This has been bothering me all week....Kelly Stouffer kept referring to Exum as Anthony Exhume...it was driving me NUTS!!....
He must have done it 3 or 4 times. I get that announcers make mistakes, really, I do. This was ridiculous however. Any announcer is supposed to do his homework and know how to pronounce names. Its really a basic thing, especially for a color commentator.
My major problem with this was the fact that CLEARLY no one on the broadcast team took the time to let him know he was making a fool of himself...not the play by play guy, not his producers, his statistician.....anyone.
It was just really unprofessional and embarrassing. Not only did he get the first name wrong, he totally pronounced Exum wrong also.
I know this is nitpicking, but I had to say something since it had me yelling at the TV.
Haha...ok, on to the next game.
Hopefully Deyonce Knows and Billy Byrner will light up the BC secondary...

That's ESPN, for ya. An outstanding base of knowledge, and cutting-edge coverage and commentary.
Oh well, the camera crews do a great job and the HD picture quality is superb.
The cameras do a job except when they get faked out by a hand-off. Which is like every third play.
Didn't he finish first team ACC last year? Makes it even more embarrassing IMO.
All it really did was show that he had no idea who Exum was. He kept spouting out all of his accolades, but if he doesn't even know his name, it's clear he has never watched him play.
I did tweet this to Anish, who was calling the game:
What is even stranger is that Anish was pronouncing it correctly...
Right...I didn't understand why Anish didn't correct him during a commercial break...
Reminds me when Lou Holtz did our game @ ECU a couple years ago and he kept calling Tyrod- Tyrone Tyler.
I remember him talking about the Orange bowl in 2010 during the BCS show. He said, "This will feature two of the best quarterbacks in the country in Andrew Luck and Tyrone Tyler."
That Tyrone Tyler, he'll get after ya!
I believe it was actually Tyroh Tyrah Tyler if I'm not mistaken. At least it kept him from talking more about changing Skip's diapers or what his favorite baby food was. I remember I just kept hoping old Spittin' Lou would forget he was doing a game and wander back to his retirement community.
Separated at Birth:

I thought the same thing...SMH. He needs to research the team before announcing the game. We don't need someone else like mama giraffe out there just reading the stat sheet.
Name pronunciation guide is in the game notes on hokiesports.com. Obviously, the genius color commentator didn't read them. It's still not as bad as Hank Stram referring to us as "West Virginia Tech".
A-A-RON! Got to me Pissed Off as well! At least they didn't refer to us as Virginia.
Ha Ha.
Cartoons Plural gives you another turkey leg.
No joke, every time I learn about a new college football player I rate him on his ability to play in the EastWest Bowl based solely on how unique his name is. Often, he qualifies.
SQQUUUUUUUUUUIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPS.
Agreed. I could have sworn I saw back in the day ESPN had one of those competition shows where they brought in people who wanted to be sportscasters and put them through the ringer, and whoever won was given a chance to be a broadcaster. I only vaguely recall the series, but I did watch one episode where someone got kicked off the island solely due to the fact that they mispronounced someone's name. I think they called it an inexcusable mistake for a sportscaster to make, which makes me all the more confused that this guy made it to the booth.
I didn't watch much of the game, was it worse than Todd Blackledge calling him AXEUM?
i remember a couple of years ago the bball team was playing up at bc and the announcer kept calling terrell bell tyreke. he did it for like the entire game. then he commented on our unique color scheme and burnt maroon jerseys. jesus dude take a few minutes before the game and read the media guide.
Our own announcer last year called Marquis Rankin, Marquis Grissom. Twice! Now whenever I hear anyone talking about Rankin, that is all I ever think of.
my "favorite" is when brent mooseburger would refer to Mike Imoh as "Emu". IIRC, he did it during multiple games ....
Anyone remember when we had a linebacker in 2002 named Vegas Robinson? We played Air Force in our bowl game. The bowl commentators kept calling him Ferguson ALL game.
What almost made my head explode was dude pronounced Facyson correctly. WTF!
Can't forget about their Va Tech. I want to seem them call Georgia Tech, Ga Tech.
