Lady Hokies just completed an awesome comeback from 9 back in the fourth quarter to beat Villanova. Only shot 33% from the field and 37.5% from 3. Won it on the boards. Outrwbounded Nova 43 to 23. 61 to 59 was their only lead.

This moves the Lady Hokies to 6-0, and the second round of the UCF Holiday Tournament against Richmond (1-5) down in Tampa.
Lady Hokies moved to 7-0 with an 85-57 thrashing of the Richmond Spiders. Next up is Rutgers in the ACC-Big10 Challenge
How good can this team be this year?
Good enough to be top 10?
Well considering they have more talent than last years team that came within one game of winning the NIT tournament, I would expect an NCAA appearance this season. Before this weeks wins they were 31st in the AP based on their 5 votes. The Coaches poll has the team 42nd with just 1 vote. The win over Villanova should help with the rankings since they had more votes in the Coaches Poll than the Hokies. This is also a surprisingly light year for the ACC in terms of Top 25 teams, with only 5 teams ahead of the Hokies in the AP poll which could bode well for their ACC play which is where they kind of hit a wall last season. One area Coach Brooks really stocked up on was bigger, taller post players between transfers that are now able to play and incoming freshmen. Surprisingly though, he has been taking a page out of Buzz playbook, running four guards and a big at least to start most games. That said, 6th Woman, Trinity Baptiste, a 6' Forward that transferred from JUCO has been critical to the teams success, scoring 11.9 PPG and 8.1 RPG coming off the bench.
Villanova received votes in the coaches poll last week. So I definitely think we can be top 25. Top ten may be a reach. Megarrity and Baptiste can be a formidable pairing up front. Kendyl Brooks needs to shoot less or start making more shots. Dara Mabrey looks like she is going to be awesome. I guess I am talking myself into believing we might be good enough to make the top ten.
This team will get better. Alexis Jean (shoulder injury) will take some of those shots from Brooks and will help down low. She should be back soon.
