I can't imagine the defense would have struggled as much if he would have been back for his junior year. I am glad Hokies are able to go pro early and succeed, but the early losses of talented players is part of the reason it always feels like 2 years from now will be our year. If Tremaine and all the guys that went pro early in the Fuente era were to have played out their full 4 years I think we would have won the coastal each of the past 3 years.
I agree that players leaving early is one of the reasons that it always seems like we are 2 years away. However, I think this also points to the overall difficulty in recruiting depth and the challenge of not having a drop off or 'attrition' year when those players make the decision to move on. I don't know of an easy fix for developing that sort of depth based on our past history on the recruiting trail and the current mix of players coming in. We are in the doldrums and just need to keep working.
I couldn't agree more. Tremaine probably had the biggest impact by leaving early. His ability to play sideline to sideline and gap fit was top notch.
Although we just went through a painful season, it is nice to know the guys who left early (Tremaine, Terrell, and Tim) are making an impact in the NFL. Nothing hurts more than having guys leave for the draft and be unsigned.
Attaboy Fe'Zahn! Only player in the league this year with 120 tackles, 12 passes defensed, 2 sacks, 2 picks, 2 forced fumbles (h/t to my guy Roomy Caleb for the stats)
So much love to Tremaine. Terrell is amazing too and here in Steelers country everyone loves him.
But Trey Edmunds SHOULD HAVE BEEN A LINEBACKERRRRRR
Agree 100% on Trey. Always wondered what he could have done on D.
Great player, great kid (yes still a kid) and well deserved. Hope he continues to have success!
