Torrian Gray back as DB coach at Florida

For those of you that wanted him back, and also to those who said he wouldn't return to college football. This coupled with the news that Wiggins is on people's radars makes me wonder what, if anything, we're doing about coaching staff changes.

The longer it goes, unfortunately, the longer I think no changes are made (no sauces gut feeling).

Nix needs to get it in gear and learn Foster's defense.

Downvote this if you want, but I'm getting real sick and tired of comments like this. It is making us look like a bunch of spoiled children who were told no for the first time in their lives.

I disagree.

I agree 100%, we aren't good. I just know others were clamoring for changes earlier this winter, and wanted to add my opinion. Am I wrong for that?

VB born, class of '14

Yes.

I mean your opinion is wrong. You're not wrong to have one.

Lmao, this is so damn dramatic.

Sorry if I think the constant calls for someone, anyone to lose their job because the team managed to only make a bowl after losing its starting QB in the opening games needing to rely on a walk on transfer from the worst P5 football program in the country is more than a little bit of a bad look for a team nationally lauded to be great spot for coaches because of the reasonable expectations and patience of it's fans.

Hey man. Dont apologize for being dramatic. You do you.

I fail to see what losing our starting QB has to do with a weak secondary and a secondary coach who fails to adapt to Buds scheme. Also, looking at JJ's stats compared to Willis they weren't that much different.

"GO BACK TO YOUR ROOM LITTLE BROTHER, THE CUP IS COMIN’ ON HOME!”

Not wanting teams to set offensive records against you is unrealistic? Having dbs that can fundamentally tackle is unrealistic? Ryan Willis has nothing to do with our secondary, ie Nix and Mitchell, looking lost this year. That includes our upperclassmen

That includes our upperclassmen

Did we have any of those?

Like the whole thread isn't.

Oh how I hate Florida.

Seems logical to me. The longer we go with nothing happening, the more likely it is that nothing is going to happen. However, there do seem to be credible stories that changes are going to happen; although they might not be initiated by Fuente.

Doesn't matter if it's cake or pie as long as it's chocolate.

Meaning Coaches will leave on their own for other jobs or something else?

I'm surprised he came back to the college ranks, but not surprised he didn't land @ VT.

We have a coach that has a lot of issues with the personalities of others

Saban is our coach???

Gray was destined to return to Florida. A bit of inside #sauces, but his family never even made the move to DC - this was the move he wanted to make.

Good for Torrian. Since he's not our coach, that's about all the time I will be thinking about his new coaching position.

There was a non-zero chance that Torrian would come back to VT with Fuente as the HC.

Unfortunately for us, that non-zero was a negative integer.

In linguistic terms, that's roughly similar to the difference between "No", and "Oh Hell No".

Torrian would come back to VT with Fuente as the HC Foster as DC.

FIFY. For what it's worth, the issue isn't Fuente.

Don't know why you and Beaver_Hokie are missing the narrative here. Everything is bad and it's all Fuente's fault. If the assistant coaches stay, then they are garbage and Fuente is loyal to a fault. If they leave, then they are a rising star in the coaching ranks and Fuente asked them to take a pay cut and spit in their face while doing it.

Obviously Fuente is a sleeper cell head coach tasked with destroying Virginia Tech football from the inside.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

He also doesnt know how to use running backs - but dont look at stats, theyll tell you opposite, go on gut alone.

Also, the defense is really bad and his influence on Bud has caused Bud to forget how to coach and has nothing to do with having one of the youngest most inexperienced defenses in the country

Also, the program is going down hill since he took over, again stats are misleading, so dont look at them, nor wins or loses since he came here

Also he cant recruit and recruiting rankings matter more than actual wins and loses on the field, again stats are misleading and actual wins and loses of top 10 recruited programs vs top 30 recruiting rankings dont matter, so dont actually look it up

Also, he doenst have an understanding of our DLine depth so Trevon getting dismissed was being rash and not a player in a pivotal role being out of line

Also, he should hire tutors and get these kids more classroom support, and dont look up graduation rates and grade point averages of the football program because that would be misleading and destroy the argument

Also, Dabo Sweeney

Also, every star player who has chosen another team over VT in its history all falls on Fuentes shoulders.

Further and to summarize, all previous mentioned players who were big time 'misses' for the program all performed significantly better than anyone that committed to Virginia Tech in the same class at the same position - also, dont look that up.

I didn't mean to blame Fuente at all. I'm certainly not intending to agitate against him. I'm just saying that TG wasn't going to come back here while Fuente is head coach.

I don't blame anyone for it. It just is.

Torrian would come back to VT with Fuente as the HC Foster as DC.

I'm really confused by this statement. Are you saying there was a rift between Torrian and Bud, or that Torrian would only come back as Defensive Coordinator, not as position coach?

β€œYou got one guy going boom, one guy going whack, and one guy not getting in the endzone.”

the word on the boards is that Bud and Torrian did not see eye to eye the last couple years of Torrian's time here.

I don't know how much of that is true insider perspective or just people spooling up over the weird shit that Gray was doing his last couple years on the recruiting trail... recall that Gray was doing things like ignoring prominent in-state DB's, ignoring a visiting 5-star CB's family, offering marginal players like Joe Kane without consulting the DC or DL coach...

offering marginal players like Clay Dean without consulting the DC or DL coach...

I agree with your post and recall some fans being upset with Gray (especially in the wake of the "didn't say hi to mom" story from Kevin Toliver) but just wanted to clarify that it was Dean and not Kane in this instance.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.
