We're actually a good team

We just have a terrible quarterback that costs us games. I know it's all gloom and doom right now and people/fans are doubting our team but it's unfair to say this team sucks. Our quarterback sucks at playing quarterback, but our team does not suck.

Last year, you could justify Logan's terrible play by saying the system sucked and the guys around him sucked. That's not the case this year. We don't have the best pieces in the nation around him but we do have players that can make plays when given the opportunity to do so. Problem is, our quarterback doesn't give them the opportunity to do so. When he plays bad or horrendous, our team can't overcome his mistakes.

This post isn't motivated solely by today's game either so don't comment with a bunch of excuses like Journell missed last week, Meyer dropped passes, we can't run, etc. This is motivated by the horrendous play of our quarterback over the last two seasons. This is also motivated by a lot of fans/people saying our team sucks which is not the case. If Logan didn't absolutely suck last week, we definitely beat Duke. There's really no denying that. If he didn't absolutely suck this week, we probably would have won today. Logan's the problem with our team, not our team.

Perceive this as Logan bashing if you'd like but that's not my intention. I'm actually defending our team because they need it. The Hokies don't suck, we just have a serious problem at the most important position of the team. Is it the coaches fault for continuing to play him? I don't know, maybe. Is Mark Leal really that fucking bad? I don't know. But I do know that we have a good team and I know that I can't wait for Logan Thomas to not be my quarterback.

And if Logan and/or his family reads this, I'm sorry and I have no doubt that Logan is a great guy. But my relationship with Logan starts and ends on the football field. As the qb of a major college football team, you are given national spotlight and must be able to take the criticism that comes with those lights. And as a paying member of Hokie Nation, I'm allowed to voice my opinion.

It was a 50/50 game for him. Early on he played relatively well. Threw for 390 yards, which is actually ridiculous for a Virginia Tech QB. But at the same time, he just had some really frustrating mistakes that also hurt our chances to win. I'll always support the guy on and off the field, but his inconsistency can be so absolutely frustrating at times.

Logan 3:16

When he plays bad or horrendous, our team can't overcome his mistakes.

The coaches seem to like to keep putting absolutely everything on his shoulders too. Unfortunately, that keeps us from ever establishing another mode of attack, like a running game. It's like it's all Logan or nothing.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Have you seen the rest of the offense? It pretty much is Logan or nothing.

No it's not. I just responded on another thread to a similar comment you made. Our offensive guys around Logan are really not as bad as you Logan lovers make it seem. Not at all. I don't get how yall can keep saying that after our receivers and gameplans have gotten better.

In the two games this year that he's looked good (yes only two games. I know. Fuck) yall weren't talking badly of the of our receivers. No but that's because they're actually good when allowed to be. But then when Logan goes and throws games away for us, somehow it's because of the guys around him. Can't have it both ways.

Logan did look pretty good against Alabama. There were maybe 4 or 5 "bad throws" yet he only completed 5 passes on the game. I think you're overlooking that one. Not agreeing or disagreeing with you, but just pointing out the facts.

Logan 3:16

His receivers have improved, but the team around him still isn't exactly elite. Once again, I'll point to drops by Knowles and Meyer today. If those 2 guys hold on to those two balls, this is a much different discussion. I don't see why you've made it your life mission to bash LT, but if that's the way you "support" your Hokies, screw you.

*EDIT* Also, the reason people were so quiet about the deficiencies of the rest of the offense during the winning streak was that people weren't coming after Logan like an angry mob during that time. Remember when LT3 had 3 more yards of offense than our entire offense? You still think he's the problem?

Haha screw me. Thanks man. That's positive right there. I won't even respond to the football piece of your comment since you feel the need to make this a personal thing.

But I will say this: I support my Hokies by wanting what's best for the team and Logan is not that. Plain and simple. I don't enjoy talking negatively of Logan (if "bashing" is being honest about his performance then I guess I'm bashing). I'd much rather talk about how great he is and how he's winning us games. But....

Now have a good day sir. I'm sorry that I made you mad.

There is no reason for the RBs to have had 9 carries today. None. RBs have to get in a rhythm to produce, especially our RBs. But they have never gotten a chance.

And we have pass-catchers not named Knowles and Coles that can pretty much be counted on more often than not. It's time we actually caught up to that fact.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

This is why last year killed me. We kept that RB rotation going the entire season. No one could get a rhythm or confidence when they rarely got consecutive carries.

Tech Tech VPI

Holmes wasn't that great. He NEVER ran with authority to hit the holes. He always seemed to tip-toe trying not to get hit.

DFWTF...DON'T FUCK WITH THE FULLERS

It isn't all on Logan.

Obviously not everything is on Logan. You can nitpick if you'd like. He's our problem though. That's my point.

I think you and I watched different games. here's a list of players who played well on the offensive side of the ball:

  1. Josh Stanford
  2. Trey Edmunds

Willie Byrn would be in there too, but he got hurt.

So what are you trying to say? I don't get your point. How did we watch different games? I agree that Stanford and Edmunds played well. Maybe the best games of both of their careers. Definitely best game for Stanford, maybe second best for Trey behind bama.

What I'm saying is that everyone, that's right everyone, else did not play well.

I didn't read past the title. But, this is dumb as fuck.

Wait, what's dumb as fuck? If you didn't read past the title, I'm honestly wondering what's dumb as fuck. Saying we're actually a good team or the comments?

Edit: And I think it's funny that there's a thread titled "Logan Thomas is the worst QB in VT history" but somehow my thread titled "We're actually a good team" warrants this response from you Joe.

Personal Opinion: Joe made a post game (loss) thread. Can't we all post our thoughts in one place? I love hearing your opinions post game, but I can't keep up with everyone's new threads. 10 post game threads is stupid. This is my personal opinion, but can we please consolidate things? (I will try and post this on all the other new threads)
