Duh...
I get so damn discouraged when I read things like that. I even feel somewhat sorry for Coach Foster. I think of the powerhouse teams we could have had over the last 15 years or so, if we even had a top 25 offense. I read a stat somewhere last week,(cant remember where) but for the overwhelming majority of the last 15 years our offensive production has ranked consistently in the bottom 50% of all teams. THAT IS PATHETIC!!! While i do understand and know Beamers coaching philosophy and beliefs on what it takes to win games...........WHY CAN THEY NOT PUT SOME EFFORT INTO OUR OFFENSE??? I get sick and tired of hearing how we have a top 2 defense and a bottom 2 offense. You cant really argue with that!! .......jus' sayin'!!!!!
Texas A&M says there is nothing wrong with having a top 2 offense and bottom 2 defense.
True.......but they are scoring 40+ points/game. Its a little easier to win when you can score when you need to....
Texas A&M is the opposite of us in that they can score willingly but their defense only needs to keep the other team from scoring more. Our team though can't score willingly and needs the defense to keep the other team off the board entirely. A&M will play more shootouts than us because we will keep the score much lower and grind through them. So with your statement of "it's easier to win when you can score when you need to," it's also easier to win if your defense can keep the other team from scoring.
Being an offense only team is easier in football. You just have to score more and if you can score at will it's significantly easier to win than if you can stop scoring. It just comes down to that you can always score 3 or 7 points with a good offense for the lead, but a good defense can't take 3 or 7 off the board for the lead.
No but a good defense can put 2 or 7 points on the board as well. And that's called Beamerball.

I think Beamerball is better defined lately as returning punts for negative yardage and squandering opportunities for 3 points.
I love that most of it is teams mentioned and ours is the offense. It really has become comical that our offense can be this bad and yet show so much promise.
To be honest, I was kind of expecting the dreaded #5 spot for the Hokies this week. Glad we just got an (dis)honorable mention.
I think the offense has earned it
I thought it was all of VT that got the mention, but at least the guy who writes bottom ten recognized what was actually bottom 10 worthy
It was probably a fearful respect of Bud's defense that made it just an offense mention. Just like it was Sam Rogers that kept it dishonorable mention. "The O is turible...that fullback though...don't hurt me"
Not a huge surprise. We knew the offense would struggle this year.
