So a buddy of mine has a good source in the program and stated that Eric Kumah and Damon Hazelton were in an Uber wreck. Apparently got pretty banged up and may not be a go for the bowl game.

I'd rather them get well instead of playing in a meaningless bowl game. Get Tre, Grimz, Keene etc some reps.
and Philthy Phil
I'm glad to see this nickname catching on......
Winning this game is the difference between having the first losing season in 25+ years and not. So in that sense, it's not meaningless.
Definitely agree, we have the nation's longest running winning season streak. That is definitely something to be proud of.
No such thing as a meaningless game. If you don't care if you win then stay home.
But yes, health is more important even if it was a semi final game.
Wow, I didn't know Luke Fickell was moonlighting as an Uber driver. That hurts!
Get well fellas, if true.
Sad if true but not something you can really do much as a program to prevent a freak accident like that unless you lock the guys in a room. Reminds me of when Exum blew out his knee playing pickup basketball.
Or when Vince Hall hurt his knee during a bowl event, at the beach before the OB vs Kansas.
[ mod edit: fixed embed ]
what ever image you included doesn't show up for me.
Edit: now it works
What browser are you using? For some reason, .webp is not a universally-recognized file format by many browsers, and yet it still seems to be growing in popularity.
Chrome on a mac.
Ah, I was confusing it with a different comment I saw recently. This one must've just been a failed embed.
WebP, which is usually the image/video file type that causes my Firefox to display a small error box, is being developed by Google. But that's not the case here.
I can't see it on safari either.
I fixed it. This was an instance in which the image URL (properly ending in .gif) appears to simply redirect to a webpage with that image embedded. Digging down to the actual image URL fixed it.
Isn't there a meta page that explains how to embed images, etc? I thought that the link was at the bottom of the page, but none of them appear to be it (I tried a search, for "meta", but it did a general internet search, not a search of TKP).
At first glance, one would think that the image was embedded properly. The URL ended in .gif, implying that it was pointing directly to the image, but that is not the case here. Several sites do that, tenor.com is one of them.
TL;DR - try not to leave broken images. If you enter the URL into the address bar and it takes you to an actual webpage rather than just an image, you can't insert that as an image into a comment box.
lol, I wasn't very clear with my question...
Earlier in the day, I wanted to embed a tweet. I know that I have to get the url from the tweet, but I didn't remember what to do with it after that, to get the tweet to show up and not just the url, so I went looking for the meta page that had useful info for things like embedding pictures and tweets. I could swear that someone provided it for me, in the past, but I don't find it in my bookmarks.
Yeah, I know that exists somewhere but I'm not sure if it was a forum post or just something within comments.
For tweets, there are two possible routes to embedding:
1. From the full twitter.com in your web browser: just click the dropdown in the top-right corner of the tweet, select "Embed Tweet" and just copy-paste the HTML it gives you. No TKP magic.
2. From a mobile device: tap the same dropdown, but choose "open in web browser," then repeat the process in (1).
Thanks for fixing the "glitch". Didn't mean for a full sub thread to grow out of it ha ha
IIRC, it was in the thread that had TKP "definitions" and inside terminology (e.g., the origin of "Dragon" for Deshawn McClease).
I thought Travon M. was Dragon.
My bad. I was having a senior moment.
See, this is the reason that I need that thread.
There goes my hero's😢😢
"Watch him as he goes"
...there wasn't even an awning in their direction.
How could our support staff allow this to happen?!?!? I'm sure the blue bloods have personal chauffeurs for every player.
Give. It. A. Rest.
You posting stuff like this hurts the program that you supposedly care about.
He's making a joke
I get that, and I may have overreacted, but there are plenty of people on here that don't think it's a problem and make fun of those that say it needs to improve. OP may or may not be one of those people, so I apologize if he isn't, but there is definitely a decent sized contingent on here that think we can compete at the highest level as our program is currently constructed.
Echoing off LAHokie's post. Alabama football had revenue of $108m in 2017. Va. Tech had a total of $87m as an athletic department. We have a long way to go to break into the blood bloods.
Not sure I want that.
Alabama's financial muscle in football is "cripp"ling the college football landscape
For the record and given what I know, I think our support staff does a great job with the resources available to them. My post was more poking fun at the chicken little's this off-season who thought for some reason that our support staff was systematically dismantling our team. I agree there are improvements that could be made, but many of those start with more people donating so additional resources come available.
TL;DR shoulda had a /s
Lmfao. Imagine thinking a post on a forum actually hurts a football program. Man too many of yall must think way too highly of yourselves to think anything we say actually matters.
No kidding...If someone thinks that post hurts our program, imagine what the game threads for odu, pitt, & gt did to our program this year.
5 Star Recruit: I'm going to commit to Virginia Tech!
Friend: Did you see what an anonymous poster said on a random Virginia Tech website?
5 Star Recruit: Shit, I guess I have to commit to 'Bama now.
A different Hokie site blamed French for a player not committing.
Is it because the recruit fidnt like his stance on cheese? Cause I'm with the recruit in that case.
A recruit has to balance between academics, coaching staff, playing time, culture (both team and university), proximity to home, scheme fit, bagmen, co-eds etc. when they're deciding which school to attend. You have to be batshit to think French has any sway on a 17-year-old.
Now a kid that's already on the roster, I could see French having an effect a la Jayson Tatum watching Kobe Bryant breaking his game down on Detail.
Not to minimize your list of variables but for a 4 or 5 star recruit there is one thing on the scales and that's a shot at the NFL. For 3 or lower the equation changes. We have already determined that our recruiting issue is with 4 star or higher (i.e. NFL talent) recruits.
Edit: F-Autocomplete.
People say the most vile stuff of twitter at recruits and there are never any repercussions. I think we are safe on this forum to voice opinions.
I think that we should post on here with awareness that friends and family of players and staff read this stuff. I also think that a significant portion of the most dedicated fans and donors read this, so our posts have a small effect on the moral of Hokie nation.
Disclaimer: I am one of those that "think to highly of ourselves" because I know for a fact that the shirt I wear on game day or how loudly I yell from the top of section 33 effects the outcome of games.
My thoughts are about posting in general. I think that 48's post that started this side conversation was totally appropriate. But I don't think that we should post every thought we have and I stopped opening vent threads a long time ago.
Lmao. Dude. No one cares what we say. Players read all sorts of stuff online on many different forums. TKP is no different. What you say on here is irrelevant and has no consequences for the VT program. Lol, yall are too funny.
Fuck. Sucks to hear that they're hurt, but I'm glad they came out ok. Heal up, boys! Got some work to do next year!!!
Hows the Uber driver?
God damn Maryland drivers! /No s
VT Men's Basketball: "Who can we take this out on?"
UMES: *hires bus to upcoming opponent Florida A&M, citing player safety*
Who will Willis stare down then?/s
Came here for this very reference. Leg.
Back to the offseason....
Of all the random bad news that has happened this season, this is the most random. I really hope they're okay. Injuries suck, but they happen and should only happen on the football field.
Better call Saul.
Shit. Did you guys know Haz and Willis were roommates?
Nope
Yes. The highlighted it during the ND game as he defaults to Hazelton at times (or did early on)
Is the ND game the only one you watched this year? They mentioned it about every 3 minutes in every game.
I hate driving in DC more than just about anything on this planet. This news is very much not changing my opinion.
Need Patterson to actually hold onto the ball and Tre to play like a senior.
Not good. On another note, anybody know if QP can play in the bowl game? He didn't play against UVA or Marshall, right? So he only played in 3 games I believe and should have one left while not burning his redshirt. I'm just not sure if the rule applies differently to bowl games.
Yes.
yes he can play.
edit: in reply to dmcross
I call gamesmanship. Can't wait to see Kumah and Hazelton lining up and the cinci DC pissing his pants on the sidelines...
Or maybe the Uber driver was a Cincinnati plant.
Did he say when the accident was? Not calling BS but Kumah was fine Thurs night.
I think the team was in DC last night, so its possible #MarylandDrivers
Bright side: it wasn't Rick & Hewitt
or Garbutt & Belmar
or Floyd & Deablo
or Farley & Watts
Lesson: if you're gonna lose 2 starters to a fucking Uber accident 🤦♂️, make sure it's at a position of depth? I guess?
Farley & Watts sounds like a solidly lucrative personal injury law firm in the third largest metro area of a state you rarely think of.
"We specialize in bump & run, slip & fall, and we don't play unless we win your case."
Garbutt and Belmar:
Quality Handmade Furniture since 1886
This name pairing could be its own post.
Edmunds and Edmunds and Edmunds, anybody?
Ashby Rivers quality living for when you are not ready to slow down.
Must be 55 or older.
I think they're OK, and should play. (chalk it up to unsubstantiated rumors and all that)
Why do you think they're OK and it was a rumor?
Fuente will provide details on whether they'll play on Tuesday.
While somehow making it less clear whether they played
I love Fuente.
Program information is on a need-to-know basis, and we don't need to know.
If it helps win games, I'm good with it.
Hmmm a disinformation campaign. That might work if there were no film on them. It changes Cincy game planning in no way that I can think of. But whatever.
Not be picky but isn't misinformation vs. no information different? Misinformation was us changing the Hokies Sports website to list Chase Mumau as a punter. No information is what we get for injuries. One is meant to deceive the other is meant to deny information.
(Edit)The wrong fake punt, but still fun to watch:
Fake punts are never wrong. 😄
Unless the punter is a receiver. Then it could be wrong.
I will be so glad when this f—-ked up football year for the Hokies is over. Injuries expulsions and all the rest of this years bullshit is more than an old Hokie fan should have to suffer.
I asked Andy Bitter on Twitter. He responded saying that they were in pads and practiced today.
and you waited til the thread end for the reveal?
are you the uber driver?
Do we have any evidence outside of the OP's sauces, to confirm that this even happened? Seemed like UC or VT beat writers would have reported something, by now.
This is the internet. People can post whatever they want without sauces or repurcussions if they're wrong.
