Sounds like could be a great addition to the QB room to compete with QP4 and Knox in 2020. Has the experience under his belt (2 yrs eligibility left) to bring depth back to the QB room, especially even Quincy doesn't develop into a great passer.

I am guessing he would have to sit out a year as a transfer? Even if he didn't, taking a redshirt and being able to play in four games would be kinda good for next year? Given three bodies in the room now, this is sort of a well, whatever QB moment, but wait, my last well, whatever QB moment was some guy named Willis......

Na he just has to claim that Oregon smoked too much weed and that it was a hardship.

He was exposed to too much second hand smoke.

too much second hand smoke smokeshows.

Well qualified, but not Arizona State qualified. /s

Very few schools are ASU qualified.

Edit: The fact that I am married to a blonde Sun Devil in no way effects my thoughts on the situation

Congratulations. You did it.

You have to give kudos to the Oregon marketing staff....they really know how to utilize their talent. And they know how to optimize the duck, too.

Rumors of a 4* QB named Braxton Burmeister transferring in? Makes sense since his name anagrams to Mr Airborne Subtext

Mister Axton Rubber

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

Damn that's a solid pull

I think he played as a true Freshmen and then only played 3 games this past year, should qualify him right away

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Not sure I follow that math. He's not a grad transfer so he'll have to sit out a year and then will have two years of eligibility left.

Any word on the street about us being a contender for his services LAH? (Clearly his visit is a good first step)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ #YNWA

He's got some familial connections. A grandfather who went here?

We are a major contender. Should hear more on that front soon.

If he only played 3 games last year, wouldn't that qualify as a redshirt season and after sitting a year have 3 years of eligibility left?

Only 2 seasons of eligibility because he'd still lose a season sitting.
2017 - freshman
2018 - redshirt
2019 - redshirt sophomore (has to sit as a transfer)
2020 - redshirt junior
2021 - redshirt senior

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

I can't find the article but there was another article in Oregon Newspaper that said he was eligible right away

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Transfer hardship waivers are submitted by the new school, not the old school. Until he signs with a new school, there is no hardship waiver and he has not confirmed eligibility for 2019.

Now, if there is word on exactly what he's claiming as a hardship, then maybe it's something that's usually granted by the NCAA, but nothing is confirmed at this point.

Any chance F$U jumps in on Burmeister? They need QBs stat and there's also the Big Willie connection.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Maybe the connection is the reason there is limited interest. Either way.

they need a QB who is eligible, stat

Don't worry, he has a plan. Where there's a Willie, there's a way!

Lethal Stupidity is a thing

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

QB depth can go from good to bad in a huge hurry with an injury. I say having 4 scholarship QBs in the room is a good thing.

He must have seen the OL signing.

The Dude Abides

If you are bringing him in to provide a mobile, experienced depth option, I can't argue against this. If you are bringing him in to challenge for the starting job, there is nothing in the film that I watched (which was substantial as I prepped to preview Taggart's FSU offence) that would give me the warm and fuzzies. He was solid in the running game as an option on inverted veer, quarterback power, and some read option. He had good run game mechanics (solid mesh points, quick decisions, good footwork.) In the passing game, he made freshman year Tyrod look like Steve Young.

Be your own judge. Here is Burmeister versus Washington:

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

But but but 4 stars

Note how many times he throws down field. It isn't a high number.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

By design based on how U Dub was playing them or to limit a weakness I wonder.

I think I like him a little better than you do. Re: arm strength...normally, somewhere in the HS HUDL footage a QB will run around, wind up, and throw the ball as far as they can to some receiver everyone has forgotten about...and I didn't find that (though I refuse to watch every single minute of it).

Longest comfortable pass I saw was from the right hash at the 35 to the goal line near the left sideline...hit the receiver in stride in the numbers...so mid 40's in the air.

What he does do is throw a bunch of very flat 25-35 yarders and he throws on the run quite a bit. He is also the fastest guy on the field in the HS footage; that speed is also apparent in his U of O clips.

I think he can make any throw Brewer or Jackson could make and he's a good runner. I'd like to see him in the mix at VT.

At least he falls forward for extra yards instead of sliding???

🤔

Let's Go

HOKIES

he was a backup with 57% completion percentage threw for 330 yards 2TD and 6 picks and ran the ball 64 times for 214 yards and 3 scores. they ran the ball 55 times that game against Washington. I don't think its really fair to judge him on his freshman yr performance specially by having us view film against the top team he played. he obviously wasn't brought in to start after the year Justin Herbert had the year prior to this as a freshman. He was thrown to the wolves when he was no where near ready to start Herbert broke his collar bone and missed 4 games. Imagine if RW would have been out against ND and we had to go with Patterson or hooker for a full game last season and that was the film you looked at. yikes. I doubt youd be very high on them either. I don't know much about the kid but I wouldn't be so quick to write him off, hes obviously a talented kid if Oregon recruited him in they have a pretty good list of QBs drafted in the last decade or so.

id say they have a pretty good track record for scouting the QB position
Herbert- 1st round draft pick
Mariota – 1st pick Heiman winner
Darron Thomas - eh
Jeremiah masoli - decent college player for them
Dennis Dixon – 5th round pick
Kellen Clemens – 2nd round pick
Jason fife – 1 yr starter
Joey Harrington – 1st round draft pick
AJ feeley – 5th round draft pick
Akili smith- 1st round draft pick
all the way back to 97

*can't teach accuracy/arm strength

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

actually you can. arm strength is only important to scouts though. accuracy and ball placement are way more important, and those are things that can be taught with repetition, timing (which you likely wouldn't see from a guy thrown into starting that likely didn't get many reps with 1st team WRs in the film above) and one of the biggest issues for QBs being inaccurate is throwing motion (his is pretty decent) . If he can anticipate his WRs breaks better and read the defense quickly enough arm strength Is secondary to being successful. Im by no means saying that hes going to turn into tom brady with pin point accuracy just because hes coming to VT but I also don't think that film gives an accurate account of his skills or potential going forward.

have you checked out his HUDL? obviously HUDL is used to highlight his skills. (and he does have a tendency to pull it and run after the first read) and the film you reviewed (I understand it wasn't nit picked just say hes bad It was just one you happened to watch while reviewing Oregon's offense and his play stood out to you) really shows a low point for him because it was a rough game for him (and everyone else on Oregons roster that day) against a top rated team.

Hudl

I don't know. we can agree to disagree but I actually like him. I hope he never starts at VT because I hope QP is the truth and starts for the next 3 years but as a contingency plan I think hed be a pretty good one if he continues to improve.

To build on that Washington had 2 stud corners too. I think French is being really tough on a freshman qb going against 2 supremely talented corners. And that defense also had a future 1st round pick at DT and a ton of other talent. Oregon was running a way less talented team and a freshman qb...of course he struggled

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

(Mariota was the second pick)

I see two obvious reasons why he had problems. 1) The shiny chrome helmets were blinding him. 2) Who could possibly play well with Donald Duck heads on their shoulders? /s

How DARE you...

The Oregon Duck is by far the best mascot IMO right behind the Hokie Bird

Bleeding burnt orange and chicago maroon

"OK OK OK...hear me out, man. What if...what if we made the mascot, you know, a duck? Not just any duck either. Naw man. What if we made him look like he just walked in on his parents getting it on for the first time. Not like, any thing gross or super obvious. Maybe just the way his eyes look. something no one would ever, you know, KNOW we did, but something you could never unhear once someone told you. yeaaah man. Let's do it.

I dunno man. I don't think they'll ever go for it"

Better than take 1:

and whatever this was:

I think it would be best to see who is on the market after the spring practices. There will be more options then.

Wagon's full and Momma I'm coming home.

The coaches might think that as well. They also might think that it's a good idea to establish relationships with many potential players to ensure that they have multiple options and contingency plans later down the road.

Then again what are the chances our coaches thought of that before me, a random message board guy?

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

leg for your signature.

rewatching GoT in prep for the last season.

I am just not understanding this move from Burrmeister's perspective. Unless he gets a waiver and can compete for a job this year, how would transferring be much different from his situation at Oregon? I know he and Shough would be battling for the back up spot, but if Herbert goes down, he at least gets a chance to get on the field this year and maybe win the starting job next year.

Maybe he's had problems with the coaching staff? I mean, think of all of the reasons we've kicked around wondering why our players were transferring. Is Oregon immune to all of that?

He signed in Small William's first and only recruiting class at Oregon, too, so there's that. Might not even be "problems" per se, just differences.

Don't be surprised if Hendon Hooker comes back out of the portal for one more year at VT!
