So no Mook.
From his social media, it seems like he might be carving out his own path towards the pros now.
Did anyone read Mook's comments about his situation in the article on NFLDraftBlitz that came out Feb 1st?
Link?
Here is the link
Here are some notable/relevant quotes for those who don't want to read the whole interview:
Big praise and respect still for Bud.
I'd really like to hear from Mr. Reynolds again. Reading this has my blood boiling.
Agree, Mook's side of the story does not put the head coach in a good light or even Bud as his primary mentor. I sure hope this is a miscommunication and a player doesn't hear his status via an outside source. Unfortunately I'm sure we won't hear anything else from the team. The team always comes first but we should go out of our way to support our young players as they continue to mature
"Tell us your side of the story"
Exactly.
But why? He's not going to contradict the interview given by his son.
Why do we go through this over and over and over again? I literally Googled the Student-Athlete Conduct policy and it came right up.
VT Student-Athlete Conduct Policy
Mook was charged with a felony and it won't be resolved until next year assuming he avoids any further issues. It's clear as day. I can't possibly understand how people continue to freak out and blame Fuente over this.
Not looking for that. I would really like to know if Mook was disinvited or chose to go his own route to the NFL and why.
Well one thing I can think of. Wasn't he participating in the trevon hill social media posts against the program? Or do i have that wrong?
Not sure if true but was said here that Mook was told he needed to keep clear of bad situations. If I was the coach and he even liked a post by Hill I would not be open to hosting him either. You can call that petty i guess but golden rule right? If Mook wanted, a pro-day at VT and he did participate in that shitstorm then sorry my man. Best of luck to you but you liked your own way out of pro-day.
Again i may not be remembering that accurately but I seem to recall him involved somewhat.
My thought is that a coach on the team would personally let a player know what was going to happen before it was publicly announced. I get the coach doesn't control this policy but shouldn't the leadership of the team address the next steps directly with the player. I have no idea what actually went on with the communication process but Mooks version sounds like he found out about immediate suspension from a source other than coaching staff which would be disappointing.
While I can see that perspective, we don't know if Mook informed Fuente about the arrest or if Fuente found out from another source either. Certainly I'd like for a coach to be above tick-for-tack treatment with players, but I'm guessing those expectations are clearly communicated to the team and Fuente could have felt the trust was breached and beyond repair at that point. There had been rumors of Mook being on thin ice prior to the arrest so I'm wary of the "never been in trouble or had any issues" claim as well. Plenty of things go on behind the scenes that never become public and cannot be verified but I tend to trust a coach whose livelihood depends on winning football games to not want to dismiss one of his best and most experienced defensive players for no legitimate reason.
He suspossedly was on suspension from the team that spring when it happened.

Wow, sounds like Fu just kicked him off the team point blank. Not a good look if true.
Without knowing the standard procedure for these cases it's hard to say, but we do know that Fuente didn't even have a say in the matter since this was dealing with a felony charge. Don't know if the option is even there for the coaches to meet with a player who is suspended automatically due to athletic department policy.
Dusts off megaphone, clears throat...
HE WAS CHARGED WITH A FELONY. YOU CAN NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES PARTICIPATE IN COLLEGIATE ATHLETICS IF YOU HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH A FELONY!!!
Mook's situation, and say... Ty Outlaw's situation are light years apart. Also, as far as Mook's side of the story, I'd love to know why his friend in the front seat was charged with nothing, and he was charged with felony possession with intent. Not calling him a liar, far from it... that just sounds super weird.
The article said he was already suspended from the team. How is this point blank? Charged with a felony....he also said he had the option to finish his degree.
Really hope Ricky Walker gets a fair shot at the NFL.
Sam Rogers for president.
Dadi Nicolas is present too
Chung put up 31 reps, good to tie for 5th against the OL combine participants.
Nijman's 40 time woulf have been tops at the combine.
He didnt move the same after his injury last year so I'm wonder is he finally healthy or is it just lateral movement.
