Last Chance Calling
Buzzketball has struggled dramatically with Justin Robinson out of the lineup. A dearth of offense complicated by turnovers, poor shot selection, avoiding shots, and just overall focus have derailed a once promising season that apparently hinged on a big toe. Now it's a rematch with the Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech, and the Hokies need to make sure they bring their focus to the game at hand as this may be one of the few remaining opportunities for the Hokies to find a win.
The Yellow Jackets have gone steadily downhill since facing the Hokies last, sitting at 3-8 in the conference with wins over Wake Forest, Syracuse and Notre Dame. Their losses have come at the hands of the Hokies, Clemson, Louisville, Duke, UNC, Florida State, Clemson a second time and revenge loss by Notre Dame. Seven of their eight conference losses have come by double digits. The only loss that wasn't was the Hokies squeaking by with a 52-49 win.
This will be the 26th contest between these two teams, with the Hokies leading the series 19-6, including 5-0 under Buzz Williams.

The national writers have started to wake up to how impactful Justin Robinson's injury is:
This from Rob Dauster on Yahoo Sports, with the most telling statement his last.
2. THE MOST IMPORTANT INJURY IN THE COUNTRY IS JUSTIN ROBINSON'S
On January 30th, in a win over Miami, Virginia Tech point guard Justin Robinson suffered a foot injury that has since left him on the Hokie bench during games wearing a boot and, on Saturday, using crutches. This is the same player that was averaging 14.4 points and 5.5 assists while shooting 41.1 percent from three. This the guy that put 35 points and eight assists on Syracuse four days before he was hurt and had 17 points in 19 minutes when he went down against the Hurricanes.
And as of now, we don't really have an answer for his status. Buzz Williams has not been forthcoming with information about Robinson's status, either on the record or off the record. Nickeil Alexander-Walker is the best NBA prospect on Virginia Tech's roster, but Robinson is their most important player, arguably their best defender and the guy that makes their offense run. In the three games that he's missed, Virginia Tech is 1-2 while averaging 54 points per game and just 0.931 points-per-possession. The one game they won came when N.C. State mustered just 24 points.
With Robinson, the Hokies are one of the best shooting teams in the country and among the nation's elite offensively. They are dangerous because of what they can do shooting the ball.
Without him, they are thoroughly average and do not have a point guard on the roster.

Georgia Tech is "Coached" by Josh Pastner who has managed to survive as rocky a tenure so far of just about any coach in basketball not named Rick Pitino. Pastner is in his third season with the Yellow Jackets, where he has led them to a 45-47 record with one trip to the NIT. His only previous head coaching stop was 7 seasons at Memphis, where he led them to a 167-73 record with five trips to the post season. That early success has not transferred to Georgia Tech with him. Early accusations, coaches forced to resign and other items have made it extremely hard for Pastner to recruit at Georgia Tech.
Defensively, Coach Pastner loves to use a pressure defense that forces opponents to use up shot clock to even advance to the half court. Once in the half court, the Yellow Jackets have used a variety of defenses, especially zone defense to confuse opponents so far this season. They will vary from a 1-3-1, to a 1-2-2 and also a more traditional 2-3 zone. Defensive pressure though is what they really focus on. They are top 30 in scoring defense, 3 Point % allowed, 2 Point % allowed, shooting percentage allowed and field goals allowed. This is a team that relies on its defense to make its offense go. Creating turnovers and limiting possessions is what keeps this team in games.
Offensively, Georgia Tech runs a constant motion offense but with more traditional size on the court than many of the 4 out, 1 in offenses the Hokies have seen recently. One thing Pastner does not like to hear is that his team is running, he insists his teams sprint, especially off the ball. They are not a prominent offensive team but playing slightly above average offense and exceptional defense is a good recipe for winning at this level. Prior to conference play, the Yellow Jackets were only averaging 18 attempts from outside, but in ACC play, with how they have struggled to stay in games, that number has dropped even further to 15 attempts per game. The Yellow Jackets have struggled all season, and are only shooting 28% from outside in conference play. They lean more towards transition scoring, and drives to the basket to create shots, where inside the perimeter as a team they are making 48% of their shots.
Yellow Jackets Backcourt

Jose Alvarado (#10) 6', 174 Lbs Sophomore Guard returns after a redshirt season due to injury to leads the Jackets in scoring and is averaging 11.7 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 3.3 APG and 1.9 SPG. He is shooting 28% from behind the arc and 38% overall. Alvarado is playing a team high 33 MPG.

Michael Devoe, (#0) 6'4, 188 Lbs Freshman Guard is the highest rated recruit that Pastner has brought in at #49 in last year's class. He comes in averaging 9.2 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 2.4 APG and 1.6 SPG. He is shooting 37% from outside and 43% from inside the perimeter. He is hitting 70% of his free throws as well.

Brandon Alston, (#4), 6'5, 195 Lbs is a graduate transfer from Lehigh University and is originally from Herndon, VA. He is giving the Jackets about 21 MPG while averaging 9.1 PPG, 1.9 RPG, and 1.2 APG but has durability issues that limit his time on the floor for the Jackets. He has suffered a torn ACL in one event and a damaged MCL in another that have limited two seasons. He does shoot the ball well, shooting 38% from the perimeter, 48% inside, and 84% from the line, so the Jackets really wish they could keep him on the floor more.

Curtis Haywood II, (#13) 6'5, 198 Lbs, Sophomore Guard is averaging 6.5 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 2.2 APG and 1.3 SPG, shoots about 28% from outside and 59% inside and 76% from the free throw line.
Yellow Jackets Frontcourt

James Banks III, (#1), 6'10, 243 Lbs Junior Forward Transfer from Texas is averaging nearly a double-double with 10.4 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.2 APG, and 2.5 BPG. He was approved for immediate playing by the NCAA rather than having to sit out a season. Banks is going to be difficult to deal with down low all game. Banks does not bother to shoot from outside but his interior scoring is at 55% while shooting 67% from the line.

Abdoulaye Gueye, (#34) 6'9, 208 Lbs Senior Forward, has seen his role increase dramatically in ACC play. He has nearly doubled his output compared to the Hokies last meeting. He is averaging over 25 MPG and comes in putting up 7.4 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 1 APG, 0.7 SPG and 1.1 BPG. He is shooting 52% from the field, and only 62% from the line.

Moses Wright (#5), 6'9, 210 Lbs, Sophomore Forward is averaging 4.9 PPG, 3.2 RPG, and 1 APG is shooting 43% from the field and a dreadful 47% from the free throw line.
Evan Cole (#3), 6'9, 211 Lbs. Sophomore Forward, has only managed to play in parts of sixteen games so far this season due to an ankle injury. This has given rise to Freshman Forward Khalid Moore (#12) 6'6, 200 Lbs getting more playing time this season. They have combined for 9 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1 SPG, and 1 BPG so far this season.
Sophomore Forward Jordan Usher either was ruled to have to sit out this semester or the decision was made to redshirt him this semester after coming in on transfer from USC. Usher was averaging 8.6 PPG, 3.7 RPG and 1 APG for the Trojans over 12 game before shutting down last semester.
What to expect from Georgia Tech?
The Yellow Jackets were a very disciplined team prior to conference play. ACC play has seen a dramatic rise in the number of fouls, turnovers and shooting opportunities for opponents Georgia Tech has allowed. Expect high energy with frenetic defensive intensity but it has not translated well in conference play.
Offensively, Georgia Tech is last in the conference in scoring, at 58.6 PPG. They are allowing opponents 67.1 PPG. Based on this expect to see the Jackets move with or without the ball, especially around the perimeter on offense and work to slow things down on defense. Pastner is a big fan of pick and rolls, and a high assist to basket ratio. This is still a work in progress with this team so the Hokies need to take advantage of this inexperience to force mistakes and change the possession game.
The Yellow Jackets rely on a rotation essentially of eight, with their starting five plus two bigs and one guard off the bench. Expect them to feed the ball down low to Banks and allow him to work with his back to the basket. Banks on Blackshear will be the matchup to watch most of the evening if Blackshear can stay on the floor.
Expect to see Georgia Tech switch defenses several times. I expect to see a 1-3-1 zone to start with unless the Hokies begin hitting perimeter shots. If the Hokies are hitting their shots than the Yellow Jackets will likely switch to a man to man defense or a high 2-3 perimeter zone.
The Hokies
The Hokies need to determine early what going inside is going to be like. The Jackets come in 10th in the country in blocked shots per game at 5.5. If the Hokies are not able to get the Jackets bigs off the blocks than they will need to focus on finding offense through their mid floor or perimeter shooting.
This is another heavy dose of zone defense, which poses a major problem with Robinson out. Nickiel Alexander Walker now will not be available to spend a majority of his time on the high post, forcing the Jackets zone to account for Blackshear on the blocks. This would collapse the zone inwards, allowing good open looks outside but Bede has not shown the ability to get the ball into the high post when he is controlling the ball at the top of the key.
That said, someone else will need to assume this role, likely Outlaw. The problem with that is it forces Outlaw off the perimeter passing rotation, which is where he contributes most of his offense. The one X-Factor that has shown he is able to help in this area is the freshman, Isaiah Watkins, on receiving the pass at the top of the key and distributing to Blackshear. If he can manage to come in and help with that, then it would greatly improve the Hokies offensive flow against Georgia Tech. It would also allow Outlaw to remain outside, giving him the chance at open looks to knock down his patented threes.
I would expect a slow ugly mucked up game throughout with both teams struggling offensively to find an identity. The Hokies really need to emerge from this confusion they have let settle in since Robinson's injury. This game needs to be a game of answers, not more questions. If they can find even a semblance of offense this game is a blowout. Last time out against Georgia Tech, the Hokies shot 29.8% from the floor, and an even worse 18.5% from the perimeter on 5-27 shooting. They have managed significantly better in the last two losses so hopefully they find a way to get the ball in the basket at even a mediocre rate.
Tech should aim to keep this game as high paced as possible because it is when this offense is at its most effective. They need to take advantage of transition basketball but not out of control. The bad, rushed passes after defensive stops have to be limited to allow the Hokies to build a solid lead in this contest.
Tech needs to be ready to utilize the baseline and the dribble drive pass to keep the ball in an open Hokies hands. Don't succumb to allowing the Jackets to clog the lane and then block shots over the top. NAW and Hill need to drive and draw contact without allowing the Jacket bigs to get their hands on the ball. Hill is shooting 85% from the free throw line so getting inside and getting shots or to the line is high percentage. NAW is only hitting 77% but if he shields the ball away and gets the bodies into these Bigs down low it could have a major impact on this game.
In Closing
The Yellow Jackets want a slugfest, especially with how many blowouts they have suffered in conference play. They are coming into Cassell having lost five straight, by a combined 79 points. They have only played in two conference games so far that were decided by less than ten points, but the Hokies represent half of that number.
The most critical thing for Tech in this game is energy from the start. Tech has to be in this game mentally right from the start. They should have a decent home crowd supporting them and have won 11 of 12 contests in Cassell so far this season.
This is a game that talent wise the Hokies should be able to run away with it. That's if they come to play 40 full minutes of basketball the way they are capable of even with Horne and Robinson out.
The pace of play and the ability to convert shots will determine this game. If the Hokies succumb to tired legs and allow this game to grind to a slug race, then all the advantages lean the Yellow Jackets way. If they can manage to keep the pace up-tempo and actually hit a decent amount of their shots than this game could be over before the legs become an issue late in the game. The Hokies have to find a way to win this game because the schedule does not treat them nicely without Robinson after this game. They will be on the road or facing a ranked opponent in five of their six remaining games.
Hokies find a way to grind out a win, 61-55.

I just don't see any more wins until JRob is back.
Nah...we'll beat the Ramblin' Wreck
Nah...we'llNAW will beat the Ramblin' WreckFTFY
Luckily it's on raycom, so nobody will be seeing anything
I think we win tonight, then lose everything else until 5 is back
You really think we'll close out the year 0-7 if he's (hypothetically) out for the regular season? I'd say 3-4. 4-3 if the ball bounces our way
Yes, based on what I've seen so far I actually believe 0-7 is a possibility. This team just can't score.
I unfortunately do not disagree. I will look closely at the contest with Pitt on the road to see if I think we can sneak that one but I don't see us winning any other games until maybe Miami comes to Cassell. We are limited to seven players so dead legs and players outside of their comfort zone against some of the best teams in the country are going to make even being competitive a tough challenge.
I agree that they should push the pace more, especially in transition. Buzz has determined that limiting possessions and slowing the game down is our best chance to win games without 5. Nobody knows the numbers and stats better than Buzz, but after the last 3 games, it feels like he needs to try something a little different.
I'm hoping he gives Bede the green light to push the ball in transition when the opportunity is there. Perhaps that would give Bede some rhythm and lead to a more comfortable and productive game from him.
We really need this game! A little surprised we're -12 with Robinson out, but I guess GT is just that bad right now.
I think Bede is going to have a good game tonight. I think with Buzz finally getting some time to practice and get back to the drawing board, he's going to make sure he puts Bede in the best position to succeed. I really think we'll see him more aggressive with the ball and start putting some points on the board.
I hope so. Bede did not have a good game with Clemson and if anything regressed.
Well boy was I wrong.
W. Bede 2 2 1 4
Points / Reb / Assists / Fouls
Point guard? Boy O' Boy
Ouch. Ya, not good.
I expect a NCSU type scoreboard when the dust settles. I'd be perfectly fine with that as I took the under at 123.
Of course, that means that all our shooters finally start hitting and we put up 90...
Hill and Walker combine for 53 points tonight. Enough points to beat the bee's by themselves.
I took the over 122 and GT +12.5... I just don't see this being a blowout/10+ point win for VT
Congrats man. Hope you had a nice payday with those!
No related to our game per se, but it is basketball related...
I think the fact that GT typically plays zone will help us in this game. The offense can run through NAW at the nail which could provide Hill and Outlaw with some open looks. Of course, they need to make those open looks, something that has escaped us lately.
The problem is finding the ballhandler to get it to NAW cleanly and often, otherwise I would agree. I just haven't seen that passer yet on the floor that I trust to hold the dribble at the top of the key to find the opening.
Exactly. And Bede has zero dribble penetration.
They haven't been making there open looks because they've rarely getting open looks. A lot of bad and good shots, very few great and perfect shots without 5. Bede has to become more of a scorer to generate more great and perfect shots for his teammates.
I think we will see improvement each game, but it will take Bede a while. Nobody is better than the drive and kick-out pass than 5.
Can't trust this team without J-Rob/Bede handling PG. Laid big money on GT +12.5
#SAUCES - J-Rob will be back in time for ACC Tourney, with possible game or two before hand to re-acclimate
My sauces say different, and they are (pretty) direct on my end.
But will PJ suit up tonight??? stay tuned. Was told there was a decent chance.
Edited to say "pretty" because they aren't Buzz nor a member of the coaching staff. But I trust them, if that means anything.
And here you go with another edit:
Well, your sauce nailing the Horne news tonight doesn't make me feel good about Robinson.
Anybody else read this part of the tweet as @Hokie_Hoops telling the ACC Network to get better?
" I would expect a slow ugly mucked up game throughout with both teams struggling offensively to find an identity. The Hokies really need to emerge from this confusion they have let settle in since Robinson's injury."
Well-stated. The last three games (since Robinson's injury) have been mucky and sluggish. Can the Hokies emerge? Many people think they can. I am not so sure. I don't think Bede has the maturity nor ball handling athleticism. If it's mucked up again, it may very well be an indication it is staying mucked up for the rest of the season.
Honestly from what I have seen, especially with this opponent where I am not as concerned about Bede covering a top guard talent, I would really like to see more of Wilkins in the lineup and less of Bede. Put NAW at the point, have Wilkins break the Nail head, and then let Hill, Outlaw and Blackshear play their normal roles. Obviously not ideal but I think its a more effective lineup against this opponent. Is Wilkins going to make mistakes? Sure, but he has the want to score, and enough touch to find the open shooters if the defense crashes down on him.
Buzz must have read and agreed with your advice. Good bit of Wilkins tonight.
I think we can win this game. I know the team probably feels a down right now and this is the perfect time to get a bounce back win to uplift spirits. Although, if we lose this game I could see us spiraling downward to finish the season.
I went in thinking this was winnable.... sat in my seats and then saw the referees come out of the tunnel...
"God Dammit...."
My wife is like "what's wrong?"
and she gets a brief synopsis on the history of "TV Teddy"
There was also another referee last night power tripping towards Blackshear. KJ was about one cold shoulder away from being T'd up for nothing.
PJ Horne is in uniform and warming up.
Even if he isn't full go tonight, this is great news for the rest of the year. Especially if JRob isn't back for the ACC tournament.
O boy. Is this another what could have been at VT.
JRob scaring me hopping around on one leg in his boot...
OUTLAW... engaged
Needed some hot Outlaw medicine. Offense looks much better.
Buzz out of bounds plays are second to none.
Horne in the game. This is big, even if he just gives us 5-7 minutes tonight.
LET'S GO PJ
Blackshear on offense is looking good so far.
PJ says: "I'm back!"
Maybe they knew something in Vegas.
Finally we get fouled on a 3!
Questionable call on Bede there. Looked like a great defensive rotation & steal to me
Agreed from the camera angle we had.
2 straight questionable calls. Come on
Still better than Jamie Lucky at Clemson, woof
Me watchin GT's Sjolund:

Blackshear looks like a baby giraffe trying to walk for the first time when he drives down the lane. Not graceful at all
Hi... welcome to tkp.
Oh joy, lets hear these announcers try to tip toe around this nut tap
When TV Teddy does a review who knows what will happen.
Can we talk about NAW being 0-2. We need to find a way to get him involved without 5.
As I was writing this he drained a 3. Nvm
Blackshear playing the nail tonight well. Several excellent passes that lead to good shots.
AHMED HILL. FINALLY
Here we go.. Poor shooting team goes on a run from 3 against us. Shocker
Need to close out the half strong. We've gotten a little lazy on offense the last few possessions.
We just can't build on a lead. Why is it so impossible?!
NAW needs to stay another year
Bede travels out of a timeout. Yikes
12-0 run. Jesus
I can understand struggling against teams like Louisville, but struggling against GT, while allowing a 14-0 run to close out the half is ridiculous. No baskets for the final 4:45. We need 5 ASAP.
Rough end to the half. For the officials.
Holy shit we suck. 0 points the last 5 minutes of the half. What the hell are we doing? GT sucks ass
Horrible last 5 minutes for us. We stopped doing what was working on offense earlier in the half and we got lost on defense too much. The only plus was KBJ played smart and didn't pick up a second foul (or a first foul for that matter.)
I don't mind the fabletics commercial. At all.
Look, Robinson is a great player, and losing him sucks, but this team shouldn't have to scratch and claw their way to put up just 45-50 points every game without him no matter the opponent. It's embarrassing.
Honestly, this is pathetic. GT sucks balls. And let's be honest, is NAW really a lottery pick or even close to one? Without 5, he looks lost.
Looking like we will be playing on day 1 of the ACC tourney
So.. do we win a game before Robinson comes back? I'm growing less & less confident in that possibility
We will probably make adjustments and win this one but every one after that is going to be tough.
Anyone else find it funny that ever since the nutshot on Alvarado, it's been one long kick in the nuts for us?
If we lose out, do we miss the tourney? How much will the committee account for not having Robinson?
Just tuning in. What the hell happened in in the last 5 freaking minutes of the half????
Nothing for us. A lot for them. & crying for me.
Outscored 14-0 in the last 4:30 of the half. Lost a 10 point lead to go down 3. No excuses.
AT. HOME.
TO. AN. ACC. BASEMENT. DWELLER.
With their best player taking a nut shot and on the bench.
We are so damn out of sync. Need big adjustments this half but I'm not holding my breath. This is pathetic.
Did this announcer just say he's really impressed with a kid after he missed a wide-open 3?
We're witnessing the all-time "what could have been" Hokie basketball season
KBJ has 3 dimes according to the box score. Seems like he should have more than that. Lots of good passing out of him.
LET'S GO WILKINS
Wilkins with the strong put back and the harm.
10 point lead. Time for Teddy to pit the attention on himself.
How do they not call over the back on Hill (GT) every time? He not only goes over, but forearms in the neck/back to do it.
Finally a travel on GT.
Man, NAW can't hit anything tonight. But the 5 assists have been huge.
Not sure where the foul was on Hill's fastbreak layup, but I'll take it.
Come on KJ this is ridiculous
Gotta push through this rough stretch
Nice touch by wilkins for that 3 pt play
Teddy's dancing!!! ...but it's good for us.
KJB has to be the best big we've had since Robert Krabbendam
He's done a lot well tonight.
Jeff Allen would like a word
Talk about a competition to see who would get the most stupid fouls.
I was always partial to Coleman Collins.....
But that might be because my friends and I were denied at the McDonalds at 2am because we weren't in a vehicle, he pulls up in his Caddy, he orders our food, and paid for us.
THERE WE GO NAW
Buzz dancing is great
Some lucky bounces on the glass for GT
That last 3 point play for GT was either a travel or the foul was on the floor and not shooting.
That was the most continuation I've seen given in college this season. Looked like an NBA three point play.
Nice flop.
Wilkins with a great night. 9 points and 6 rebounds (4 Offensive) thus far.
What a dish by KBJ!
Premature Giftory request: that entire beautiful slow-developing give-and-go sequence between KJ and NAW
So blackshear is our new point guard?
KBJ and Outlaw showing out!
That last 3 by KBJ is the cherry on top of his game tonight!
KBJ takes his time and buries it! Sweet shot.
Alvarado with the flop lol
OK HILL
Good to get another W
Why didn't we try and score at the end to get the 10 pt win NET boost?
I was thinking the same. I bet Buzz was furious inside when they hit that three and he couldn't call timeout to draw up a play and look like an asshole
GIFtory!!
Roses are red
Violets are blue.
We're the real tech,
So fuck you
It seems Buzz has abandoned his drive and dish offense for a big man inside out game with Blackshear. That plus some scrappy defense worked pretty well tonight.
We look good against zones.
Good win. Luckily avocado didn't shoot as well as last game. We have to find a way to get NAW involved. KBJ and outlaw gave us this one. Need to get the rest of the team on the same page.
Not sure what game you watched. NAW had 16pts and 7 assists and was 3/7 from deep with 2 steals. Seems pretty involved
Edit: And one of his 3pt attempts was a 3/4 court shot at the end of the half. So he shot 50% from deep tonight without that.
Lol @ avocado. I thought Wilkins played well other than that dumb unforced turnover on a fast break, but it was a welcome sign seeing Horne back. Also, I thought Med did enough good things tonight too. My gripe is still Bede. I pull for him, but he's a liability out there offensively. It's one thing if you don't score but are the bread man, but he hasn't proven to be a consistent QB one bit.
Wilkins can be really good once he gets his legs underneath him. He was definitely gassed at times in the 2nd half.
I think Bede's issue is part mental right now- he got past his defender one time and had a wide-open path to the bucket only to pull it back out and almost turn it over. Also seems really down on himself every time he makes a poor pass. Needs to get his head right.
Also, NAW always seems to have the quietest 15-20. Rarely feels like he's taking over the game and then you look at the box score and he has 16 points while keying the offense and playing really good D.
Wilkins makes stupid fouls a lot, but the more he plays and with offseason training, I'm looking forward to that kids potential
Was super excited by the floor time for Wilkins especially with the production he added, was great to see Horne back which should help legs stay fresh. I was shocked with Buzz using Blackshear to break down the defense but he was a twirling dervish out there, slinging passes in midair at least five or six times. Hopefully they can continue to play like this especially defensively until Robinson comes back.
Agreed. You think this is something they do going forward or did it just work tonight since GT plays some zone? We haven't looked good at all with Bede out there, but Buzz took him out, inserted Wilkins, and then initiated most of the offense through Blackshear and NAW. And unlike Bede, Wilkins was actually looking to shoot which helped as well. I'm hoping that can work going forward, and there's a good chance it can thanks to Horne being back since we can now afford to give Blackshear some rest.
I think now that it worked well, Buzz will find some wrinkles to add to it but I do expect to see the inside out game with Blackshear continue. That by itself won us the game last night. I do think that Buzz has realized that Bede is trigger shy right now so I am glad the Wilkins insert showed promise because it also spreads the floor where the defense has to account for all five guys with the ball in their hands rather than laying off Bede.
Having Horne back is massive for KJ.
How I feel after a win is how JRob5 feels after every made 3:
My streak continues.
@Virginia - watched and L
Wake Forest - didn't watch and W
@UNC - watched and L

Similar thing happened last year from Jan-Mar. I may be banned from watching basketball.
Please send me your phone and all your TVs. I will return them after we are eliminated from the dance. TY.
FTFY.
May be banned? You will be if you don't voluntarily give it up.
Alternatively, consider burning some Hoo gear as a sacrifice and perhaps BBGod will forgive.
You think I own Hoo gear to burn? And I'm sure as hell not gonna buy any!
Maybe I can just watch all their games and my curse can transfer to them.
You mean you don't have any neighbors with those awful Hoo sabre stickers on their cars that you couldn't do everyone a favor and scrape off and burn as sacrifice to redeem your watching ability? Seems like its every fourth or fifth house in NOVA that has those awful things.
I live in Clemson territory. I would gladly sacrifice something of theirs though. One of the department managers at work did go to UVA and could steal his front license plate. Seems like a nice enough dude though.
Am I the only one wondering why Buzz didn't try to get a scoring play in with 11 seconds to get to a 10-point margin of victory for the NET rankings?
He expected his team to play defense to keep the 10 point margin. After that, especially when the other team is purposely avoiding your guys in the final seconds, one of the kind of unwritten rules of basketball is you don't try to score when you have the game in hand in the final seconds.
Thought that same thing... but it's all about the win. The game was in the bag. You get into all that ranking crap as a coach and it can become a distraction for the players.
Didn't know Chico is the second youngest player in DI right now. And I wasn't aware Buzz usually has his kids take summer school their freshmen year on campus. Great interview from coach on YT, check it out:
"I'm praying for you" was hilarious, love the trust Buzz has in the kids he recruits.
Someone on TSL said Clarke was in the stands and cheering his teammates on.
Really wish this guy was on the court for multiple reasons, kid bleeds O&M.
I believe there's a chance he plays next year.
I hope so. He brings an energy to the team that we are going to missing with Robinson graduating.
I think the main issue I was told was "grad school" related, I'm not 100% on the rules of eligibility, but sounded like it was a matter of if he/where he goes for grad school.
Can confirm, I saw him on the way out. Heard he was at the Louisville game too
