I am not sure that I like that this news is being broken ahead of his announcement in the wee hours of the morning, but Grant Traylor (reporter in Huntington, WV and beat writer for Marshall football) has confirmed that Doug Nester will pick VT.
The almost top 100 athlete is a 4* composite and is a huge pick up for the Hokies.
The article linked in the tweet below sheds some light on how mature Nester was during the process. He also talks a lot about how much Blacksburg just felt right to him. I think it is definitely worth the read.

But seriously, this is a big win for us.
Gobbles Bigdoggly
We... we a big dog now? After that shitshow of a season?
Huh.
One season doth not a program make.
FTFY.
Even so, the joke is that before last season we lost out on some guys because "the big dogs came in".
Knocking on wood!
That's a BIG win...
This addition will likely make this class the highest rated class in school history by 247 average player rating.
Damn AAC coaches can't croot/s
ACC, too
Which is awesome... but a little bit of that is rank inflation
By average player ranking?
If anything, having a large class and the highest average player ranking is the best of both worlds here.
Well we are still outside the top25 so I guess he means inflation across the board?
Surprisingly, Kadum and Murray pull the average down, below last year's class
