Charlotte is something like our 2nd largest alumni draw (behind the DMV), and I'm sure we're all hoping that can be felt in the Spectrum Center next week.
After last nights loss, the Hokies will be either the 5 or 6 seed, meaning they will play on Wednesday at either:
2pm vs. Wake/BC/GT (winner would face FSU)
or (less likely, would need to lose vs. Miami and L'ville beat UVA)
9pm vs. Pitt/GT(?) (winner would face Duke)
Which path do you all want to see play out?
Wednesdays are tough for anyone outside the Charlotte area I'm sure. Are people making that trip?
Here's to a big senior night and hopefully the addition of 5 back into the line-up.
LET'S GO

Edit: Just bought tickets on the Gametime app (actually quite useful for last second/cheap tix)
If you use code: FLASH131064 you can get $5 off your first purchase too

For VT to get the 6 seed, UVA would have to lose at home on senior night and Tech would have to lose at home on senior night against Miami.
5 seed seems like a good bet.
Excited to be there again for the tournament. Should be a great
54 days. First day of the tournament is always a slog.So I'm here in the Charlotte area and would love to see a game or two after work. I've never been to a basketball tournament, ACC or NCAA. What do I need to know about getting tickets that don't cost a fortune, in addition to the Gametime App, that I have to download after I post this. TIA.
If you don't care about quality of games, you should be able to snag some cheap tickets for the Tuesday games. Maybe even the Wednesday games.
I'm only driving into Charlotte if I can see Tech play.
Used to be really easy and cheap to buy from a scalper right before the game when it was in Greensboro. I imagine Charlotte might be similar as long as you are not trying to get tickets that are part of the UNC or Duke group of games. Probably was like $5 for a weeknight game. Charlotte probably has a lot more UNC and Duke fans than Gboro did tho.
When it was in DC, I bought tickets that morning for 12 dollars each and drove up from Richmond. It shouldn't be too expensive. I got them from a third party seller website I think.
It was pretty much the same thing when it was st the Barclays center, but a bit more expensive ($30/ticket). I just happened to be in the city that weekend and decided to go to the game. I got them from the ACC officially if I remember.
The ACC tournament separates tickets into individual sessions (a block of 2 games) for each day. If VT is the #5 seed, the game will be at 2 PM on Wednesday, which is the 2nd game of the early session. The other teams playing that session will be 8, 9, and 12/13 seeds and tickets should be very easy to get from resellers. If VT wins on Wednesday, we would play at 2:30 PM on Thursday against Florida State. I don't think it will be hard to get those tickets either, though I'd expect to pay more (UVA would face the winner of the 8/9 game in the first game of the session).
The upside of an evening session is that fans go watch their teams in the early session and often don't plan to come back for the evening session, so you can wait outside the arena after the early games and buy tickets for next to nothing or get them for free as long as Duke or UNC aren't playing that night.
This is handy. Thanks for the info!
Tickets are very reasonable on StubHub right now. I picked up some for Thursday afternoon. I am local and can't pass up the chance to see my first ACC tournament in person. I am also keeping my boys (13 + 10) out of school for it.
As far as seeding goes, I think that UVa has the inside track on the #1 seed. It would be a great afternoon to watch them get upset and then us beat FSU.
Tickets for the first session on Wednesday are currently at $13 including fees on Stubhub.
Those are seats in the nosebleeds, but in all honesty, you'd probably be able to sit in the lower bowl for the early session on Wednesday.
Just a tip I hope helps others:
We went to the Hornets game last weekend and parked in the 7th street garage for free by eating at the BBQ place (Queen City Q) at the bottom of the parking garage. They will validate your parking for the entire night after 5pm, and validate for 90 minutes before then. Brixx pizza also does this.
The BBQ place had tons of local brews and the BBQ was solid, but did have an awesome bar with a great atmosphere (also - excellent pork rinds).
I don't know if parking validations will happen with the ACC tournament in town, but being able to park 1 block away from Spectrum arena for free was pretty awesome and is worth the try.
