Fuck.
ughhhh! attrition I hate you!!!!! this has been the worst off season EVER!!!!!! why cant we have nice things!!!
Oh, fun!
OK Whit... take some action. Buzz and Fuente are having discipline issues out of the norm here. Time for the boss to step in.
The extent to which Buzz and Fu are responsible for the actions of their players goes hand-in-hand with the extent to which they have shown themselves willing to discipline those players. A player getting kicked off the team for X, Y, or Z says more positively about the respective coaching staffs' willingness to discipline than it says negatively.
YES. I think, in the past, at Virginia Tech bad behavior was tolerated in the hopes of good performance. Much like anything in life little good comes of bad.
I'm not looking to get into a legal discussion here. Teams have rules that are binding and a violation of those rules, no matter how ridiculous anyone on person thinks they are, is a challenge to the authority of the coach and the integrity of the program.
You don't have to agree to the rules if you don't like them but you can't play for these two coaches.
Obviously I agree that these specific instances are not Fuente or Buzz's "fault."
But I will ask this valid question: What the fuck is going on with the Virginia Tech Football and Basketball programs?
That was my point.... Those 2 guys have a boss. I'm not saying its their fault, but they have a boss and he needs to address this in some way.
If I was Whit, I would be okay with it. Heck, maybe Whit told Fuente and Buzz that they need to clean up their programs.
Honest question. What would you have Whit do? Or said another way, if you were in Whit's shoes, what steps would you take to "address this in some way"?
I think we need to dust off the CAP and look at it. Whit needs to see what is going on and why Mook, Adonis, Hill, Clarke, etc, etc are being suspended and removed from the program as upperclassman. Is there not enough monitoring and support? Those are questions I would ask if I were Whit.
Do you know if Whit has been involved in those decisions? I guess I was always under the impression that our AD would be part of any suspensions involving VT athletics.
Seems reasonable. Like FudBoster, I was under the impression that Whit is involved in these decisions. Is that not the case? Also, enlighten me, what is the CAP?
cap=hat
I got you fam
Lol. But seriously, what does it mean? Someone mentioned it was written in the 90s. I have never heard of this acronym and I'm curious.
I don't recall what the acronym stands for, but basically is the policy which governs mandatory/minimum consequences for various team and legal infractions. I *think* one of those is that any player charged with a felony is suspended indefinitely. There are certainly other situations that it covers, too.
Comprehensive Action Plan
The above description of the plan is correct. It was written in the mid-90s after several incidents involving football players, and was intended to compel coaches to discipline players appropriately by taking decisions regarding more serious issues out of their hands, on the theory that that would decrease the number of serious issues. I guess.
If the ceiling is the roof, the dome is the cap
Cap anagrams to Pac.
Don't believe me? Look it up!
Still, getting kicked off the team is a last-resort option. One would hope that less stringent disciplinary measures are being imposed prior to that becoming a necessity.
To paraphrase a brilliant man (History and Moral Philosophy teacher, Lieutenant Colonel Jean V. Dubois):
Not a bad take. But here's the thing. The big $ donors may start to smell a stink. Right or wrong, they might not like the smell, and might believe it's a symptom of rot somewhere.
Won't happen immediately. But when you have 2 potentially pro-caliber athletes doing things that get them suspended or dismissed, sure seems like something's afoot at the Circle K, and needs to be watched closely.
I read this as a joke until I saw the username...
It's funny, once I see the username it makes all of his comments just a joke!
Its a legit question, unless you think unprecedented disciple problems and attrition are the norm? The only comparison is the mid 90's when they actually wrote the CAP because disciple was so bad.
I think it is a legitimate question just maybe should have been phrased a little better, if someone at their job had to dismiss multiple people in their organization their boss would definitely get clarification as to why this is happening, I think the idea of Whit having to "step in" is a little overblown, this may have been all cleared and addressed already behind closed doors, it is difficult to speculate
What, are you saying that dcwilson40 has issues with phrasing? ;^)
Nub nu, bud. ;^)
It's not a legit question because this is in no way "unprecedented" discipline and attrition. We have had one bball player disciplined and two football players disciplined (Adonis was from grades, which happens to a couple players on every program a year), which is average if not below average with every other D-1 program in the country. The attrition from football is also partly from changes in coaching staffs but also happens with every team.
There is nothing unprecedented about the discipline here, just a few players making bad choices which is going to happen on any team full of athletes who are put on a pedestal whether they can handle the spotlight or not.
Unprecedented for VT maybe? I'm grasping at straws here
I disagree. Can't undermine the coaches in either case. Whatever happened, I trust this is the right action by Buzz.
The downvotes are unwarranted. It's just his opinion. It appears nothing was learned from the last saga and most of TKP still lives in glass houses.
Y'all if comments like this are gonna get down votes just cause you don't like what he said, then it's time to get rid of comment votes all together and go to a purely mod based system here. And that's not what we need. This was not out of line. Learn to listen to other ideas.
**Gonna go back to my Halloween beer now.
I've long been an advocate of policing the downvote rules. Of course, it would be completely unfair to have one moderator constantly reviewing voting habits. So my solution is that if you publicly nuked a few of the worst offenders, halting their voting privileges and setting their own turkey leg counts to zero, the deterrence value would keep things in line.
After seeing it madly abused, instead of doing any policing the decision was to hide the bad behavior by taking away the separate upvote/downvote tallies on each comment.
Can't say I'm surprised it didn't stop the abuse of the system.
TKPers have a downvote hair trigger when bad things are happening. I have argued before and still contend that commenting history goes a long way with this. Even though dcwilson has a valid point many times, I think he comes across like Randy Quaid's character in Major League way too often and people just don't want to hear it. I'm not saying it's right, just that it happens. These downvotes were unwarranted, but I think this is what happened here just as it has before.
I think the only way you can 'blame' Buzz/Fuente for issues like this is if you believe that they recruit kids with character issues. Otherwise, I'm not sure what Whit can do that Buzz/Fuente aren't.
OK Whit... take some action. Buzz and Fuente are having discipline issues out of the norm here. Time for the boss to step in.
Are these issues out of the norm? To me, it seems that when players get out of line they're disciplined. Isn't that fairly normal for all NCAA teams, with some being more lenient than others?
I'm not seeing a clear indication that Whit needs to intervene, unless there's something that you know that the rest of us don't.
Sure, then it becomes "unfounded speculation LA LA LA LA I AM NOT LISTENING TO JEFFREY" time. I'm pretty sure dcwilson has a bit of insight. That he won't or can't share, due to blowback or the nature of the source.
He does have a bit of insight. Picture of him from the tailgate this weekend:
Funny story. My wife bought me a tank top with this quote on it. One of my favorite shirts. Was wearing it the other day when I was watching our three kids as well as four other kids who came over to play with my kids for a few hours. Didn't realize until after the Mom had came in, chatted for 10 minutes, and left with her kids that I was wearing this shirt. Ugh...Dad of the year I guess.
Since your wife bought you the shirt, and your screen name is wildturkey, I'm guessing the secret is out.
You just don't have these problems on the bass fishing team...that's why we have a natty in that sport! /s
that's because they drink nattys in that sport! fixed it.
What I want to know is when that success will be properly recognized by the administration. We need to lobby hard for schollies for our bass fishing team to show our institutional support in our most highly decorated sport. Can't we all get behind this and get 'er did?
At least he wasn't dismissed? Suspended > dismissed. Still a chance to come back (especially by ACC play).
Was removed from the roster....
Im pretty sure that is the case for all indefinite suspensions at Tech
He's not on the online roster:
https://hokiesports.com/roster.aspx?path=mbball
FootballBasketballBass fishing school.Men's soccer will be going to NCAA's.
Tech also does currently have 11 Natty's in T&F events. Just individual not team events.
We're a true powerhouse there, number 1 in the Bass Fishing Playoff Poll. ESPN is coming to our next tournament to watch us play Sandman on a portable stereo as we paddle out of the claustrophobic creek. Atmosphere will be lit at the pond.
We're a wrestling school.

Our defense is softer than baby shit. Get this guy a helmet.
If only most of the moves our wrestling team uses were not holding calls in football.
As my high school coach said to one of the wrestlers at our school. "You look like foot ball"
I am sure he could shed a few blocks and wrap up a QB. Is a suplex a legal tackle?
I'm fairly certain if you did that to a QB these days the NFL would literally give you the death penalty.
Doesn't look like he landed on him with his full weight. ;^)
LOL. Now I really want to see someone do this to see how they call it.
leg for the greatest safety of all time
You just knew the hype was too good to be true, right? Fuck this. Let's hope he comes back since he wasn't dismissed as mentioned above but he's not on the online roster so that can't be good.
Well, there's always football to look forward to...next year...I hope
That official statement makes Fuente seem like a loose-lipped drunk who can't keep anything to himself.
The cotton candy represents my expectations.
via GIPHY
That poor raccoon :( He probably didn't need all that sugar though.
Is that sugar? Looked like Styrofoam to me which made it worse. Poor trash panda.
That's one sad trash panda.
Man, even though cotton candy is terrible for any kind of animal, can't help but feel sad for that raccoon.
Expectations for Virginia Tech Basketball is terrible for any kind of animal. :(
Welp, the hits keep coming.
Dang.... Hopefully this means Outlaw and Horne are ready to step up in his place, especially defensively. Unlike football, we are fortunate to have at least some experienced depth with Buzz's squad this.
Hoping Chris can earn his way back to the team over the next month or two. Would be a bummer to see his time in Blacksburg end this way.
So how's our baseball team looking? Any all-stars we should expect to kick off the team around February?
Yeah I'm going to say no, they got a new coach and gutted most of the scholarship players. Last years team was transfers and freshmen
What's the chances it's a Coach K "indefinite" suspension?
Dear God, it's me, Jonah Hill. From Moneyball.
Very low
It's only funny because it's true :-)
Based on what I've heard, lim x -> 0.
*extremely lindsey lohan voice*
THE LIMIT DOES NOT EXIST!
Gotta have a function to define a limit!
you can have the lim of x as x-> 0
You can, indeed! Still have to specify that it's the function, though. :)
Wow, good things really aren't happening at VT this season...
Didn't Clarke do all the preseason media loop with Buzz? Definitely not someone I would have expected this to happen to
Looks like we're getting the tight lipped no info provided treatment again.
Yep. No matter what the coaches and staff are really good at circling the wagons and keeping things tightly sealed.
Following privacy and student information disclosure laws is not "circling the wagon."
Outside of FERPA, which doesn't apply here, which other laws are you talking about?
I hope no one is paying you for this legal advice.
I mean if they did provide info they'd be in violation of FERPA laws so of course we're getting no info.
FERPA is not applicable.
Welp mens swim & dive just beat Penn State and #10 Ohio State. Thats something...right?
mission complete!
They have ECU next so have nothing to worry about....
How's the weather looking though?
Damnit. This is not the news I was hoping for. CC is one of my favorites for his hustle and rebounding. If he is gone for the year I'm going to have to adjust my expectations from a national championship to just an elite 8 appearance.
Chris Clarke has yet to play a full season in college
So we can expect a Donate to the Hokie Club email tomorrow?
Hahahahaha
Its like my dentists office, who sent me a 'please review your visit' only hours after I got home from getting a couple cavities filled and a deep cleaning performed, all of which required numbing shots and drills...
Timing isn't our thing...
Please turn this plaid, y'all.
Obviously this will have an impact but I don't think its going to have as big an impact as some think it will. Clarke has a lot of talent, but he's also extremely frustrating as a player because he plays so raw and reckless. They are games he will win you with that and there are games he will lose you with that. He's a Jekyll and Hyde type player where you never really know which one you're going to get in a game (sometimes you get both in the same game). But because of that recklessness, it limits just how good he can be and since he's never really been consistently good for us, I think his loss won't hurt as much. This will be like a bee sting more than a gaping wound; painful initially but it passes.
(I fully realize these are a lot of ifs upcoming). If NAW hits his potential, Nolley plays like his recruiting level, and Hill plays well for a full season instead of just against weak OOC foes like he does every year, we might not miss Clarke at all. There's others too that could help fill that void. If you had to lose a player, at least its a wing player since this team is basically 85% wings. Losing Clarke isn't ideal but theoretically at least, we've got talent there to make up for it. If this were Robinson or Blackshear, I'd be in full Def Con 1. Right now I'm like Def Con 4. We'll be fine. Maybe...
I agree with this assessment of Clarke's play. There were long stretches last year where he was really atrocious, especially with the ball in his hands.
Even when the result turned out well, it still looked atrocious too. I'm not sure any player in sports has ever made me as nervous as he did when he ran a fast break.
Too soon
I differ here mainly because his recklessness and hard play quite frequently gets us back into games where we may otherwise collapse. He also does a loooot of the dirty work that doesn't show up on the box score. I would say Horne needs to become significantly more physical to not notice a drop-off
He is also one of the best rebounders on a team made up of shorter players. Lose him and you lose half the rebounds he would have gotten. He can also guard 1-4 so you are losing a versatile defender. This will hurt a lot more than you are leading on to.
He's not THAT good of a defender. He's fine, but I wouldn't say he's lockdown. Plenty of times his energy is reckless to where he's out of position, getting blown past because he's too far out or he's sprinted too far to help leaving an entire side of the court open or just aimlessly roaming around the court with what looks like pressure but can actually be exposed pretty easily against a disciplined team. He gambles a lot, more than he should. And a lot of his rebounding was by design because with Blackshear out of the game, Buzz had most of his team either get back on defense or get out in transition leaving Clarke as one of the players designated to get the rebounds. It's the sacrifice Buzz has made since we don't have front court size (and haven't for some time now). I'm not saying he's a bum. He's got good skills, but its not inconceivable that another player on the team will fill that role.
Clarke's positive contributions to the team are more rooted in effort and hustle than they are talent. You can't replicate talent but you can replicate effort. It's just going to take some other player(s) to say I'm going to fight for that loose ball, I'm gonna get up in that guy's space on defense, I'll fight for that rebound. I think we can get that effort from the other players we have on the team. Plus, its not like we've never won games without him during his tenure. He hasn't exactly been dependable.
Its funny many employers say just the opposite when filling jobs.
The most recent one I will always remember is SuperStar Chef Kenji López on hiring cooks for his new restaurant.
freakonomics podcast j-kenji-lopez-alt
Totaly unrealted and Basketball is different...but TIL
Definitely agree. Robinson is the catalyst that will provide opportunities to all the wings. No depth behind Blackshear. Losing either of those would be season changers. Losing Clarke is bad, but surmountable, I think.
PJ Horne is Blackshear's backup... he's a bit undersized but he is a legit post player.
He's 6'5", he's more than a bit undersized. He's two inches shorter than Zach LeDay, who was undersized. He's clearly got some talent, but if he's alone in the post for long stretches we're gonna get run over by teams with a legit post scorer (Zion Williamson et al).
Maybe a legit post player in high school???
He may like to play physically & under the rim but he has not come close to proving anything yet.
To piggyback on the larger point, we actually have the benefit of a point of reference into how Clarke's absence might affect the team's performance. After Clarke's ACL tear in 2016-2017 our scoring offense and scoring defense went up and down respectively against ACC opponents. Offense went from 74.6 PPG to 79.4 PPG, and defense went from 79.6 PPG to 77 PPG.
Obviously that was a different team with Allen, LeDay, and Bibbs still in the program, but some other pieces from those days remain like 5, Outlaw, and KBJ (although he was also injured at the time).
The basketball team knows it's not a competition with the fb team for who can have the worst offseason, right?
Beat me to it
"Reminder to Buzz: you only have like 15 guys"
10 on scholarship after this. Nolley Outlaw and Horne are about to see a giant increase in minutes
Oh, so you mean our offseason woes are tied to the basketball offseason? No wonder the football team has still been having setbacks all year. Only one more week for things to go wrong at this point.
Hope he is not kicked off the team permanently. He has the highest ceiling out of everyone on the roster.
"Indefinite suspension" != "Dismissal"
He should have a chance to earn his way back onto the squad. Only question is how and how long, but I'm guessing both he and Buzz have the answers to that.
Don't think this is true at all. He's a hard player, and a decent defender, but he doesn't have an outside shot, and he has a propensity to run into four guys and lose the ball. The team is definitely better with him than without him, but NAW has a higher career ceiling, Nolley by all accounts is legit, Robinson was always going to score more this year. This hurts, but we definitely didn't just lose our best player.

Hopefully this is a coach K suspension - back by conference games.
I've been lurking on several VT sites today & basically everyone with inside info has said it doesn't sound good at all. I wouldn't get your hopes up
So what are other VT sites sayin?
Joe Mixon was mentioned.
Oh for fuck's sake. Really hope that's not the case. That would be extremely disappointing.
So Chris will be a first round pick next May?
This comment needs an editor! Joe Mixon wasn't a first round pick and neither the NBA nor NFL drafts occur in May.
Not gonna say you're right... but also not gonna say you're wrong. For those of you still optimistic about the "suspension" sorry but he's not coming back.
Ding ding ding.
They're saying exactly what I & others just said.. Nobody has given specifics of what exactly he did but they have said "it doesn't sound good & they would be surprised if he comes back so don't get your hopes up"
Yeah.... from what I've heard, if this stays a suspension, it should be a long one.
Hokie Nation needs something good to happen at some point. Nothing but bad news and bad losses.
Well sad... But this is a deep team and Landers Nolley just saw his. PT go up dramatically
You know what would make me feel better, if some other P5 team is suffering.
Football Season: "Can't wait to see Mook, Webb, and Adonis in the defensive backfield."
Basketball Season "Can't wait to see Clarke and *names redacted for precautionary reasons*"
Basketball offseason sees football offseason and says "Hold my beer."
Guys, guys, guys, relax. This is a planned roster move to clear space for the grand return of Khadim Sy.
#Didn'tSythatcoming
#Thenumbersalwaysworkout
Not the end of the world, but a chance for some of the young guys to get more PT. Chris is a very dynamic player but you knew in the first minute which way it was going to go for that game. Sometimes good, sometimes not so good. We will be fine.
My #sauces have told me this is a domestic violence issue. That's all I can comment on the matter.
Ohio State would have had that cleared up by now.
Just delete the texts!
Murland would have thrown the phones in the Anacostia River.
But only after they showed all the evidence to everyone
This might be a dumb question but can you redshirt during a suspension year? Hypothetically, can we suspend him for a season and have him return the year after for his final year of eligibility?
If what's rumored is true, I'd prefer he not come back.
That's a whole different discussion (but I do believe most of us would take him back in a heartbeat after a suspension even if we won't admit it now). Since the name Joe Mixon has been brought up, Mixon was suspended for one year so I thought it was a valid question.
If he hit his girlfriend? No I don't think most of us would take him back. I would hope he gets the help he needs and another chance to play somewhere else if he earns a second chance. But there have to be serious consequences for domestic violence (if these rumors are true). And if they aren't true, I feel awful for CC. That's one of the worst things you can be falsely accused of.
If it's pot or alcohol, I don't give a shit. Bring him back after the Liberty scrimmage.
Just curious, would you take back De'Andre Johnson if he was on the football team and you had the following video to make your decision?
IMHO, a singular act of physical assault towards a woman that's proven beyond a reasonable doubt should be immediate grounds for dismissal even though not every situation is black and white.
That video should have its title changed from "Quarterback punches girl" to "Quarterback tries to prevent girl from hitting him, fails, and slaps the shit out of her."
Why are we making jokes about this...?
Coping mechanism
If it's weed, bring him back tomorrow.
If it's weed maybe he just didn't puff puff give!
There's no reason it couldn't count as a redshirt year, so if he is out the entire season but "redeems" himself (whatever that means to Buzz and the team) he should have one year of eligibility remaining.
I believe in order to be redshirted you have to be enrolled in school. This would count as one of his 5 years, but not a redshirt.
suspended from the team does not mean he's not enrolled in school
Redshirt basically just means sitting out a season. If someone were to be suspended the full season (like Marcus Vick) it would functionally be a redshirt year when it comes to eligibility. Typical redshirts can practice with the team though, so it's not a "normal" redshirt in that regard.
Can he play football? We could use the athletic help.
Uhhhhh
He is a little small for a DT.
But, OMG...what a CB?
I don't have any #sauces, nor is this from behind a paywall but a few minutes of Twitter/Reddit searching will reveal rumors that are not pretty.
If those accusations are true, CC won't be back.
I'm curious now because I did similar skimming and have seen everything from terrible domestic abuse claims to CC just partying and Buzz cracking down.
I think we should wait for someone with some serious source before we start catastrophizing. We have a football team to be miserable over now.
I've seen more rumors of the former. I certainly hope they're wrong.
If it were the latter, Buzz's reaction would seem a bit extreme.
I'm reading a thread on reddit right now and someone who says they used to play ball with him has allegedly spoken with Chris and those close to him, and he doesn't think it was a DV issue based on those conversations. On the otherhand, if has spoken with Chris and those close to him, you would think the person would have asked "What happened?"
I'm saying until someone steps up and says here is my source, here is exactly what I know, I'm not going to speculate. It hasn't been that long since the board went wild with speculation about JJ and Mook. It took Mook's dad to set the record straight.
Things are so tough to talk about with today's culture. I'd hate to be CC and see people on this board saying they don't want him back before hearing anymore than a statement saying he is indefinitely suspended, wild speculation, and a Gritty gif.
We are all here because we are passionate. Of course we all want to know what happened. But let's have at least someone credible point one way or the other before we go into a frenzy.
Did Mook's dad really set the record straight? All I can remember is him saying that the rumors of Mook being in trouble and in danger of getting thrown off the team were false. Then a couple weeks later, Mook was indeed gone.
I think so. Papa Mook definitely put an end to the "academic ineligibility" talk that was going on with Mook. He also very plainly put Mook's account of what happened to wind up off the team.
Come December you may find out about the legal issue. He has a court date then.
FWIW, the fact that he was never found responsible for an academic issue doesn't mean there wasn't one. There is no statement or official release that there was an investigation if the verdict is not-responsible, only if one is found responsible.
Earlier in the off-season, commenters were lumping Mook in with AA in the "bad grades, academically ineligible". That's when Papa Mook made it pretty clear that Mook wasn't going to be ruled academically ineligible. Academic eligibility is grades.
Then there was the Josh Jackson nonscandal rife with conflicting reports regarding his indefinite suspension for an honor code violation, during which you said it wasn't Mook who was also involved in the JJ situation (then edited your comment to be ambiguous so maybe it was), then said it was a running back (before editing that to be more ambiguous too), and eventually mentioned that we were still worried about Mook's academic status (when nobody really was).
But it's pretty obvious that you believe your marinade, and it's pretty obvious that what you're talking about and what Papa Mook was talking about aren't the same thing.
Obviously my comment above is somewhat generalized and is playing devil's advocate. Also, the point of editing something in many cases is to correct a mistake, which I did, and even apologized for the confusion to the community. You really love holding on to things, man. Great job with your flags and keeping TKP on its toes, we'd be lost without ya.
My point is that Papa Mook's comment had nothing to do with "an academic issue" in the sense that you seemed to imply it would have. Why come back all these months later and "play devil's advocate" for a position you once held that was evidently wrong?
This true about everything. Just because I have never seen the sandman doesn't mean that he doesn't exist.
I know that's the source that convinced me.
You can tell it's the truth in those eyes.
Quick, somebody put some bubblewrap around JRob's fifth metatarsal (both of them). Because I think we're a broken metatarsal away from missing out on the tournament, now.
My coworker is from Cape Henry (CC's high school) and his info was that it was a very bad no-no with the girlfriend and domestic violence and therefore this will not be a suspension.
I love CC. Effort and energy is always at a max. He just can't leave the hippie lettuce alone. It's a shame. A selfish act on his part.
Is this that dam truth?
Is it 1950? We're all afraid of the rumors involving domestic violence and you're worried about him smoking the "hippie lettuce"? That would be a harmless violation that's easily forgivable. That news would be a huge relief.
The two might not be unrelated. I have an old high school friend who married a guy who gets.... scary when he gets high after drinking (hence, he rarely drinks), so it could be something like that, assuming the rumors are true, of course.
If this is true, the problem isn't marijuana. It's alcohol.
Pretty sure the problem is the combination of both mind altering toxins
Nope. Toxins? Nope. There are a plethora of herbs, spices, berries and fruits that exist in our world. Pot and alcohol are not equivalent, both naturally occurring, and if abused, abused with demonstrably different results. Toxins carries a connotation that isn't altogether so clear. Coffee? Tea? Toxins? Too much discriminatory rhetoric ascribed to this, that or the other.
The problem is self control, and not much else, but I'd say alcohol is more likely to cause a temper problem and loss of self control.
Now, let me get back to my cheetos.
Ethanol has a clear cut damaging effect on the human body.. it is most certainly a toxic substance or toxin.
While THC on the other hand is >not> on the same level of damaging it has been shown to have negative effects on brain function/chemistry with long term exposure, so it's not a stretch to refer to it as a toxic substance or toxin. Plus THC typically comes along with combustion byproducts (smoke/co2/co) which are proven to have damaging effects on the human body and can accurately be referred to as toxic substances or toxins with little debate.
So yes... exposure to mind-altering toxins is a fair way to describe both smoking weed and drinking alcohol
I guess my point is that we don't know all of the effects of everything, plus and/or minus. One man's poison may be another man's medicine. Aspirin will kill you if you abuse it. Not advocating or anything, but if one were to draw an equivalency of negativity, I'd think alcohol would be much more damaging than pot in the long run. We use toxic substances to cure illnesses and treat cancer. I get your point, and can't refute it, but think the debate doesn't start or end there.
So toxin then right?
Look, I know I backed myself into a corner here. I guess I'll just bow out. My original point should have been all I said.
Part of me wants to rant about even the air we breathe being toxic, but I know that's stupid. I'm maybe thinking that some toxins as they can be defined, may have benefits that we are not yet aware of, but it's really obvious that I should just shut the hell up. So, I will.
I get what you're saying but smoking dried plants and drinking alcohol generally have more negative effects than positive, hence the label of toxins. Weed has some medicinal uses (alcohol technically does too, like as a painkiller, but is considered too toxic compared to readily accessible alternatives) but you can generally obtain those medical benefits without burning the plant (edibles, extracts, etc)
and as always, the dose makes the poison.
Chemtrails? ;^)
Pretty sure the problem is that some people are just violent assholes, and booze and weed are (poor) excuses. Plenty of us drink our faces off and manage not to beat on people.
Thanks for saying what I guess I really started off trying to say.
single anecdote = conspiracy theory that must be shared
Conspiracy theory?
ok, if you insist. Hmmm... Got it, Coach K snuck himself into Blacksburg to plant a little dragon powder on CC's bedside table, then hired Grayson Allen to take out his gf, which he did by tripping her down a flight of stairs. One 'anonymous' call to the BPD later, and the trap was set.
Is he still on the dookies? What is he like a 10th year senior by this point?
He gone
Speaking of Jazz Cabbage (below) he is on the Jazz now. 21st overall pick IIRC.
I don't watch the NBA. Has he tripped anyone yet? I'm guessing no, because there surely would've been a big news story about him getting his ass kicked. Or maybe that's just what I'm hoping happens. Ok, it's definitely what I'm hoping happens.
he hasn't played much yet so no in game tripping. but im sure hes somewhere getting it done.
greyson allen as a kid gif.... loading.....

Grayson Allen as a teenager
Not harmless when you fail a drug test?
If the rumors of DV are true, we're better off without him.
DV?

More suspensions than fans at UVA's spring game
At least this is a better take than his top 25. Dude's huge on SEC basketball this season.
He's not the only one
I think there are three reasons to suspend a player indefinitely:
1. the Coach K way - to be able to bring them back when you need them.
2. A student needs to do something to be re-instated - like bring up their grades for example
3. You are waiting for an outside party (like a judge, student body or criminal court) to determine the facts.
Three reasons or three methods?
Two reasons and one method?
1st bracket prediction I've seen. Has us at 7 seed playing Alabama in the 1st round, he has us winning in the 1st round but losing in the 2nd round to Nevada.
lucky for LOLUVA, he doesn't have them matched up with UMBC....BUT....Lehigh might be even more of a challenge
So guess who was on the cover of my basketball tickets that arrived yesterday...
ooh ooh was it chris clarke
bet it was 5
Probably Khadim Sy
I will sure take some BS, f-ing off, and all the other crap that came with the teams from the good ole 2000's. Those guys sure did talk a lot shi! and probably not exactly the most polite, studious, or welcoming folks, but they sure did win some football games and cared about what they put on the field.
Unless there are extreme concerns about things boiling over in the locker room and affecting the rest of the team, Fuc! me, but isolate these dudes and use their talent if your team is going to be shi!. I am more speaking to the football program as the b-ball teams are so small and more tight-knit.
Th!s !s hard to understand, but ! th!nk ! very much d!sagree with you.
Think you're in the wrong place, mate
This sucks but Chris Clarke was not going to make or break this season. Lots of talent and experience still with this years squad
Question....If the rumors we have heard are slightly true wouldn't he have been arrested or some sort of police report filed? If so, wouldn't that be public knowledge by now? The longer this goes without hearing a word on it makes me believe that it isn't a criminal offense where police are involved. We knew of mook's arrest the day he was dismissed. I know here in Arkansas we have intake reports on everyone arrested no matter how small the offense. Is there not an intake report in Blacksburg?
Not if someone is charged in Juvenile/Domestic Court..
No offense, but this reply holds zero water. If he hit a juvenile he would be arrested and we'd know about it. Yes, the juvenile's name would be withheld, but not his. Pretty much the same for a domestic instance. The only way at this point that I can see if it was a domestic event, that a person contacted police about something, and nothing was evident at the outset to warrant an arrest....and now for this long to pass and no arrest, I'm assuming there is nothing there or the person involved is now not cooperating (this is all IF it was what has been speculated).
A warrant(s)for domestic situations aren't public knowledge, hence the reason you can't go to the state courts website and look up case status information. Hitting a juvenile doesn't necessarily mean you get arrested outside of obvious felony situations. In domestic situations police arrest if they can establish a predominant physical aggressor. If they can't or people aren't cooperating they'll likely leave it up to the victim to seek a warrant on their own. He could also be indicted by a grand jury if the CA decided they want to take it there. It could be that Buzz caught wind of an investigation into a domestic incident and decided to get ahead of the issues. I hope everything is resolved with due respect to all parties involved but simply saying that because you can't find public information means there's no issue is erroneous.
Simply implying that I said nothing is there is erroneous on your part. I never stated that. I asked a question and followed up on an answer that didn't make sense. If there is no public information at this point I do find it highly unlikely there is anything there criminally, but certainly believe it's plausible there still is....hence my original question. I never said that since I can't find any public info that there is no issue. I literally said what you stated here (partly). If it is a domestic issue then there wasn't enough to arrest him at the time and that the person involved may now not be cooperating. Oh and if hitting a juvenile doesn't get you arrested unless it is a felony (not even sure what that means....do you have to knock the kid out to be a felony?) then there is something fucked up in Virginia.....
pure speculation here, but... there may be an ongoing criminal investigation to determine whether he should be charged with anything. That could explain why he's suspended and not dismissed.. administration is waiting to see how that turns out before finalizing his status with regard to athletics.
He was at the volleyball game yesterday, so he's still on campus. Also he came in from the tunnel, so he was in the athletic area, not just there as a normal fan.
So he's not on the roster for hokiesports. Idk if that's news or should be expected
I can confirm the reports that he was drunk and sloppy in the north end zone and in the restrooms in Lane at the BC game. He was not acting like a kid that had a chance to come back to the team. How happy would Buzz be- suspension or not- with one of his guys visibly drunk and fumbling around cursing at a football game? not very. Doubt he suits up for us again.
A college kid got drunk at a football game?
Hold the presses
Woosh..
Eh. I will still wait and see. I was once a drunk and sloppy college kid in the North Endzone. He was likely not alone.
Honestly most student-athletes are drunk sloppy college kids when they can be. They like to be able to let loose when they get a chance. Parties hosted by sports teams were honestly some of the best/sloppiest/most fun parties to be at in college.
Greg Roberts reported on his show today that there is a path for Clarke to be reinstated... It is possible per his sources and I think he still has some good ones
Chris Clarke entering Cassell when ACC play begins.
Just listened and his words were "there is an opportunity for Chris Clarke to return to the team, not to say that it will happen but there is a chance."
It seems that Chris Clarke is celebrating something on his Instagram...
Yup. Heard some things at the 15-straight game last night, didn't really wanna spread rumors bc who knows, but the door might be open...
Can you link or screenshot or quote?
Just a selfie with the caption "GOKIES" at around noon today. I'm definitely jumping to conclusions but I don't care
Can't wait for "Clarke is coming back" to become the next "Is Lawson going to transfer"
If by that you mean that it actually happens, me too
I heard at the game today it was a potential dv issue but girlfriend refused to press any charges and has left tech and moved away.
As in CC left or his gf? Not a great situation either way.
The GF. They expected Clarke to be back on the team.
