Miami sanctions leaked

I'd imagine that Joe would want to announce this but I'm seizing the opportunity. (muhahahaha) Apparently the Miami Herald leaked that Da U will lose three football and one basketball scholarship(s) per year for three years and interestingly enough, no bowl ban.

You can find the rest here.

So they got the $EC treatment?

What I imagine re: bowl ban is that they got a 2 year post-season ban counted as time served through self-punishment.

Pretty light on the scholarships, but considering what a media circus this has been they probably just wanted to end it

It's NCAA putting their heads in the sand because they bungled the entire investigation.

Yes it is, and that's a shame.
After seeing this, and how they've done nothing with UNC, and very little in the $CAM case, why would you follow the rules? Just find a sugar daddy booster(s) and just have at it. Complete joke.

There's also a loss of 1 scholarship for the Basketball team, former Head Coach Frank Haith, currently at Mizzou, is suspended for 5 games, and former football coaches Clint Hurtt (currently at Louisville) and Aubrey Hill are given 2 year show-cause penalties. It's actually nice to see that they went after the coaches who supported this stuff rather than hurt the players for actions before they were there. I don't like Miami, but I agree that the coaches were the ones at fault here.

Strip club abortions paid for.
Prostitutes provided for the whole team.
Kellen Winslow Jr crashed a fucking jetski into a yacht.
Countless kilos of blow on the nightly Coral Gables cocaine buffet.

And this is what they get. Man, I bet USC fans are really REALLY fucking pissed.

Ohio State fans are probably pissed as well.

Ohio State fans got off light. Their players were even allowed to play in a bowl game after the sanctions were handed down.

That was pre-Meyer, but the point is probably still valid.

What an absolute travesty all around. Millions of dollars funneled into the program and all sorts of illegal and reprehensible activity, and all they get is the loss of some scholarships. Miami was in line for the death penalty, but the NCAA is so inept that it took far too long and involved bad practices, so the Canes gets a pass. Disgusting on every level.

All the more reason I hope we piss in their Cheerios come Nov. 9. I want to see a clean program demolish a dirty one.

Made this over a year and a half ago, still applies.

Thanks for asking. Feel free to use but please give credit.

I wonder if the kids in college right now even know what a slap bracelet is?

Congrats, Miami. Too bad you again won't go to the ACC Championship, because we win the Coastal

I bet if the weren't ranked in the top 25 they would have had a bowl ban.

Stick It In...Stick It In...Stick It In!

They held themselves out of bowls for 2 consecutive seasons but think about what bowls they would have been in:

2011: 6-6
2012: 7-5

They would have been in garbage bowls, if at all. I guarantee you that if they were 10-2, and had an opportunity at a BCS bowl they would have been there. That is why it bothers me that they don't have a bowl ban--after several schools have received the post season ban, Miami walks away because they had self-imposed bowl bans...NCAA is inept.

Didn't they also hold themselves out of the ACCCG last year?

3 way tie with UNC and GT...but I don't remember the circumstances of who should have been in the game regardless of the bans.

I think it went UNC-Miami-GT. I might not remember correctly, but UNC couldn't go, Miami passed, and GT was given the go-ahead. Can't recall if Miami was 'first' or not, but I seem to recall something about UNC calling themselves the Coastal champions last year...

I think you're right.

"Exit light..."

They had to do something without looking completely incompetent.
The retro-active bowl ban served just this. And the minimal scholarships will mean very little in the big picture moving forward. Their standing this year had no affect on the sanctions.

And Miami fans all over the world (mainly Miami) are shooting their guns into the air as celebration.

Da U is back in da postseason! Lol
