The Lady Hokies play LOLUVA in Cassell Coliseum at 7 PM Feb 28. Game is on ACC NE.
Last time out the Ladies built a large lead then went ice cold at the end of the game to lose to an inferior team. We are much better than we were then with more depth. This should be a win for the Hokies.
Season Averages

ACC Game Stats:

LOLUVA only averages 25% from 3 with only 65 made 3's in 14 ACC games for 4.6 per game. Their offense only averges 57 points per game, while their opponents average 65.
Their wins are at home against VT, BC, Duke and Georgia Tech; and on the road at Pitt. They lost at home to FSU, NC State, WF and Louisville; and on the road to Clemson, Louisville, Syracuse, Miami and UNC. They won their last game against Georgia Tech, 53-45 when Ga Tech shot 24.6% overall and 16% from 3. LOLUVA shot 38% overall and 27% from 3, while making 20 turnovers to 15 for Tech. Ga Tech had 22 fouls to 10 for UVA(home cooking by ACC refs?).
This should be a win unless the Hokies really fall apart. Tech is shooting 40% overall and 36% from 3 and scoring 66 points per game. All the stats say the Hokies are better than UVA.
Go Hokies.

Comments
That sounds absolutely terrible to watch. And yet it's nearly twice as good as NC State's men shot against VT last month (16.7% overall and 7.1% from 3).
After our men shot 10.7% from three against their guys, nothing is too terrible to me now.
33-24 Hokies at the half. UVA shooting 16% from 3.
Hokies building on lead but turning ball over all over the place. 5 already in third quarter in less than 5 minutes.
6 turnovers on an offensive foul on Magarity
Can we hold a 17 point lead tonight?
If UVA keeps its current pace we would have to not score at all in 4th to maybe make it close.
47-30 after 3
Last game looked like this until they scored 28 points in the fourth quarter. We only scored 9. We already have 7 tonight.
They are trying their best to lose this one too. Given up 12 points in five minutes compared to 6 last quarter
I think we can quit holding our breath.
Huzzah!!
Clamped down at the end with a few threes
Ahhh, we beat the snot outta them. I enjoyed watching. Well did, m'ladies.
First win against LOLUVA exactly 3 years to the day after their last win in 2016, the last season with Dennis Wolff as head coach making this the first win against them in the Kenny Brooks era at Tech. Congrats ladies!
One more game Sunday against Wake Forest at home. Wake is 1-14 in ACC play. Should be able to end the regular season on a good note.
20 wins might tip the scales for the ladies, a win or more in the ACC tourney would take them into the tourney no question. Definitely a bubble team.
They can't lose 10 ACC games next year though.
Agreed. I was really hopeful heading into ACC play, but reality smacked us in the face. Glad they beat the boohoos, but they're not all that this year, so we should have done that. Still and all, Brooks has things trending in the right direction, I think.
This team had enough talent to be .500 in conference play and should have won at least 2 more conference games. The win against Miami is nice but another big win against Louisville, Florida State, NC State, or Syracuse was easily possible and would have really helped the resume.
If I read things correctly, we could play WF as the first game of the ACC Tourney also.
We would need to hold onto the 10 seed and they would stay 15. Next would be Clemson based on current standings and then Notre Dame if we get that far. Could be some shuffling in the later games depending on what happens this week end.
