"Ugh" - HokieNation, Winter 2018 - Spring 2019
It's obvious the program is in a bit of disarray (slightly under exaggerating that one), but there's still some positive things going for this program. And quite FRANKly (see what i did there ;)?), Hokie fans are accustomed to an incredibly stable program. So, Tech likes the number 25, right? Well here are 25 reasons it's all gonna be okay (somewhat satirical):
1. Dax Hollifield is really good. He's a leader and energy guy at a position that leads the defense.
2. Dalton Keene is as productive of an H Back as you can ask for in modern college football. And he has sweet hair.
3. We still have Bud Foster.
4. The secondary can't get worse. They may have struggled but experience is a heck of a teacher, and Farley is one of the best athletes Tech has had for a while.
5. Linebackers are returning. That 2017 defense is proof that when you have experience at LB, you can stop pretty much anybody.
6. Houshun Gains will be back....eventually, probably in late August/September.
7. Even without Kumah, the WR core is second best in the ACC.
8. Jaden Payoute.
9. Keshawn King.
10. Devon Hunter will be a playmaker. Somehow, someway. Either RB or Whip.
11. A QB battle is a good problem. QP has all the potential. And no one will play harder than Ryan Willis.
12. The O Line is still a strength of this team.
13. Ausie Ausie Ausie! OY OY OY! Yeah Oscar Bradburn is cool.
14. Vance Vice is killing it on the recruiting trail. This is the best Tech has ever recruited the big boys up front.
15. The ACC will still be down next year.
16. We play 2 FCS schools, ODU. And Duke....
17. No more triple option! See ya never Paul Johnson!
18. The ACC Network will really, really boost revenues for the program.
19. 7 home games also really helps revenue, about $2 million per game is the usual number.
20. Virginia Tech still dominates Duke and Carolina.
21. 15 Straight....
22. A bowl streak may be kinda lame, but Tech still owns that.
23. The leaves in October and November I mean...c'mon.
24. Class of 2020 has potential to be really special.
25. At least you're not a Louisville fan.

FTFY
:-D
Edit: Oh it's the colon.
stop staring at his colon!
I fixed it! But seriously, with Duke's home attendance do they even qualify as an FBS? Didn't that used to be a rule for entering FBS? Someone fact check me.
You left out the most important one, NO ECU!!!!!!!!!!
#17 can not be emphasized enough!
I don't want to mess with the numbering system, but there's also the possibility of a lot more cohesion on this team.
I got you
Sounds like a corporate sponsor of a bowl.
Welcome to the 2020 Football Game Bowl sponsored by Cohesion.
Thank you for this! It is getting washed down the tracker with the #ItStartsNow post, but when things look bleak, remembering all of things you have to be grateful for can be good medicine.
10. Devon Hunter will be a playmaker. Somehow, someway. Either RB or Whip
biggest hot take from this whole thing! Devon Hunter is legit a BEASTMODE running back and McClease was never going to see another carry. Holston, wheatley, beck, and king will be entering the transfer portal this week too. because Fuente finally got HIS GUY at RB.
I opened this planning to remain pessimistic and grumpy, but this list actually really cheered me up.
Great post.
#25 should be no more ECU.
#25 should be the return of the "Superstitious 25 Leg Posts"
I'm not sure if people actually enjoyed that, but I can definitely put something together on weeks leading into games where we have a sense of unease to help calm the air....
Plus... it worked...it's practically science... we beat UVA because of it I'm pretty sure...
Agree with most of this, but your #7 is hype/speculation and not production to date. And number 8 and 9 are "young" at best and have never played college ball- and that is an issue with this coaching staff thus far. Their "young" guys struggled historically on defense last year. Devon Hunter not getting burn on the worst defense Foster has ever had is also a huge, huge concern.
The Hunter situation doesn't sit well but is also not a major red flag for me. Both safety spots had some experience coming back and if Hunter wasn't ready we could afford to RS him rather than waste a year with him playing ST. I get he is physically ready for D1 ball, but the past year defense already had enough DBs out of position, didn't need Hunter doing the same. I hope it all clicks in the offseason and he grabs a starting spot for 2019 though.
(jaden payoute)
Unfortunately as a student I saw Dalton Keene a couple days ago....he cut is hair off.
Maybe he thought he would cut off the tainted dirty locks from 2018 an start a new glorious Taco Bell fueled Wyatt Teller mullet for 2019
Yo I love the PWD cover by your handle
He has time to re--grow.... new season, new do
LETS GO
to another school!!!! oh wait wrong thread. /s
HOKIES!!!!!!
#9. I really like Keshawn King.
