Landers Nolley apparently did not even travel suit up for one reason or another. Unfortunate because he would have surely seen a lot of game time. Those 16 points from Isaiah Wilkins are a good sign. If either him or Kabongo can emerge as a legit backup guard worthy of even 10-15 minutes, that would be huge for our depth.

edited for clarity

Where did you see he didn't travel. I read he didn't take off his warm-ups, but he was there.

I could me mistaken, I'm probably reading too much into some tweets I saw. Some student writer on twitter said he didn't see Nolley anywhere on the floor in warm-ups. He mentioned Tyrece Radford was in street clothes so I thought he would have mentioned if Nolley was also not dressed. But I'm probably just reading too much into this dude

Gotcha, I thought I had seen he was there just not suited up.

He was there, but just has a nagging injury. Should be fine for the real games.

Makes sense, no point in risking him for a scrimmage. Thanks for the info

Nolley did not play because of a NCAA eligibility issue.

The Hokies also played without freshman forward Landers Nolley. Williams said Nolley did not play because of an NCAA initial-eligibility issue "that we're trying to figure out."

You can read more from, believe it or not, Mark Berman, here: Liberty Game Recap

The eve of basketball season is usually frought with some miserable piece of news or other.

How the he'll do we have an eligibility issue? It's November, he's been here since August.

I don't think it has to do with VT since midterm grades don't really matter for freshmen in the fall.

Oh great... If he can't play we are going to have major depth issues

If he misses a couple OOC games it's no biggie toward our depth, though it may hinder his development. We ain't playin nobody and Med is good for like 20 ppg. We need him for ACC in Meds spot.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

It's a problem because we are (at least temporarily) without our 2nd and 3rd tallest players and we already had a major height issue. Those Charleston Classic games against legit competition are fast approaching.

Can we just give the NCAA whatever transcripts UNC uses and call it a day?

Landers Nolley not playing is a big deal without CC on the roster.

Could CC not being on the roster be reason enough to have Landers Nolley not playing in an exhibition game?

Good...no, GREAT start.
EDIT: not sure why someone would downleg a comment praising the team's exhibition victory 🤔🤔

Yay, we won an exhibition game.

Not a joke. The season officially starts on Friday against Gardner-Webb.

Sorry to waste your time. Though some people might want to see how our team is gonna stack up this year

Sorry, I guess that came through a bit harsh. Glad we won convincingly, but I'm sure that the minutes and matchups were shuffled a lot more than if it were a normal game, since it was an exhibition game that didn't matter for anything.

Your good, you never know what things can stand out in a game even though it is an exhibition.

How did we look without CC? Did we look good in the areas of the game where we have relied on Clarke, such as on the glass, or pushing the ball in transition? My biggest fear about missing CC is that the team will play a slower tempo, more halfcourt-focused game.

We outrebounded them, it was a pretty sizable margin too. They said we would see more full-court pressure to try and get some turnovers early and have a lower amount of time playing the half court defense once they get across half court. Alexander- Walker was all over the rebounds today

I think Robinson, NAW, and Bede can all run the fast break well enough.

This whole being excited about hoops season thing is neat.

We were behind by 1 after the first half. Blackshear's points were mostly from the foul line. If you are 6'11", dunk the damn ball. Ahmed started off fine and had a couple misses, turnovers and looked flat frustrated in the first half. Don't think we have to worry about NAW heading for the NBA, but he will be serviceable. Outlaw was .... there. Bede did ok as a sub. He doesn't shoot but handles the ball ok. Kabongo, eh? Looked nervous. Game balls to JRob and I Wilkins. (I really liked Wikins). Probably will be our 6th man. Not as much energy without CC. Really sad. Going to miss Bibbs. Going to miss the show and miss Buzz after this year. Gig'em.

This is an incredibly pessimistic take for a 16 point win in a scrimmage....
