Montrazl stock was rising after his last game and I guess he bought the hype. Guess we will start from scratch. People will now be questioning the Johnson hire. My main concern is if he adopts Greenberg's ahem offense. If Johnson does not pan out there will be a lot less drama when they cut him loose. JW will then have to open up his wallet and pay for a proven coach.
His coach said he was a man of integrity and a man of his word..
I guess not.
Come on, let's be real for a minute. He's going to college to play hoops, who has the better program: a transitioning Tech or defending national champion Kentucky (where I think he'll end up)? He had a tight relationship with Seth, Seth is gone. In part, he gave his word to play for that coach, not James Johnson. I went to Tech as a CS major, if 4 months before I enrolled they canceled the program I would've probably looked elsewhere, because I wouldn't have known any of the things I've come to love about the school.
I wanted him to stay, but questioning the integrity of a kid looking to start his adult/professional life off on the right foot is silly.
All this means
Is JJ must develop Eddie and Barksdale into the SF/PF combo that can play at an ACC level. It's a tough situation, and injuries would really hurt this team, but the cabinet isn't bare. JJ's ability to recruit will be scrutinized, and deservedly so. We'll what kind of recruits he can lure in 2013 & 2014. If he has success recruiting, nobody will care about Harrell and DFS.
All this really means
Obviously depth will be a major issue in 2013. At guard we'll only have Erick Green, Robert Brown, and Marquis Rankin. Jarrel Eddie and Marshall Wood - - who reminds me of a more athletic AD Vassalo with a worse shot, although his J is suprisingly smooth - - will have to be extremely versatile swing players. Cadarian Raines and CJ Barksdale simply cannot get hurt, and need to be in the best shape of their lives considering the minutes they will play. Joey Van Zegeren needs to contribute, play defense, and track down rebounds.
All in all, I think it's a suprisngly talented team, although with only 8 players we will obviously wear down, which makes me wonder if we'll play more zone defense. Losing out on Harrel really does sting considering our depth problems. If anyone gets hurt, this team could be almost sad/funny to watch...
BUT, on a positive note, this allows JJ and his pretty good staff to recruit the hell out of 2013. We'll have needs everywhere, and have the numbers to sign a large class.
Losing Harrel is not a suprise, or a reflection of JJ. Bottomline - attrition happens when coaches get canned. JJ needs to start focusing on the relationships his new assistants have and haul in a great 2013 class.
At least we know why he left, we just couldn't offer him what Louisville was.......
During another party, Rod Ni Powell, 22, another daughter of Katina's, said she was paid to have sex with former Cardinals player Montrezl Harrell, a power forward, who now plays for the Houston Rockets. Katina Powell told Outside the Lines and wrote in her book that Harrell, who played with Louisville from 2012-15, had sex paid for by McGee as a recruit and as a player.
"Montrezl was there, and I don't know, I guess he felt left out. He just kind of asked me if I would do it, and I did it. I got paid maybe $100, maybe a little more," Rod Ni Powell said.

I suspect that situation is resolved now.

I was waiting for someone to post about this. Call me old-fashioned but I'm ok with not using strippers and hookers as recruiting tools. Now that Montrezl is in the NBA, he can have all of it he wants.
Lamar Odom can show him the way...
I'm not happy that he almost killed himself, but certainly he has made some bad decisions to get himself to the place he is in now. Hope he recovers.
Remember, VT will recruit much better in football once Frank is gone....
I wonder how much not having strip clubs in BBG impacts our recruiting.
