Austin??

Say what???

http://www.burntorangenation.com/2013/10/23/4987356/the-nick-saban-to-te...

This is an interesting subject considering the rumor that surfaced about nine months ago that Saban's agent met with Texas' regents to discuss a $10 mill annual comp package.

You might be asking why Saban would consider making such a move. How about in no particular order -

* the money
* Texas' athletic facilities
* recruiting in Texas
* the Austin geographic area which beats the heck out of Tuscaloosa
* be the first coach to win the NC at three different schools
* a huge win-starved booster organization willing to do anything to win the next NC
* did I mention the money?

He will coach in Texas, but it will be working for Jerry Jones.

I've always thought that is a perfect match. Saban wasn't bad in the NFL and wants another shot.

I disagree. Nick Saban and Jerry Jones could never coexist, no matter how much money was involved.

One control freak can't work for another.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

But would be a perfect way to pull a Jimmy Johnson. Come in, win a few, retire with more money than anyone cares to know and go into a cushy tv job.

Nick Saban on TV though? He doesn't look like TV would interest him.

Also, Jimmy Johnson left Dallas because of Jerry Jones. For that matter, so did Bill Parcells (as rumor would have it).

I would think he could do 3 years for $25 mil or so...

These rumors come up with so many coaches so often. I remember hearing rumors that Urban Meyer was looking for houses in State College.

Rip his freaking head off!

Maybe it's just somewhere to live in the offseason. Doesn't make sense, but Saban can afford it. Sean Payton lives in Dallas in the offseason.

In other news if Saban coached the Cowpies I think that would be the apocalypse right then and there.

Maybe the his wife was just helping his daughter house hunt? Besides I don't think Saban's agent met with Texas, he just had a phone call if I read the other articles correctly.

I wouldn't bother reading too much into this...if/when Saban leaves Alabama that's when we should discuss it. Until then, don't waste the energy. I seriously doubt he would leave but we'll see what happens...

Onward and upward

I highly doubt Saban would leave Bama for another college job..he would only leave for the NFL. He doesn't need more money..he is the second highest paid coach in ALL SPORTS behind Coach K.

If he would decide to leave Bama it would be due to the fact that the NCAA would be ready to put them on probation or some sort of scandal..we have seen recently all the reports of players taking money who played for Nick.

People thought the reverse when he went to the pros - that he would never return to the college ranks. Well, Bama money talked then, and Texas money might be talking now.

I think he's really just building his legacy at Bama at this point.

He'll leave when he starts noticing the NCAA sniffing around more than usual.

Yup, they should be looking already. He already suspended a player for borrowing money this season.

But given that the NCAA just got fitted for wooden dentures, the need to leave isn't as pressing as it was for previous instances like Carroll & Kelly...
He could have been getting his ducks in a row, just in case. After what happened at Miami (or didn't...) he is "safe" to stay without worry now.

I kind of don't hate the Longhorns, and I have 2 close friends who are diehard fans, but if Saban becomes the coach they will become the most annoying people I know

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

It could be that she's getting tired of little Napoleon's lack of dynamite and is leaving him...

If Saban leaves Bama, bet Dabo takes his place.

So, not going to happen? I know Dabo played for the Tide, but his HC pedigree isn't there yet.

I was listening to Colin on espn radio this morning. His take on this is that Austin is the location where rich people enjoy hanging out. He also pointed out other coaches that have homes in cities other then where they coach at..I tend to agree, buying homes in other places or even owning several homes is something wealthy people do..it's not a world many of us are accustom too.

I could see Satan, I mean Saban sitting there chuckling with his wife saying "Wait till they see where we are looking this week. Its gonna cause a shit storm"

I don't see him leaving Bama though. There is no reason to unless he is bored of being dominant.

Heard this story on the local sports radio station this morning. They seem to think (and I agree) that Saban will never come to Austin and that they are just looking for a "vacation" spot in Texas.
