I know some Wizards fans. They're celebrating as if they just won the Finals.

Rightly so. Grunfeld is just the worst. And this is a timeline where Billy King exist!

Wizards fans. They're celebrating as if they just won the Finals.

And this basically encapsulates it.

Long time coming......

Oh god thank you thank you thank you thank you.

15 years and not even a conference championship? Or even an appearance? This man has some dirt on Ted and the NBA, there is other explanation as to how he kept his job so long. That or Ted is an apathetic chode that doesn't give a damn about the Wiz. Probably both.

I will say that this probably means that we are going to be looking to move Beal this offseason. Beal will garner some great assets and I'm sure the new GM will want to have a clean slate more or less to work with.

All I know is this is about damn time and probably the best news a Wiz fan has had since 2010.

there are many similarities between Ernie and Bruce Allen for the Redskins. The top thing both have done well is meet their financial health goals both in profit and team value. I think the final straw is the albatross that is now John Walls max contract. They owe Wall 39M annaully starting next year even though they already know he cant play. Also heard Ernie didnt make much headway in gaining financial commitments from DC in terms of bonds to improve access in and out of the arena among other desired improvements.

And that's sad. Wall is a guy that loves this city and we paid him. It's what most franchises' would do. Unfortunately he got injured and now we probably will never get him back to top form.

There are many other reasons to fire Ernie. I think it is unfair to pin it on the Wall contact though.

Although, now the most interesting thing is to see what happens to Beal.

yeah, Wall's contract is not nearly the main issue with this team. ian mahinmi, andrew nicholson, and jason smith contracts crippled this team the last 2-3 years

The Jason Smith contract wasnt terrible but the mahinmi contract should have gotten him fired immediately. He missdd out on getting Al Horford and knee jerked Mahinmi. The Wall contract unfortu ately though is the second time in Ernies tenure where he gave a contract to a star that had some injury history that exploded post contract award. Gilbert Arenas contract was an albatross for years even after he was off the team.

gilbert and wall are apples and oranges to me...gilbert had a major knee injury then got a contract IIRC. wall was coming off an all-nba level season

also andrew nicholson effectively cost us a first round pick for a half season of bogdonovic, who we didn't resign in order to resign porter who is now gone.

tl;dr: yeah summer of 16 should have been the last straw but leonsis is too short sighted

Wall had injury issues before the contract, knee problems I think.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

Now... On to the most dysfunctional DC team. Can we get a gofundme page to buy that guy out?
