This how the University of Alabama has addressed Nick's dislike of fans leaving early. Would this work at VT? I think it would go over like a lead balloon.

Thats awesome that that is written into their Student Seating handbook. I also think its a little bit insane. Something like this though seems like it ends up punishing people in these organizations that do actually go to watch the game though
Stupid thing for Alabama to do. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out.
I think an incentive system would be better than punishment. The points system that was discussed on another thread forever ago is a better approach. Get points for attending sporting events and staying for whole games, etc to get good seats. It encourages participation rather than dropping the hammer. I think Alabama's system is a bad one.
Like free turkey legs for attendance!
Tank top dude knows what's up:
Since we have a "random" seating generator it would be harder to do what they do because it could be a random group of non-greek life friends. Plus they could be setting in another section with friends(if you were to look at the top parts south endzone for example). But I do love the idea to reward people I just have no idea how to do it. I wish they rewarded me with better seats for going to probably 98% of Mens basketball games during my 4 years (check which tickets registered to who scanned in and get them better student season tickets the next year).
Actually think it's not a bad thing for them to do. They got some bad pub after the article on Georgia football fans not showing up. Makes them look bad, and enforces the value of that ticket. Empty seats look bad on tv. Ask Miami n LOLUVa. At least it is written in the handbook and not out of left field. And, typically they would flow in bunches within that organization. I'm sure if some of the fraternity or sorority leave, 75% is going (or late) too.
I love this. If you get block tickets and don't go that's bullshit. I'm in favor of, 1 rst time you get a suspension, 2 times you lose your right to buy block tickets forever. Give tickets to people that want to be there.
Don't make rules (or laws) unless you are willing to enforce them, don't break rules (or laws) unless you are willing to suffer the consequences. Alabama's actions against those student groups are totally justifiable, and hopefully they will learn their lesson and be the faithful fans that their agreement obligates them to be. I live and work in a country where the laws are not enforced, and you don't want to be there, unless you like chaos.
I respectfully disagree with Bamy's method regarding this (to a certain extent).
Similar to Maryland's "reminder" to the students for attendance this weekend. Be in your seat before the first timeout. And stay until the end of the game to support the team.
I agree with them revoking some student organizations block seating. If you have an agreement with the school that your group will attend and be in these seats, and then you don't use it, why should those seats still be reserved for you? Other people would most likely want them and use them.
As for the average joe at the game? They paid for the tickets, they can come and go as they please, although personally I think they should support the team and stay.
