Coach Beamer just said on @VT_TTL that Tech will never wear the all orange uniforms again. Then adds an extra "never" for good measure.— Andrew Allegretta (@AAllegretta) October 29, 2013

Do it. Maurice DeShazo agrees.

I think its moronic to blame the unis for the way we played against duke. I like the #AllOrangeEverything and I'm surprised Beamer would punish me because the offense (big surprise) cost us the game. I'm the least nostalgic person so some of the craziest uniform concepts appeal to me, and I bet you they do to recruits as well. I'm all about that crazy uniform combo lifestyle. They weren't even orange enough if u ask me...lol
to each his own. I personally did NOT like the orange for various reasons, the least of which being that we lost to Duke. I DID really really like our Black Unis that we wore against Boise State...we Lost that game too :( I don't know if we realistically would have seen the all black or all orange unis again had those two games ended differently.
I wonder which jersey we had on against JMU...
I think we actually wore all white..I seem to remember jmu being in purple
I've chosen to remember nothing from that day. All the bourbon I drank made sure of it.
Lol. Dude, no! No way. Orange uni's for VT suck. I'm sorry. You're my boy, but no.
+1 anyway for having the stones to say you liked em
haha...u know me man, and u know i'm all about that flash appeal. lol
I couldn't agree with you more on that. But I must say that at this point it's a mental block for the player. They have been worn in several disappointing losses (eg: UNC 09) and some sloppy wins (eg: GT 08). It's a lot like the dreaded green jerseys that Notre Dame used to wear.
Again, it has nothing to do with superstition, but I think it does creep into the players minds. It shouldn't happen, but it does.
And my last point: I was a kid when Tech used to wear the blaze orange jerseys in the early 90s and when I look at our current all orange uniforms I flash back to those times and shudder.

What did happen to Allegretta? There hasn't been a single interview with him on HokieSports since the debacle of the leaked film in preseason. Anyone know?
While I think they've done a decent job making orange components look good the last few years, all orange should never happen & I'd still prefer maroon & white with orange highlights all the time.
Case of locking the barn after the horses have already been horse-jacked...along with their treadmills.
I could've have told Frank this before the game. Too much orange upsets the balance.
A sad day indeed
When we wear all orange, we pull Clemsons.
I'm on board.
And we look like Clemson and I'm not comfortable with that. When I saw the uni's, that feeling of impending doom surged through me. I am not normally that type of guy.
Or worse...LOLUVAs
[shudders] now I need a cold shower from the sprinkler system at worsham field
I'm convinced that Duke thought they were still playing LOLUVA and just thought they were supposed to win!
That's great
I'm ok with this!!!
Sounds great to me, but I got a bad feeling this does not rule out Orange tops with white pants.
Oh yes it damn well does!
I have much less of a problem with that.
I believe that's the only uniform combination that we are undefeated in and it actually looks decent so I'm okay with that.
I really don't understand the hate red for all orange uniforms. Like I have said before our colors are maroon and orange. Now I am all about maroon but maroon is nothing w out the orange accent. When the leaves turn maroon and orange there is nothing more beautiful to the human eye. This being said there needs to the right mix of each color. I believe Nike needs to step in and do something about this.
Also don't blame the unis for a lackluster performance.
While I agree with you, if the team wasn't blaming losses on uniforms, they would have worn the all-black Pro Combat [Boise State game] uniforms again. Especially since Lester has noted multiple times that it is the favorite uniform of basically every visiting recruit.
Superstition is alive and well in the sports world, for fans, players, and coaches alike.
I love our black unis, the gray ones are pretty cool as well. I don't understand the mindset of our uniform decisions. We haven't worn maroon on maroon in a while. Unis bring in recruits.
If by a while you mean one month...
But yes, we would all love some #AllMaroonEverything.
I'm talking 2003 at home vs Miami, vs Texas a and m in the hurricane maroon on maroon. But I did love the combo of Hokie stone and maroon though.
The uniforms in this photo should be worn for the rest of time. Except maybe with the classic maroon helmet with orange outlined white VT symbol.
I really don't like the shoulder stripes. I thought they were temporary when we added them. At this point I think they're permanent
But racing stripes make you go faster.
I thought that flames were the ones that made you go faster
Sad GT fans in the background make me happy.
I'm really tired of alternate unis more than once a year..
All Maroon at home, all white on the road.. Simple and they're so clean looking.
^ THIS.
Alternate unis are fun when they aren't overused. The Phillies have a cream number with a blue cap/red brim that is ONLY used for home day games. It's cool to see it. If we only wore orange jerseys when we played in the Orange Bowl, that would be a cool tradition. Making up reasons to wear garbage still makes the combos garbage.
It's a shame it took this last game to get rid of them
Well, if we never do the all-orange thing again, at least some good may come out of the loss.
Question: Does Miami's all orange...
...contrast our maroon enough for us to wear all maroon when we play them?
That would be one hell of a sexy looking game...
Yeah it would
Isn't that considered a penalty now having both teams wear home jerseys? Didn't UCLA and USC do it recently to bring back an old tradition and one of the teams had to forfeit a timeout? But yes I agree with the post above, that would be one sexy looking game.
Only if they don't contrast enough I believe. The Bristol execs have already said for UT to wear orange and that they'd prefer VT to wear maroon.
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/arkansas-state-penalized...
Correct. It was Arkansas State vs Auburn this year that drew 15 yard penalties at the start of the game and after halftime because ASU wore gray which didn't contrast enough with Auburn's blues. USC and UCLA have brought back their color vs color lately with no problems, UT vs NCSt last year was color vs color, and if that orange and that red worked fine, there would be no problem with Miami in orange and us in maroon. It's probably a contractual thing at the discretion of the "home" team, however, which is why it showed up in our contract for Bristol. I would imagine that for a typical game, you would at least have to ask permission (if nothing more than a gentleman's agreement) to wear color as an away team.
Whoever does the uniforms/helmets is still doing a much better job than last year. But yeah no more Orange on Orange.
I could deal with orange pants and maroon jerseys in the spirit of the classic Redskins uniform - gold pants and maroon jerseys.
Exactly, I was never pro-orange (well, still wouldn't lump myself in that category) but I do think it looked good with the white lids. It just didn't really look like us.
Dude...careful...I'm Cherokee.
Sorry, no offense meant.
(There goes my shot at any upvotes.)
Its ok. Just tailor and curtail some of it.
