All I remember is how many different ways they chose to butcher his name, and how many picks Ke Fuller got. Anyone watching closely at his performance?
I think if I remember, Duke only had that one good receiver who Kendall covered most game--but I figured since Kendall was getting targeted so much, that must have meant Exum was doing a good job shutting his guy down. Will have to wait for french to get the final word.

Yep, Kendall was matched up on Crowder all day and did a great job. I think Duke only had something like 7 total completions, so our secondary did great, Exum included. Glad to see him back on the field doing his thing.

That's it right there, defense played stellar but they are still pissed. This is still a good team, but I think they bye week did them a disservice. They will bounce back against BC.

I was thinking about this, too. I remember seeing him on the field a lot, but I can't recall them talking about him at all, Did he play so well that they didn't throw his way?

Well, he must not have played badly, and no injuries so I guess it was a successful return.
I'm sure it gave him some confidence too.
What about Foster revamping his secondary and D-line and STILL shutting down Duke's offense?

I'm happy for Kendall but somebody might need to inform him that when the offense isn't doing squat, he needs to go Superman on that INT return and try for six.

We heard that Facyson might, but Exum's first game back, Facyson was dealing with a concussion. Maybe against BC we'll see some game Facyson on offense.

I did note Exum on the field and the movement coordinated and communicated between him and other Defenders lined up against WR on his side of the field.
The movement had to be confusing to the WRs. Who was covering and how, looking like they were going to get smashed at LOS then backing out 7 yards.
They shut down the passing game, it wasn't luck.

I could look this up myself but I would rather bring it up here...who was no. 19 on defense I guess filling in because kyle was out? Also I had to mute the volume watching the game, I could not stand listening to that announcing team. Anthony Exhume

We really shouldn't ever stop giving Torrian Gray credit. That's 3 true freshman corners who have played well this year. Clark is becoming a pretty solid gunner on special teams too.

Watched Chuck and Antone as much as I could from the stands. They both looked solid all game, although I didnt notice Duke try to specifically pick on either one of them. Exum was matched up on Crowder a couple times though and he did a good job.

It also seemed to me that Bud did a good job of putting them in positions to succeed as much as he could, which it seemed in turn left a lot of pressure on Kendall. Which went swimmingly. Kept thinking that Duke must not have done their homework attacking Kendall as much as they did. I kept wondering why they didnt try to get Crowder matched up on Exum or Clark instead, but what do I know.

Crowder was matched up a couple of times from what I noticed (I'm not the most observant, but it happened a few times). Seemed like he wasn't a primary read most of the time though.
I also noticed that Kendall seemed to be playing outside leverage most of the game. Is that the technique he's supposed to use at boundary corner?

I noticed the outside leverage as well, and my best guess is that he's supposed to be playing outside leverage and anticipating safety help over the top/inside.

That makes sense. Take away getting beat deep down the sideline and it gives the safety less ground to cover to help. I just hate giving up those short passes, but playing inside leverage on the boundary is risky. They caught on in the 2nd quarter as well. Boone completed a couple of short slant/in routes against Kendall because of how he was playing.

I was there and made it a point to watch Exum as well. Two things. (1) He looked much bigger than I remember...rehab's been good. He was bigger than any of the receivers lined up on him. (2) I'm pretty sure they didn't throw at him the whole game. He was money in press coverage, but often played well off the line.
Clark looked great at the nickel spot too! We are blessed at DB.

He wasn't targeted much, if at all, and he looked very good in coverage. But, he and the other defensive backs really struggled to get off blocks when Boone was able to get outside on the read option or when Jela Duncan broke a screen. The best part of Duke's offense was their wide receiver option stalk blocking. It was outstanding.

Very true. We all hail Bud (rightly so), but the defensive assistants are absolutely top-notch and they deserve a lot of credit, too.
The defense should have put up some points maybe we woulda won...damn defense not doing enough!
