Kendrick Holland from Winter Haven, Florida is the latest wide receiver to join the Hokies 2014 recruiting class.
I just committed to VT! Future HOKIE :)— Kendrick Holland (@BigDreams_7) October 22, 2013
Both Rivals.com and 247Sports rate Holland as a 3-star prospect. Holland selected the Hokies over Kentucky and Minnesota among others.
Welcome to HokieNation Kendrick!

Shades of a young Randy Moss, methinks.
A 6-3 195 pound WR from FLORIDA... I don't even need to see the tape. I want him.
not afraid to go up for the ball. something a lot of our current receivers lack
Dude put blocking on the perimeter in his highlights.
It's like he was putting the words "LOOK AT ME, COACH MOOREHEAD!!!!" in neon letters across his highlights when I saw that.
Is this kid the Anti-Marcus Davis?
I by no means know how to evaluate recruiting film, but can we have him return punts... NOW
havent seen film but some have compared to boykin
Obligatory tv comment about how big his hands are
Drink!
Drunk already!
With Holland, Bradshaw, Phillips and Harrison, are we done at WR now?
I saw some guy predicted Isaiah Ford to us today on 247 but it was before Holland committed. For him to predict us I'm assuming there's some interest from him, but wasn't sure if we had room. I saw on twitter that Holland and Harrison are friends since they live in the town next to each other so that should help us keep Harrison. Isaiah Ford is from FL as well but from Jacksonville so not that close to the other 2.
Fords offer list is off the charts. May be the best of the bunch.
Exactly. His highlights are impressive too. Would be a shame if he did want to come to VT but couldn't because we filled up on WRs.
For guys like that, slots will magically appear...
247sports has him as committed to louisville on 5/11/13 but multiple analysts have predicted him to VT this week. Can anyone provide insight into this?
Kid looks like a baller. I have stopped getting too excited about recruits until they qualify academically and sign their LOI!
If you haven't watched the highlights posted in the OP, do it now! The kid is sneaky fast - you don't realize how fast he's going until he blows by the defenders. Also plays a pretty good safety and punt returner.
I predict that in a couple of years people will be asking why was he only ranked as a 3*.
He reminds me of Danny Coa...
Wait, hes black?
He reminds me of Jarrett Boykin!
Welcome to Hokie nation Kendrick, now go do your homework so you can help fill that trophy case
This current recruiting class makes me want to not graduate yet... again
Relevant username.
I have a friend in a his 8th? year of undergrad
I mean let's be honest could I really have been expected to graduate after last season? I have no problem waiting for my Hokies at the expense of my future
Who was his lead recruiter? That would be primarily Wiles' territory, right? Or since he's a WR, would it be Moorehead?
believe i saw torrian gray was lead recruiter actually
Heard we gave some 2015 recruit an offer today too. Wasn't sure who. Any clue?
Trevon Hill from Salem High in Va Beach
Andrew Ford's reaction:
Andrew Ford has got to be loving the offensive recruiting this year on OL and WR. He will break many a offensive record in his time.
Looks like he's happy
Natural born leader. This kid is going to be great.
The way he catches, and his speed on punt returns reminds me of Bryan Still.
+1 for remembering for the past. No disrespect to them, but there have been other Hokie wideouts than Boykin and Coale. Why isn't anyone ever compared to Freeman? Hell, Wilford is third in receptions and fifth in yards per catch but doesn't get any love.
True, but Wilford was a WR is a TE body. Not many of those out there.
my gf just named her fish Wilford after him
Wilford was a great player and a good guy. He lived near the apartments that I did volunteer work with kids and he would always be over playing with them too. Had the drop never happened I think he would be mentioned more.
Note: Bitter listed Holland at 6'4 so maybe the Wilford comparisons are legit.
Little shorter than holland but I like to compare to Mr. Punt Return/Speed, Andre Davis!
Welcome to your new family Kendrick!
The kid has mad skills...Napoleon Dynamite would be jealous
Although it was poor-technique tackling, I liked the strength and leg pumping he showed even when he has a defender or two hanging onto him. If he's that strong now, imagine what a year of Gentry will do for him.
And to think, a couple years ago, he would have been moved to O-line within 20 minutes of signing his LOI.
I know and he is 6'3" 195 now.
I see this kid has a lot of upside. He is not playing his best ball yet. I like the comparison to Boykin, he has great hands, can catch at the highest point. I see him requiring more than one defender to bring him down. He has blocking in his highlights, that's cool. He likes to use his size advantage, he is definitely not afraid to take a hit. When he is brought down he falls like 3 yards. He can stop change directions and avoid a tackle. I like him.
Welcome to the family.
My initial impression:
Great size. Very good hands and great at going up and getting the ball at its highest point. Speed is good but doesn't appear to be elite. Not amazing quickness, but as a large target he can out leverage defenders on shorter routes. Very few routes other then simle vertical ones. Prob a system flaw, but does make you wonder how capable a route runner he is. Not saying he's bad at running routes, just no evidence of polished route running.
Very excited about his potential. Fits in really well with what loeffler wants to do. If he is explosive running his routes, will have a really good career at tech
Your initial description sounds a lot like a former receiver, Boykin.
So how would you rate our 4 WR commits from best to 'least best' (dont want to sound negative!)
Javon Harrison
Jaylen Bradshaw
Cam Phillips
Kendrick Holland
????
Harrison
Phillips
Holland
Bradshaw
Its crazy (or awesome) that you have Bradshawlisted last. He has been putting up some impressive numbers this year. This could be an amazing WR haul!
Yea, Bradshaw has been killing it this season. Definitely deserved that upgrade in his rating on 247. (Before the upgrade, he was ranked below a Long Snapper with no offers in the VA rankings. lol)
This is one of the best WR haul we've had in my opinion. Not only are all of them natural receivers instead of QB converts, but they all have great potential. I think Harrison starts day 1 but that's just my opinion.
This.
This recruiting class should put every current wideout on our roster on notice.
Attrition next Spring/Fall could be rough.
Kind of irrelevant but damn, outside of London's two gems.... his class is very meh.
Sort of like his whole program. On the surface, it has potential, but when you dig deep down it actually... Oh wait nevermind, it's just pitiful through and through.
Harrison will be the burner guy for us and Cam Phillips will be the possession guy for us. When we need a first down its going to Phillips. He will move up in rankings to as hes playing great football against good competition.
This is a good looking WR recruiting class. I like it a lot! I do like the guys we have right now as they are developing, especially guys like Byrn, Stanford, and Knowles and we will be deep at the position for years to come.
Ill take this kid, this is shaping up to be one big time class
Kendrick Holland just tweeted that Milford Academy is his "new home"
He was at VT, I believe it was academics here!
Does that mean he could still make it to VT at some point?
Yes. Right about the same time as Reavis and Drew Harris do.
2035 is gonna be a hell of a team.
And we won't have to worry about them getting in trouble for underage drinking
They'll really get after ya.
We have at least 3 WR recruits coming in that are better than Holland.
I took a look back at our commitment list on HokieHaven.com, and it looks like you might be on the money.
