It's been a hell of a ride the last few years. Never seen players play with so much passion and heart. I can't think of a single game where they lacked effort

Yep, for guy who has caught a lot of shit he played really well in the tournament and that is a terrible way to go out. I am heartbroken but I hold no ill will towards him whatsoever.

I had my had hands up in anticipation of the throwdown...alas, it was not to be and I looked a complete muppet...oh well, still was a genius play call by Buzz

This reminds me of the loss to Clemson in football in the ACC championship 3 years ago. The boys played their nuts off and they should be proud. They certainly made me proud to be a Hokie and I'll always remember this squad.

On the biggest stage, against the #1 overall seed, they pulled the momentum back every time things started going the other way. Erased that 7 point deficit with so little time to go and pulled within inches of sending it to OT. I was so sure the game was going to slip away at a few points, and they stayed so composed. So proud watching this team and so heartbroken for all of them, especially Hill. I am sure as hell gonna miss this team.

I can't agree with this more, haven't been more emotional about a VT sports loss that I can remember they gave it all they had. I'm proud as fuck to be a Hokie today.

I tell yall what. I havent been active here for a long time due to work shit, but I've watched every game I could, and them guys deserve the world. Their hearts are so much more than most people could even comprehend. I'm so damn proud to say I wear the same colors them boys do.
God bless this team. God please keep Buzzketball HOME.

Not the desired outcome obviously but these guys gave this program everything they had and left us in a way better spot than we could have imagined a few years ago. In some fashion thank you isn't enough, but it's the best I can offer. So, thanks guys! You're all fucking awesome. I'll miss the shit outta you next year.

I have watched a lot of sports in my life. I have never had more respect for a group of players and coaches than I do for this team. The things that they have accomplished in their time here and the heart and effort they put into it were extraordinary.
Thanks guys. It was an honor to watch you pour your heart and soul into all that you did.

Thanks for posting. Hearing Ty, Justin & Med talk you can just hear the love these guys had for each other. Buzz was strong holding back the tears towards the end of the conference.
After the heartbreak just gotta smile and soak in how far these guys & Coach have brought this program.

The strangest thing of the night for me was being at the watch party with our normal football crew (of whom only me and maybe 2 other people are also consistent bball fans). We had 20+ people that we normally only see for 1 or 2 football games a season all in one place, and we were talking about how great it was that we had a reason to gather everyone together when it wasn't even football season. Sure, we were all screaming at the TV by the end of it, but it was awesome to have a run like this that resulted in bringing all of our friends together to watch the game in late March however many years out of school we all were.
Who knows what changes the next season will bring in terms of players and coaches, but I hope that this season has really lit a fire in all "football only" fans to really see how fun basketball can be. If we can raise interest, it just leads to more people getting more invested in VT athletics as a whole, and more money flowing into the program so we can consistently have strong programs in multiple sports that people want to watch.

Extremely proud of this entire team. A big thank you to our basketball coaches and players. You gave us something to look forward to every week. We all got to witness 5 great years of going from bottom dwellers to darn near beating the overall #1 seed in the Sweet 16. Just very proud! Buzz, I really hope you stay. Not just for the wins, but you're a VT OKG and seeing you anywhere else just won't feel right. Either way, thank you for always representing VT the right way and teaching young men quality life lessons.

Every player on this roster is worthy of love. We all love you. No matter what happens from here on out, we will always appreciate every sacrifice you made for us.
This is a moment that Hokie Nation will remember for the rest of our lives. You proudly represented us.

If I ever see med at tots drinks are on me all night. Fuck if I meet anyone on this senior class downtown drinks are fuckin on me. This class has provided me so much entertainment and so much joy over the years and more importantly has finally given me a chance to shit talk my friends at other schools. The distance weve covered in the last 4 years has been nuts. I love this team. I love this class. I really hope buzz sticks around

What an amazingly fun ride it has been. Thanks for all the highs and lows. I am truly heartbroken now just because of how it all ended and knowing what might be on the other side of this.
I am certainly in the minority of Hokie fans, but I have always taken to basketball and especially love to see the player development. I have probably watched 95% of the games in Buzz's tenure and the progress has been extraordinary. I have faith in Whit doing what is best for the program but man this hurts. Thank you 5, Ty and Med... Truly Hokie legends

I watched nearly every game of James Johnson and then Buzz's first year where we finished last 3 years in a row. Tonight I went to a FUCKING SWEET SIXTEEN GAME and watched my school come within inches of beating the #1 overall seed next to thousands of fellow Hokies. I'm a lifelong college basketball fan, but I am so grateful to finally truly have a team to root for. Thank you Buzz for these past five years that have given me some of the best memories of my life. Thank you J-Rob, Ty, and Med for everything you've done for this program. This has been an awesome journey, and while tonight sucks, I am thankful for every moment of it.

It has been a complete blast watching this team crawl out of the cellar of the ACC to lose by a bucket in a Sweet 16 tournament. The ride hasn't been pretty at times but the effort was always there. I thank you all for allowing us to come along for the ride. GO HOKIES!

Hell of a season, best VT basketball team ever, no doubt. Shame it had to end this way, but it wasn't because we lacked heart, effort, or VT pride. Proud as hell of this team, and it definitely makes me proud to be a Hokie!

I'm a junior here and the biggest college basketball guy you'll find. So grateful that my 3 years so far have coincided with the best 3 years in VT hoops history. These guys are my all time favorite college athletes. I love you, Med, 5, and Ty.

Best VT basketball team ever. Deserve to hold their heads high

God I feel for Ahmed Hill right now. Hold your head high.
Yep, for guy who has caught a lot of shit he played really well in the tournament and that is a terrible way to go out. I am heartbroken but I hold no ill will towards him whatsoever.
Yep. He outplayed NAW at least.
That was a tough play to make regardless of situation. jump, spot the ball, catch, shoot all while in the air going away from the hoop.
Part of me would have peed my pants had he been going more towards the hoop and dunked it on Zion.
All of me would have peed my pants
I had my had hands up in anticipation of the throwdown...alas, it was not to be and I looked a complete muppet...oh well, still was a genius play call by Buzz
What a thrill ride this season was. Sucks that it had to end like that for them. So appreciative of what they accomplished though.
That was one hell of a game. Med played his ass off. They all did.
Very proud of our guys tonight.
Proud of these seniors. They played their hearts out and never gave up.
I just knew Outlaw was gonna nail that three, alas it didn't happen. Feel for these guys. Hell of a season.

Thanks Seniors. Thanks Buzz & have a great career at aTm.

I could just about cry. I'm gonna miss these guys. Hate that it had to end like that.

Most disappointed and proud I've been to be a hokie since early 2000. I will always remember this team.
You're not the only one....I'm going to miss this team

Not sure where to put this if anyone wants to watch postgame presser...doesn't look like we have gone yet.
Look at Robinson shoulder that. Fuckin look at what a MAN it takes to shoulder those plays.
Thank you for posting this
What a leader 5 is by answering that 1st question immediately the way he did. My heart breaks for Med hearing his answers
I love this team.

Who the hell is cutting onions at 1:26 am...
Goddamn Med is breaking my heart.
Where'd it go? Cant find online
Screw the loss. This is a season long FAM post.
Best VT basketball season ever. Time to celebrate FAM!
Thank you Buzz. Thank you Seniors. Thank you players and everyone else on down to the managers! LET'S GO!!!
HOKIES!!!
We godamned near beat a bunch of one and done espn loverboys. Wtf else can we do? Them boys gave it everything. I love all y'all. Rather have the fucking heart not the talent.
That team was a pleasure to watch.
And watch out when you give hokie nation a big game close to home.
That was an electric game and a fun ride.

Put this at the end of the game thread, but its worth a second post...
Dax wins twitter tonight!
I'm KOing everybody I see wearing a Duke shirt on campus tomorrow. Y'all have been warned.β Dax Hollifield (@ChiefDax_25) March 30, 2019 " target="_blank">
Do people where not-VT clothes on campus these days?
It wouldn't surprise me for Duke fans to not get in to Duke and still wear the colors.
Not often unless its like some west coast school.

Same. 2012-2016 was a rough time for VT basketball. Crazy how far we have come since then.

What everyone else said. Heart, effort, and heartbreak. Kudos to the senior class and I'll miss this team and this year. What a ride.
You guys are the heart and soul of this team. Thank you for your blood, sweat, and tears.
Hell of a season, best VT basketball team ever, no doubt. Shame it had to end this way, but it wasn't because we lacked heart, effort, or VT pride. Proud as hell of this team, and it definitely makes me proud to be a Hokie!
Was a hell of a ride, and reminded us what good basketball could be. This team has personality in droves, and I enjoyed watching them all year.
Thanks for making VT basketball fun to watch.
It has been great watching and cheering for this team. I hope all of our seniors the best at whatever they are going to do next.
It was a great and memorable run π
