was able to make steady progress and break through. Prior to 2005 Rutgers hadn't been to a bowl since 1978. It shouldn't take a coach a decade to get somewhere with a program.
Also Beamer wasn't getting top 25 recruiting classes every year like London has been the past four years.
haha... yeah I know man. I get it. Was just making a point about building a program and how difficult it is. Beamer definitely had less to work with and didn't have the recruits or facilities. Despite all that I still believe LOLUVA are using Beamer as their benchmark for the time needed to build a program in VA.
Didn't mean to disparage Beamer and VT if that's how people are reading it. The Saban made me do it:

I think Frank is definitely the exception to the rule in this regard. Suggesting London could/will get better because Beamer did is disregarding the hundreds of coaches who didn't when given a longer chance (off the top of my head, Weiss, Zook, what's-his-face who was at Duke before Cutliff)...
definitely did not suggest that. In fact, I clearly said they were not comparable.
I also said that my point was that it is very difficult to do and that I believe the LOLUVA believes this and will give him the same amount of time.
I'll defend fernleyhokie here. I think what he's trying to say is that:
UVA has been struggling for a while now. They cannot just continue to flip through coaches until they hit the jackpot. They have to show some faith and let London go for awhile. It's an $8 million buy-out, that's not chump change.
It's basic economics, UVA believes that they will get better value from giving London another year or two than by firing him now and hiring some new guy.
what if they hire Chad Morris?
The better question is, why would Chad Morris accept a job at UVa? He's earned better.
well I don't REALLY think that would ever happen, but let's have a little fun with this
he saw that UVA was willing to shell out a ton of cash to a coach from FCS so they should be willing to shell out even more cash for somebody with a more proven track record in FBS.
He probably thinks he could have a ton of success with the recruits London has drawn to the program in a short amount of time...
this way he moves up to a head coaching position at a garbage program, turns it around quickly and his stock skyrockets so he can bolt for another program that will pay him even MORE moneys....
plus he thinks he has a lot of success against VT which (besides miami) is the only real obstacle in the coastal division. If he could get UVA to the ACCCG for the first time ever that would validate him as a top notch head coach...he's got to be banking on getting offers from more promising programs (maybe Ohio State will have an opening after Urban has heart murmurs or creates some other condition to bolt before losing a game)
well that was fun. go for it guys, tear it up!
Not a bad argument, but the problem is UVa won't have a ton of cash to shell out after buying out London in the proposed scenario. My guess is the boosters and program as a whole will be pretty pissed about paying a lot for a coach that didn't pan out, only to have to pay a ton of money to get rid of him.
well if they go private..
What would happen if they temporarily honored their financial commitment to cML, but demoted him to a non-coaching position and hired cCM? Any chance cML would quit and move on to preserve any chance of continuing his career in college coaching, thus either freeing lolUVA from a buyout or negotiating a lower one? I think that would be crazy financially on cML's part, but would lolUVA take that gamble? I don't see it, but...
Because he can recruit the entire 757, which is LOADED with top-end talent at offensive positions.
My nightmare scenario: They go after Bud Foster. Instant credibility with their Alum, Bud gets a major coaching gig and a lot of talent he can work with.
Don't beat me up too bad, this is MY nightmare and something I hope is out of the realm of possibility.
A lot has been rumored about Bud Foster potentially leaving for a HC job, whether he even wants one, and a bunch of other stuff. I don't know what Bud's plans are or what plans VT has for him in the future.
There is the chance pretty much every off-season that he could leave for somewhere else, especially this year if the defense keeps doing what they're doing. But I doubt he would ever go to UVA. He's been here too long and I think respects that rivalry too much to do that to us.
chad morris at uva?
they wouldnt. . . they. . . couldnt
Thanks Skipper. That's exactly what I was trying to say... why words no come so good me?
I recently had to sit through a training class for work the was basically an 8-hour review of engineering economics at VT. I was about to go off on a tangent about Return on Investment and how a dollar is worth more now than tomorrow.....but I decided to go to sleep instead.
Anyway, that's why all that stuff came to me. I'm usually not good with words myself.
Was London a good cop? lol
I think so. I heard a lot of his interrogation tactics involved using the Good Cop/Bad Coach method
I heard he also used to put the perps in timeout to try to extract information. Given how much they just laughed at him, he doesn't believe in using the timeouts any more.
Turkey leg for matching all 3 of my favorite teams...
But, I've heard bad cop/bad cop is much more effective. Like in The Other Guys movie lol
Maybe that's it He likes to see ZEROs on the scoreboard because he thinks they're DONUTS.
They've scored 21 points against us? WTF. Unacceptable.
